The Downhill Jump is a completely different obstacle than the Downhill Pipe Drop, it's this obstacleAnd the Floating Stairs and the Devil Steps aren't the same obstacle, yes Miyazaki Daisuke failed the Devil Steps in 21 and that was the only fail on them, the Devil Steps were in Venice in Season 4 (I forget if they were in the NW or SW but they were in both finals) and Denver this year, the Floating Stairs were in Denver last year and came directly after the SL and obviously in Miami this year. The Devil Steps premiered in Sasuke and was used in ANW, Floating Stairs is a new ANW obstacle

We'll looks like the earlier thread on the Miami finals was right Drew failed exactly were the the post so it would damn! I guess for this year will not only be know as the year of the women and walk ons but also the year where a lot of top athletes went out early. Probley time to pass the torch.

I sadly knew it too BUT! I thought he was going to botch the dancing stones... but not the downhill jump... Well now Drew can train again... with Flip Drew has moved to Houston and Works at Sam Sann Gym according to his profile this year. Man some good competitors went out tonight and ones I like Brown,Drew and Idoko I will have to wait until mid August to find out makes it from Denver and who got the wildcard invitations to Vegas.

I kinda don't want Drew and Flip as wildcards in Vegas. Flip no but drew did blow through the qualifier in 44 seconds which is more than Brett did to get his wildcard last year.

But still, they can't always just have their spots in Vegas handed to them like candy... If they want to be in Vegas as a wild card, he needs to prove it with his performances on the course, not his popularity.

Dreschel dominated the Asia Sasuke competition earlier, he may be the #1 American right now. NBC won't acknowledge it in all likelihood and in theory therefore shouldn't count towards him being a wild card, but he was also the only one allowed by NBC to compete in Japan if I remember correctly (Arsenette, correct me if I'm wrong--you have the details up on your own site). If anyone "deserves" a wild card on past/present, I would guess it would be Drew (if they still give out wild cards).

Absolutely no way does Drew deserve a wildcard spot. The person who finally wins this show should NOT have failed in qualifying. Earn your spot in finals for a chance to win the money. If you fail to make top 15 you should have to wait til next year.

I am fine with that but if they hand out wildcards which it looks like they will again then why is he less deserving then any other wildcard. Anyone that is a wildcard did not complete the course. Like I said if they give out wildcards I hope he is one of them. I am going by what NBC does not what they should do.

Drew may be "undeserving", but is he any less so than some random person who happened to be born with two X chromosomes, or some random person that happened to be born before 1974? Regardless, Vegas already happened, so it's kind of a mute point now.

I staying out of those threads because I am watching it as I go along I do not want to know who or what happened until after airtime.
Look I am all for just the 75 qualifiers running the courses from the City; I figured they are going to continue to do wildcards for several reasons. Just to clarify if they go with just the city qualifiers and no Wildcards I am fine no issues. If they are going to have Wildcards well I will root for people I would like to see or hope they are one of them to get the wildcard over other people.
Anyways I will fine out eventually what happens.

The safety mat at Minefield? at Miami looked a little more vertical (and slippery) than the mat at Rumbling Dice at STL. I saw a guy slipped and fell at the mat. Seems like they took a note at STL final.
As for three big names, Drew, Flip Rod, and Idoko, no chances they will get WCs? The MC said neither Drew and Flip Rod goes to Vegas. It's unlikely but possibly no WCs for this years' Vegas Final?
I was surprised that Ryan Stratis is still 30. I've been watching him for a long time. Thought he was a few years older than that.

The answer: (Vegas semi-spoilers, no results) Idoko got a wild card, the other two did not.

The Minefield was interesting, but wasn't as fun to watch as I thought it would be.

Why yes Idoko. It IS natural to stick a hand out for support. BECAUSE NO HANDS ON THE BALANCE OBSTACLES IS THE DUMBEST RULE THEY'VE HAD. I respectfully disagree...otherwise there's nothing to stop a competitor from crawling.
