Is Paul Kasemir an elite rock climber? Matt Iseman said last night that the top 5 Denver finishers were "all elite rock climbers." I wasn't sure if he was blowing smoke again to hype up the whole rock climbers versus parkour versus everyone else thing. I don't know about "elite", but Paul Kasemir is a rock climber. The only reason I'm not sure about "elite" is that I don't know what that entails. Because NBC is looking for the BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST.. SIR!

{Spoiler}Glad to see that neither KNinja nor nehcney got digested! KNinja, if you don't mind me asking, why did you stop to chat with the commentators on the Warped Wall?
I was joking around with Akbar the previous night about the course. I was just giving him crap. "Akbar, where is the button?" I caught him by surprise though based on the look on his face. I also wanted to get a little break before the salmon ladder and ring slider. It didn't work, the producer told me to "move along" after the allotted 20 second rest period so you are on the next obstacle by the 30 second mark.
Great run, Karson. Were you the one goofed around at the top of Warped Wall? That was funny.
Lol that was me. Glad to see that is the part that people seem to remember about my run! Not the crushing of the devil steps or the ring slider haha!

Btw guys. Next week is a "best of". Want a thread for it? I expect they'll throw some stuff we haven't seen (or even a Vegas hype at the end). Thoughts?

NBC continues to say the Vegas finals will actually take place next Monday... not sure if I fully believe it so don't do it yet. We need confirmation as to what is going to play

We need confirmation as to what is going to play According to TV Guide it's clear what's coming next week. It's also been discussed the weeks they were doing repeats or being preempted for other shows if I remember reading correctly?

Seems NBC just is too hyped on the finals to be right! XD

If you hadn't slipped, you probably would have cleared the course. I really need to get into shape if I ever want to even possibly try out. Not that I'm all that likely to get a chance to, but eh.

XD "Usually" what happens is that the wording is correct as when they do marathons in the future the next episode "would" be Vegas. But don't know I'll do a thread anyway and I can always amend the title if it turns out to be different. Saves people creating spoiler threads as I expect that one to be a huge Vegas anticipation thread.

I liked the Denver Finals course. Enjoyed the show very much. When I saw Doorknob Arch, it looked like birth-control pills to me:D Tough break for Meagan. When I saw Spikes & Cargo, I immediately thought It's going to be a trouble for her. Even if she had successfully grabbed the spikes, it would have been tougher challenge for her to hang on to the cargo net. It just looked very far from the spikes.

To me Isaac Caldiero seems to possess the ability to dominate Mt. Midoriyama - every part of the course that is, except the Jumping Spider. He failed the Jumping Spider (I believe) last season, and doesn't seem to have improved this season. After dominating the extended course this episode he barely made it up the last obstacle (the Spider Climb?), an obstacle very similar to the Jumping Spider.
Curious about how far all of you think he can go, and does he have the ability to defeat this specific obstacle?

Yeah there's definitely those elite rock climber types (not "elite" like how Iseman and Akbar put it, but actual "elite") that would utterly dominate Stage 3 and beyond, if they could just get there. Caldiero and Geoff Britten (competed in St. Louis, I believe) are the 2 "elite" rock climbers I know of. Really looking forward to seeing them in Vegas, and I hope those kind of competitors don't slip up early.

Really looking forward to seeing them in Vegas, and I hope those kind of competitors don't slip up early. I train with Isaac regularly and he is the strongest competitor by far IMO. He can do my entire stage 3 course with no breaks between obstacles at all TWICE in a row. I train harder then anyone I know and I can only do it once with the full 30 second rest in between each obstacle, plus I have been on each one a million times so I have a clear home court advantage. I will film Isaac next time he comes over because it is something you have to see to believe. Something about the long time rock climbing that gives the forearms amazing endurance. If he made it to stage three he would stroll right through it. Isaac fell on the jumping spider last year after he had done the hard part of getting into the plexiglass. His shoes literally would not grip at all so he fell where nobody else did lol. Don't wear five ten shoes! Ian Dory was another strong climber competitor, and though I don't know him well (just hanging out in Vegas) I know he climbs V16 (insane), but I think Isaac has more athletic ability for the non strength obstacles. I don't know Geoff at all so I can't really say how strong he is.

I second Karson's assessment. Based on pure climbing ability Ian might be stronger, but I believe Isaac to be better well rounded. Next season might be different though, I see that Ian is building his own backyard course!

Yeah from what I've experienced, even the traditional elite competitors that I've trained with have breaking points when it comes to upper body and grip string endurance (Jamie Rahn, Johnathan Brown, Wilciewskis, Josh Estock, etc.). I would also go as far as say that the elite Japanese grippers (Ryo, Shinya, etc.) probably have their breaking points as well. But every so often, you see someone in real life who is just draw droppingly strong, that you think "Omg if they could just do the Jumping Spider and Balance Tank and all that crap, they could make this whole thing look like child's play."
From the sound of it, I would love to train with Caldiero for a day. Geoff is definitely another standout. And maybe Sean Kuzoharav (spelling???) -- dude can bench over twice his body weight and traverse cliffhangers for like 10 minutes straight. Last I knew, he fell on ANW4 Miami tramp-to-Jumping-Bars and hasn't returned since. I would love to see one of these types break through.

I can confirm Geoff is badass, I saw him clear the Alternate Routes stage 3 replica setup, and you know Alternate Routes, they make stuff harder as f***

For a moment, I was thinking that getting to the 9th obstacle wouldn't be enough to get to Vegas
