For a few hours, you might have seen a particular user create a post with the sole intent to insult and harass another particular user. Not reply to a random thread bashing someone; create a brand new post in the SASUKE 30 board. There were...a few issues I've noted:
1. It was a blatant violation of Rule 1 of these things we call "Forum Rules" around here, located at the top of every single board and sub-board on this forum. That rule explicitly states:
Needless to say, the thread has been deleted and that member has been banned, although it is not a permanent one. The Admins are welcome to throw down the hammer, if they see fit. There was also a member who had the same intelligence level as the OP, and liked the post. Yes, I did notice and yes, your warning level has been raised. Be lucky you haven't been given a ban either because yes, you can violate a rule by association. But again, that can be up to the Admins as well.
It's one thing to have displeasure with a member here. Not everyone is going to like everyone here (many of you know I have had my fair share of issues with people here). But if you have to actually harass someone/attack them on a personal level, you can take that somewhere else, because it is NOT happening here. That also is calling out people's personal beliefs when they have not harmed in any fashion.
2. I get that it's fun to have "You're in trouble now" posts, and you get to sh*t on sh**ty people, but that thread was up for around NINE HOURS and NO ONE reported it. That's not cool either. We aren't going to see every post as they are made. And sometimes, we don't see them for quite some time. I didn't see the post until it was replied to again and it showed up as the most recent post in the board. We can only quickly do our business as Admins and Mods if we are made aware of the infractions that happen. This is a recurring thing by the way, where we have multiple posts talking about how someone did something dumb and only sometimes do we get reports on it. I'm not saying everyone needs to report a bad post, I'm saying you have a measure of responsibility as members of the community.
3. It was in the wrong board. I mean come on, for goodness sakes, at least put the post in the right place. Has this become of trolling? Where we can't even properly troll? In my day, we staked out like we were robbing a-OK I took that too far.
TL;DR: If you have a problem with someone, confront them directly and do so via PM. Don't let posts like that gain any traction whatsoever, report it and move on. To harp on it only exacerbates any issues that may come from it. If you're going to be an a** and troll, at least do so well. Have a great day.

tbf I thought someone else reported it already so I didn't bother. and tbh that post didn't upset me. I knew how wrong it was but since it's technically the 29th over in Japan, I couldn't be upset since my favorite competitor was turning 40. ^^ I couldn't be dragged down with that in mind.

I think I said something about the post being in the wrong place, and I never realized the report button... sorry.

Well said.
As TCM said, we do our best to monitor all the happenings on the forums not just to be in-the-know of what's going on in the community and the happenings of the show(s), but also to make sure there's nothing going on that is in violation of the forum rules. Unfortunately, there's only a handful of us that do this, and we can (and will) miss things, or gloss over certain things not thinking that they were in direct violation of a rule or multiple rules; things happen, and we're people too. But this one was out in the open for all to see, and even if we had 80 reports for the same thread, it would've gotten to us sooner than had no one reported it (as was this particular case, apparently).
The Bottom Line IF you see something that's potentially violating the forum rules, report it, and we'll take it from there. Whether it's actually violating the rules or not, will be up to the admins and mods. But please for the love of god, report it; don't think "someone else will report it," just report it and we'll handle it from there. Whenever something is very deliberately violating forum rules, we quickly act on it and make sure that it doesn't cause any more problems than necessary; whereas less severe things such as necrobumps that are actually on-topic and are thusly allowed (even after 2 years, etc), we will usually discuss before acting upon.
How do I report a post/thread? Do you see the 3 (sometimes 4) little buttons in the top-right of every post? Where one says "Quote," another says "Edit" (for your own posts), a facebook-style "Like" (thumbs up), and then a button with a gear icon on it?
Click the button with the gear icon, and drop-down menu will appear. Click the option that says "Report Post" (you can't report an entire thread, but reporting a single post will do the job). Write a few words as to why you reported the post (even simple things like "Spam" or "Wrong forum" works wonders), then click "Report Post."
Bam! It's that simple. Once the report is made, all admins/mods will have a nice little notification waiting for us on every page on the forums, reminding us that a report is waiting to be viewed. Personally, and I'm not sure if the other admins/mods have it enabled in their notification settings, but I get an email every time a report is made, and I do what I can to check them immediately (if i'm at home, can't do anything at work).

If anything like this happens again you can be sure I'll report it first thing. I'm here nearly every day so I will catch what's going on more or less.

Didn't spot the offending thread, don't get much chance to catch up on the forum during the working day except briefly at lunchtime (phone data connection permitting). If I see anything like described I'll definately report it, not having a great community soured by actions like that.

No. People should move on. The person involved is gone for now and shouldn't take this opportunity to further progress the vitriol. The purpose of this thread is to report activity to mods immediately. It shouldn't be to continue the vicious attacks. Let's move on.

Arsenette said it perfectly.
The situation's been dealt with, move on. But, do report threads/posts if they look like they're in violation of rules.

Just to be clear, I didn't mean my comment to sound like "ooh, tell me what happened" . I don't feed the trolls

Thankfully, everything has been taken of regarding this recent situation. Thank you to everyone who brought the matter to our attention as quickly as it was noticed.
The issues occurred late last night in our time zones, which is why we didn't act upon everything until late this morning; fortunately, I had just enough time to take care of it before heading off to work.

I wasn't able to catch this one because of reasons and by the time I got back on it was taken care of. Glad things are better now in SMFland.

If you came here expecting Naruto then I dont think this is the right forum for you. If you are just a troll then enjoy are ban. Admin Edit: Removed offensive quote.

This is the same guy, he is just making new accounts with different e-mails to spam the forums, haven't seen one of these on a game/forum in a long time. Happened to me in an online game he made over 100 accounts just to spam.
