Mr. Sasuke They cut out the entire run! We don't even know where he failed. The whole point (for me) of Mr. Sasuke's participation is the DRAMA of seeing him fail yet again. Why can't they grasp that this is probably a major ratings guy despite him failing so much. The whole show has been set up to participate in the DRAMA of the people, not the sport itself (although that is surely also a part still). SHAME ON THEM FOR THE CUT!
Makoto Nagano Oh man, I really feel sorry for him. That damn 2nd course obstacle with the pipe-jumping really sucks. One guy actually failed despite getting the height, but the pipe slipped past the hook. Nagano probably just hit the hook by an inch or less. Sure he is getting "old" - but then 42 isn't really that old. He still could do the 2nd course. Btw. Did they make the 2nd "halfpipe" smaller in course 1 just so Nagano can pass, or is it the original size?

Do NOT piss off TBS. For years they dealt with his diva attitude off screen with crazy demands and scoffish attitude like a prima donna. For once I'm happy they put their foot down and told him to get off his high horse and move on from the show. He did one final miscalculation and TBS had enough. It's a shame on HIM for being an asshat in the first place. Don't blame TBS for cutting him. It's his own damn fault.

I don't know what he did to piss them off, but who cares. People know that he is half-insane. A guy who sacrificed his family just to participate is a silly game for fame... BUT that's part of the excitement of watching him. He is basically the fall-guy. Cutting him out of the show only hurts the ratings, which is stupid to do if you are a TV company. It's like people like to see Lindsey Lohan - BECAUSE she sucks so much. But on a sidenote, I really wish he could at least pass Stage 1.

There's only so much abuse they are willing to make for the sake of money. He's not a ratings draw anymore. He's not who he used to be and considered more of a train wreck rather than a real competitor. He's more trouble than he's worth now. Now he's not only a distraction but a hostile person. So as a result TBS is retiring him. They don't need to deal with him anymore. Good riddance I say.

I missed Yamada, because seeing him fail yet again is just too amusing. Sure he's a trainwreck and totally crazy, but that makes it even more interesting. Imagine the guy who lost his family because of his crazyness about Sasuke, and he can't even get past Stage 1 anymore. it's just weird.

Some part, probably the foolishly empathetic filmmaker in me wanted to one day see Yamada clear the First Stage again, even if he is a madman. You know, so the 'dog could have his day'. Still means we'd be in for a spectacular train wreck in the Second Stage Both parties would be happy. Alas, we'll never get to see that.

Yamada is such a lost cause we can't help but root for him...

We've sat with enough tournaments of Yamada whining and threatening to retire IMO.

Yamada made his name based on runs he made from SASUKE 1-12. 12 was in 2003 over a decade ago at this point. If he were in any other sport, we would not expect much out of him in 2014 (if he were still sticking around). Almost no one has been given more chances than Yamada (the Trio of Failure and Kastuhide Torisawa aside - and Torisawa is still a few shows away from matching Yamada). Both Shingo and Nagano had significant dry spells (five consecutive 1st Stage failures for Shingo, three for Nagano) but both of those periods were bookended by deep runs.
Interestingly, if we looked at Yamada's career in reverse, with the 1st Stage frustrations coming at the beginning with the glove disqualification in the middle leading into a series of successes we'd probably treat him like the greatest thing since butter and not the joke/failure/clown/crybaby/etc. that most see him to be right now.

Start small then grow. Yamada is the opposite...

Ok, what I want to know is: How many times has Yamada said that he was going to retire?

After Sasuke 8, 12, 17, and 24 Yamada threatened to retire if he did not pass the first stage. Lately, he has been talking about wanting to leave. He did not threaten to retire if he didn't clear the first stage in Sasuke 30. He's just ready to leave now. He was content to retire after Sasuke 28. Before Sasuke 29, I asked him if he was going to compete. He said no, he was retired. Several of his FB friends/fans (myself included) asked him to return. And TBS asked all of the All-Stars to compete in Sasuke 30, since it was an anniversary tournament. He agreed, but basically said that Sasuke 30 would be his last tournament. He's ready to step aside now, and attend only as a spectator.

Will that still be the case for Akiyama and Shiratori? Can they still come back to watch with the rest of the all stars?

I don't see why not. That would be a long trip for Akiyama, though.

I really hope this Yamada drama is done for good, it was cool at first, but now it's just boring.

I consider Yamada as a part of the entertainment show, I mean there's also that old guy weightlifting some cracy a** huge weights at the startline and then he falls into the water 1-2 obstacles later... Yamada is drama entertainment for me. So I am sad he wont be shown. Honestly, by now all of these "All-Stars" are pure entertainment only, except that Ninja-dude (but he's not really All-Star).
If they want to get rid of the All-Stars, they would have to build up new crowd favorites first. Nobody watches this show just for the "sports", Drama is a big part of it, you can only feel for somebody if you think you know him well. I don't care about a nobody who is super-athletic and climbs onto Stage 4.
I mean, Shingi, who cares, he never gets past Stage 2 anyway, and that Fire-Department guy with the weird eyes looks like he's suffering from Altzheimer or something, no serios contestant either.
