SASUKE 30 Trivia
Numbers*For the first time since SASUKE 26, no new numbers cleared Stage 1.
*#14, #32, #35, and #82 cleared Stage 1 for the first time since Akiyama Kazuhiko’s kanzenseiha.
*#68, #72, #74, and #81 cleared Stage 1 for the first time since Nagano Makoto’s kanzenseiha.
*#98 cleared Stage 1 for the 18th time, the most out of any starting position (#100 is second with 17 clears, and #97 is third with 16 clears).
*#35 cleared Stage 2 for the first time ever, and is only the second number in the 30s to ever do so (the first was #30 in SASUKE 2).
*Four of the nine numbers that cleared Stage 2 (#67, #86, #90, and #91) did so for the first time since Nagano Makoto’s kanzenseiha.
*#67 cleared Stage 3 for the first time ever, and is only the second number in the 60s to ever do so (the first was #62 in SASUKE 27).
*#100 is the only number to clear Stage 1 in more than one anniversary tournament, and has in fact done so in all three of them.
Stage 1*This was the second tournament in which two people over age 40 cleared Stage 1; the other such tournament was SASUKE 29.
*The total number of Stage 1 clears in SASUKE 28, 29, and 30 (53 clears) is the same amount as all of the Stage 1 clears during the seven Shin-SASUKE tournaments (SASUKE 18-24).
*The eight straight Stage 1 clears from #67 to #74 ties the record of consecutive Stage 1 clears set in SASUKE 16 (#89 to #96).
*This is first anniversary tournament in which more than one All-Star cleared Stage 1.
*For the first time since SASUKE 23, at least three All-Stars cleared Stage 1. Furthermore, the same three All-Stars cleared Stage 1 in SASUKE 23 (Yamamoto, Takeda, and Nagano).
*42-year-old Nagano Makoto became the third-oldest person to ever clear Stage 1, beaten only by Inoue Kiyomi (SASUKE 1, age 44) and Okuyama Yoshiyuki (SASUKE 29, age 43). Nagano is also the first person at age 42 to ever clear Stage 1.
*Takeda Toshihiro cleared Stage 1 for a record 17th time, and also had his Stage 1 run digested for the first time ever.
*Yamamoto Shingo cleared Stage 1 in back-to-back tournaments for the first time since SASUKE 14 and 15.
*Asa Kazuma cleared Stage 1 with 35.55 seconds left on the clock, the most ever by a Japanese competitor (the previous record was held by Kaneko Yousuke, who had 34.84 seconds left after clearing Stage 1 in SASUKE 27). Only David Campbell and Travis Furlanic have had more time left upon clearing Stage 1, with both of which having done so in SASUKE 27.
*Nakayama Kinnikun cleared Stage 1 for the first time since SASUKE 11 (a 19-tournament gap), shattering Nagasaki Shunsuke’s record set in the previous tournament (an 11-tournament gap, from SASUKE 18 to SASUKE 29).
Stage 2*Morisawa Noritomo (#14) is the first SASUKE competitor to clear a stage (Stage 1) but not attempt the next one (Stage 2).
*For the first time ever, three All-Stars failed Stage 2.
*This is the third time in which Takeda Toshihiro failed a new version of the Salmon Ladder on his first attempt at it. It is also the first time that he failed Stage 2 during a “non-renewal” tournament (one immediately following a kanzenseiha).
*Yamamoto Shingo became the first All-Star to fail Stage 2 in back-to-back tournaments since Yamada Katsumi did so in SASUKE 11 and 12.
*By landing the third jump on the Swap Salmon Ladder, Wakky outperformed both Nagano and Takeda for the third consecutive tournament.
*Despite it being his eighth Stage 2 attempt, Takahashi Kenji failed the stage for the first time ever.
*Despite eliminating at least one competitor in its first three tournaments, the Unstable Bridge was not failed by any competitors for the fifth tournament in a row.
Stage 3*Kanno Hitoshi and Asa Kazuma are the first and second competitors (respectively) to fail the Cliffhanger in three consecutive tournaments.
*Nagasaki Shunsuke and Li En Zhi both attempted Stage 3 for the fifth time, and failed the Cliffhanger for the fourth time. Both have now also attempted (and failed) three versions of the Cliffhanger. Coincidentally, both went on to clear Stage 3 in the one tournament in which they did not fail the Cliffhanger (SASUKE 17 and SASUKE 24, both of which were kanzenseiha tournaments).
*Kawaguchi Tomohiro cleared Stage 3 on his first attempt at it. He is the fourteenth competitor to ever do this, and only the sixth one to do so since Akiyama Kazuhiko’s kanzenseiha.
*Matachi Ryo became the fifth SASUKE competitor ever to have cleared Stage 3 more than once.
Final Stage*Matachi Ryo is the only person thus far to attempt the fourth and fifth versions of the Final Stage.
*Urushihara Yuuji is the only person who attempted the third and fourth versions of the Final Stage.
*Nagano Makoto is the only person who attempted the second and third versions of the Final Stage.
*Yamamoto Shingo is the only person who attempted the first and second versions of the Final Stage.
