I actually like nearly all of these. Well done. Thanks brah. I'm procrastinating doing math homework, and it somehow led me to create this. I was thinking "WTF? When the f*** did I ever think of something like that? am I being miscredited for someone else's work?" then I realized... Oh... It was my reference lol Lol yeah, well you should get credit for it anyway. Minus the 30-40 feet of course.

Was a model really necessary to prove that you could just add drops to the track? How was it argued that something so simple is impossible?

That also doesn't factor in the escargot has to be slightly angled, not to mention just physics of you're not going to be able to stay in those little holds with that kind of shock whatever you do

And perhaps the biggest problem of all: The Rolling Escargot is a stupid obstacle.

Circle Slider Jump pretty self explanatory what it is, but here is an explanation. You jump from a springboard to the Circle Slider go down a track with two small drops and then swing to a net and either climb over or under. I have always wanted to see this in Sasuke and thought of it a looong time ago I even had it in the Sasuke 31 obstacle ideas thread as a stage 1 obstacle.

A log grip that spins via gears as it goes down the track. My god, it's brilliant. It's the next logical step in the Rolling Log > Log Grip > _____ family.
...That would be awesome.

Nice vid. I wasn't around for the whole adding drops discusson (or if I was, I don't remember it >_> ). I guess it is possible. I don't even know why I assumed it wasn't possible Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize it really isn't practical. Once you scale this up to human size, you are dealing with far more weight. It wouldn't be as easy as adding drops to the current set up. Gravity would not take too kindly, and it could very easily lead to the oobstaclefalling out. However, this discussion and model is using gravity as the method in which the track drops, and not the track itself. Meaning, that when the RE drops, it needs to catch the next track. And it would be at the very least a HARD landing with upwards of 250 pounds SLAMMING on it -- 150+ of those pounds of unequal weight forcing the track outside the track. -SO- with my gebius calucoolations, the only way a RE with drops could work is if the set up was radically different. You'd have to "mirror" the RE on the otherside and have a dead weight of 100 lbs on the other side, equaling out the weight, so when someone rolls down and the track drops, there isn't unequal weight. You also cannot use gravity as the method of drop, the track has to glide down somewhat-sharply. TLDR No one is probably reading this post after the first paragraph because while having a RE with drops is possible, it just isn't feasible. It's alot more complicated when you scale up from a few grams to hundreds of pounds. I do think it can be done, however.

I like the obstacle because it looks SO FUN. I WANT TO RIDE A RE SO BADLY IT LOOKS AWESOME

the point was only that it's possible. obviously it's a terrible idea. (regarding drops in the RE)

The mushroom thing is neat. Not as badass as the Spinning Log I was imagining, but neat nevertheless. A Rolling Escargot with drops wouldn't be terribly difficult to build. A counterweight would probably be the easiest way to go like JP said, but there are other ways I can think of.
Welcome back RC.

Salmon don't like going upstream anymore because of dams or something
Nobody likes the salmon ladder anymore because of swap variant.
These two problems have the same solution.
The Salmon Cannon.

If anyone wants to continue the discussion from the 31 Obstacle Contest thread with m4tt3r0x then it would be easier to bring this thread back up.

It could be designed safely. The problem is that it's a stupid obstacle to begin with, and adding drops would only exacerbate that.
