English-speakers regularly will use incorrect grammar and syntax without realising or sometimes even just too lazy to correct it. Don't worry about it too much. Everything your translating is very clear & your doing an awesome job! Thanks for taking your time to do this for us. This. Translation never is perfect straight from the translator because often when translating someone will shift to one language in their head to understand it I've heard, this is why translation groups (whether it be official or fansubs) will have editors and quality checkers taking a look at it.

For the direct comments of the competitors, I'm trying to take direct, words to words translation approach as much as possible, trying not to be figurative, to convey the sense of true feeling of the speakers.

Post 3rd-stage-run interview of Kazuma Asa
(Right after the elimination at Crazy Cliffhanger before interview)
Voice-over, narration
His earnest desire didn't pay off. When he said that it (the gap between the two latches? of the Cliffhanger) looked far (wide) right before attacking the Cliffhanger, did he succumb to the pressure?
Interview
Asa: Before attacking it (the 3rd stage, or Crazy Cliffhanger), I was full of confidence.
Yappari Kuyasiina. (Very disappointing)
I was able to get past Crazy Cliffhanger at practice (with his homemade CC at the rooftop of his house)....
I thought that I'd overcome the barrier.
Nasakenai. (Pathetic)
Asa approaching his girlfriend after the interview.
Asa: Ah, gomen. Ah, Gomen. (Sorry)
Wanted to show you (to get past Crazy Cliffhanger)
Gomen. (Sorry)
Thought I had it.
Gomenna. Gomenna. (Sorry)

Not necessarily a request - is Kazuma Asa speaking Kansai-ben in his interview? I kept hearing him say "らへん" instead of the standard "ない."

Yeah its true but the more annoying factor is that most of the time the expressions make no sense when directly translated & when directly translated the grammar is usually always wrong and sometimes its even backwards. When I was 18 I lived in Europe for a year which required me to learn French & even after a year of speaking i still couldn't translate very well because i didnt know how to translate the french phrases into english expressions which people could grasp. (and the other way around) And for some reason i believe Japanese would proably be even harder. Thanks for translating the Asa' Interview!!

Not necessarily a request - is Kazuma Asa speaking Kansai-ben in his interview? I kept hearing him say "らへん" instead of the standard "ない." Not after the DQ. He kept politeness throughout the interview without using the local tongue, and talked to his girlfriend in the same manner (kept apologizing), just showed his true emotion. He's always like that after defeat. Complete honesty, (that made me cry)

You have to take into consideration the feeling and the nuance. Much easier to translate a text of indirect narration. And you're welcome. Asa is a leading figure in the 30th Sasuke, I think. So I'd like to spend a little more time to translate his part if I have more time.

After taking four years of Spanish in high school, to an extent I can understand the issues which arise during a translation from one language to another. There frequently are words and phrases which cannot be understood verbatim between particular languages (such as Japanese to English), while others do not tend to carry the same figurative meanings. For example, IIRC "完全制覇" (kanzenseiha) does not have an exact English equivalent, hence why it's roughly understood as "complete domination" or "total victory" (as these are, from my understanding, the most accurate/concise translations compared to the original Japanese meaning). The point which I am trying to make is that this all appears to be a natural part of the translation process. I doubt that many (if any) of us are confused by the translations you are providing, and that all of us really appreciate the time which you have devoted to helping us better understand the content of the program. By the way, out of curiosity, how accurately do the Japanese subtitles/translations of foreigners' dialogue (such as Drew in 30) compare to what they are actually saying in their native language?

I'm curious as to what was said between Yamada and his student after the student cleared.

Thank you, yamfriend. By the way, out of curiosity, how accurately do the Japanese subtitles/translations of foreigners' dialogue (such as Drew in 30) compare to what they are actually saying in their native language? That's a good question. Let me check.

I'm curious as to what was said between Yamada and his student after the student cleared. I'm not sure which part you are telling. Is it the dialogues between one of his disciples and Yamada after his 1st stage success, after the DQ at the 2nd stage, or some other part?

Yeah after the disciple cleared stage 1, where they hugged each other. Was pretty emotional.

Is it the dialogues between one of his disciples and Yamada after his 1st stage success, after the DQ at the 2nd stage, or some other part? Checked the comment of Dreschel after his 2nd stage run. It was straightforward translation / caption. It seems like that the stance of new Sasuke has been shifting (back) more towards serious sporting event. The director Inui seems to be trying to subtract comic-relief moments from the show. That stance might have affected the translation / caption of Dreschel. The previous director might have tried to distort, twist, or exaggerate for the purpose of creating a rivalry situation, US vs. Japan (kind of like pro-wrestling matches, good versus evil, David and Goliath).

Yeah after the disciple cleared stage 1, where they hugged each other. Was pretty emotional. It was indeed, big time. OK, I'll check it and do the translation.

forgot to ask about what Nagano said in his interview after his 1st stage victory and 2nd stage defeat. Also if Takeda had an interview after he failed the 2nd stage, I wish to know

Post 1st-stage-run interview of Hiroshige Yamamoto, disciple of Yamada Gundan "Kurotora" (Black Tiger)
Yamamoto: Wanted to get a good result...
My mother had a surgery today.
I thought that this (a good result) could give her comfort.
Katsumi Yamada talking to the camera
Yamada: (Yamamoto) said that his mother had a surgery of cutting off her left hand. Sugoinaa. Sugoi, sugoi. (Great job, tremendous)
Yamada and Yamamoto hugging each other
Yamada: Yoku ganbatta. (Great job)
Yamamoto: Yattaa. (I did it)
Yamada: (You were) angry (about her misfortune), weren't you?
Voice-over, narration
His mother's operation was successful. She has lost only two fingers instead of cutting off her whole hand.

As for the comments after Nagano's 2nd stage run, it's already done and has been posted in this thread.

Changed the text color of the translations to red (reddish) to be more noticeable.
