Sorry for a second comment but JoJo isn't faring too well. What happened to him...?! He can't swim, so falling in is basically worst case scenario. My comment this episode: No one can defend that Metal Spin landing. No one. That landing was a joke that was just bad

The Wolf Pack and Josh Cook would have crushed stage 3.

Can't overlook any stage, their oversight got the better of them... that and poor planning by the NBC stage design crew...

- Liked the Rope Jungle, though it can be re-designed to be a lot more streamlined. The same concept can be done with like, six or seven ropes. Brian's strategy I don't think was the reason for his failure. You either have it or you don't on the Rope Jungle. Yen was right after him in the editing and he had no problem. On the opposite end, Lorin (tough break) was second to last and he crapped the bed. - Butterfly Wall is decent, though the run-up can be longer. I'd also lower it a tad so as not to screw shorter competitors again. - Screw that Metal Spin landing. 4 people got screwed by that. The tester, and Joe and Elet had to spin just to keep their footing. The point of the obstacle is the chains, not the landing. That actually pissed me off. Stage 2 would be awesome if it wasn't for that. - Thoughts on the Cannonball Incline are spoiled due to involving the International special: Great double standard there. Joe can skip one but not Asa. No blame to Joe at all for being smart. All the blame to the judges for being incompetent. - No opinion on the re-designed Doorknob Grasper. Kind of cool seeing Elet use his approach and not slip off. - Still don't like those Floating Boards but Joe shows it can be done no problem. - My issue with the Propeller Bar isn't the trampoline in Stage 3, or even that it spins you like you're a top. It's that you have to wrap/slam your arms on a hard, wooden object before having to climb a small rock wall - Why is there no ledge on the first section of the Spider Flip? Another unnecessary change. - Button at the end of the stage, lol. It's there for a reason, but still, lol. Maybe next year will be 'the year.'

Why did Elet go before Joe, didn't he have the better time? Joe probably went first, but they showed Elliot first because Joe went further. As for me, I thought stage two was a real let down. Here are my general thoughts: - Rope Jungle is good as an obstacle, but not as the first obstacle of stage 2. If someone takes too much time on the obstacle, it becomes really clear that he's not going to pass the stage and the rest of his run becomes a waste of time. It probably would have been better as the fourth obstacle. - I like the design of the platform leading up to the Salmon Ladder. Way better than last year. - I have nothing against the Butterfly Way, but it's way too similar to the Metal Spin. You have two back-to-back obstacles where you have to jump with no trampoline and grab an object that rotates when you grab it in the stage. Should have kept the Balance Tank. - Is it just me, or when JoJo was calling for help in the water it looked like ANW wasn't prepared for a potential water rescue? None of the stage crew guys looked dressed to go in the water, none of them had a flotation device, and the first two guys you see on camera actually tried to save him without going in the water. A man is drowning; jump in and save him! - I noticed ANW changed their history a little bit. They said in ANW 4, Brett Sims was the the last person to take on Stage 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Derek Nakamoto the last person they showed running stage 2 that year? - I think we can all agree that the Metal Spin was complete BS this year. You shouldn't have to hook the underside of the landing platform in order to dismount. - I don't like that the Wall Lift is clear. Makes the walls look lighter than they really are. - I was looking at #ANW tweets on twitter at about 10:15 and there was a lot of negative tweets from ANW fans. People thought stage 2 was too hard and that the long string of fails made the show boring. I don't get it. It's clear NBC wants a winner, so why change the courses so dramatically and increase the difficulty so much? If they keep making these obstacles with problematic designs, there never will be an ANW winner. - I honestly didn't pay too much attention to stage 3 since it was clear neither of them was passing given how much time was left. I do think the Propeller Bar was pretty cool. Might have been better as a stage two obstacle, however.

Joe definitely went first, when they showed him during Elet's run he had a towel and his hair was wet. Also, his chalk marks were on the floating boards. It ceases to amaze me how often they spoil their own show. I thought the same thing during JoJo's rescue, he was struggling for awhile before anyone took action. As for the Propeller Bar, if it were in stage 2 there would be 3 obstacles with almost the exact same concept. I wouldn't be a fan of that. Overall, I enjoyed this stage 2 more than the recent ones. It's just unfortunate that the Metal Spin's landing screwed up so many people.

A man is drowning; jump in and save him! Yeah they looked very unprepared. Guess it was probably a learning experience for them. - I dig everything about Stage 2 except the Metal Spin landing. Balance Tank would be more exciting to watch than Butterfly Wall (or whatever they called it), but whatever. Other then Yen Chen getting screwed, no problem there. Overall, I loved it. And too hard? At least it wasn't the crapshoot of ANW4, and it looked like the Salmon Ladder rungs were fixed from ANW5. - 18/90 clearing Stage 1, 2/18 clearing Stage 2, 0/2 clearing Stage 3. Historically, these are not alarming numbers. I think the stages seemed to be about the level of difficulty I would expect from Sasuke/ANW. If NBC wants a winner, someone is going to have to step up. I hope they don't dumb anything down. - Stage 3 was kick-a**. Weird seeing a trampoline one Stage 3, but I thought the concept of the Propeller was neat. I think the Floating Boards (Floating Doors?) are boring to watch, and the Hang Climb is a bit too hard and adds some randomness (competitors might not be able to see which holds are good and which aren't). UCH has yet to claim an American victim in America (iirc, Kanno was the only one to fail it last year), so I wouldn't mind them switching that up or upgrading to the CCH. - Overall, with the exception of the Silk Slider landing platform, the wideness of the Jumping Spider, and the Metal Spin landing platform, it was a great course. Look how far NBC has come in course design since ANW4. Looking forward to next year!

I watched it and my thoughts are kind of the same as everyone here, but here I go anyway. I liked stage one though I think they need to replace the half pipe attack, because nobody fails it the right way. I liked the silk slider, I can see why people don't like it with it being like the chain see saw, but I also love the chain see saw it is just really cool to me. I didn't like how long stage 2 was, I remember stage two was supposed to be a speed stage, not two minutes long with an obstacle at the beginning that tells you if they are going to be low on time or not. Also the Metal Spin, I think everything about this obstacle was wrong this time, the chains are not supposed to be so close to the water that people who make awesome saves(Ryan Stratis) still fail, and the platform I thought was really dumb, the obstacle is supposed to be jumping to the chain not landing on the platform. I liked stage three and I did like the new doorknobs, I'm indifferent about the Cannonball Incline. I love the floating boards and I don't know why, it is just something about it. I liked the new idea for the propellers except for the trampoline the trampoline for me doesn't really look right in stage three, they could have made it lower so it was a hard jump without the trampoline. The rest of the course was fine for me. Can't wait till next week for USA vs the World even though the "world" is two different teams who aren't teamed up in one, so it really should just be USA vs Europe vs Japan. If it was just USA vs The World then it sounds like the world is just one team, but I digress.

I would be very interested in hearing a defense of Rope Jungle. I found it infuriating as a viewer. And I imagine I would have found it equally infuriating if I was one of the elite competitors.
To replace what was essentially a throw-away balance/hanging type of obstacle that lasted a couple seconds with a ridiculously hard upper body/grip strength obstacle that took 15-40 seconds to complete is mind boggling and in defensible to me.
Don't get it.
