So if you said yes to this question.. here's what you need to know before you watch. I had a thread on this every tourney ( here is last year's) so I figured I should rewrite this with the hopes others would include their own experience. First of all.. This.. is not.. American.. Television. What you may be used to in your own home country (US or otherwise).. this is very different than what you are used to. Here's a few examples. - Cutting mid-run into commercials: TBS LOVES to cut in the middle of runs. So you get something like "oh he's about to jump".. (Insert beer commercial...).. Then they are back from commercial and immediately right where they left off. On rare occasions the person is back on the start line. Usually though it's literally right where they left off before the commercial.
- Frequency of commercials: - With the exception of Sasuke 28 (that started at 6:30 local time) they usually don't get a lot of commercials in the first hour. As the night progresses you will get more and more commercials. Last hour I assure you.. you will be screaming at the amount of commercials. So be prepared!
- There will be a news break: Usually around the middle of the 2nd stage (on average) we get a 5-10 minute news break. Don't automatically think the broadcast is over and freak out (or worse, turn it off). Just hang in there.. it will be over before you know it and they resume right where they left off.
- They don't finish at exactly top or bottom of the hour: Here in the USA we are used to (for the most part) having shows finish at exactly :00 or :30 however Japan doesn't do that. Even the main broadcast you will be finishing at 22:54 (local time). I know this trips up a lot of people when they first watch Sasuke. We usually stay watching until the next broadcast starts (or if you see the end credits). I always stay until the next broadcast starts. It's safer that way. LOL
Hopefully this will give you a heads up. Personally I love watching it even if I don't know all that they are saying. The commercials during the broadcast usually are just as fun as watching the tournament itself and adds to the experience. The sheer randomness of the commercials (and even their placement) adds to the color of the experience. For those who want a glimpse of what to expect on Thursday, I strongly recommend watching Sasuke Navi. That's a half hour preview of the show. Enjoy the broadcast!
For the record my "first" live was Sasuke 20 (and blog started with this btw). So this is my 2nd anniversary event and my 11th Sasuke tournament (Since I have to count 20) and numerous other shows in between. I can't believe how much time flies.. 6 years already.. gaaaaaaah. How many new people? I'm always thrilled to hear people watching this for the first time. Do share!

Number 6 live for me ^^ First was SASUKE 25 back in 2010, then seen 26-29 since then It only seems like yesterday when they revealed the UCH for the first time and everyone was like WTF is that! I'm looking forward to this one a lot, so hopefully it will live up to expectations and be an awesome tourney!

I think mine was either Sasuke 21 or 23. I really can't remember anymore. XD But obviously not my first.

Despite being a forum member since a few days after 23's airing, this will be the 5th live broadcast for me (4th if you don't count 28, which I watched spoiler-free the next day). My first one was 26. Unlike 28, hopefully I don't fall asleep minutes before the start of the upcoming tournament.

Either I go to sleep and wake up prior or stay up all night! But no matter what this will be my #1 and I'm super stoked! (technically G4 was doing a marathon when I first started watching SASUKE where at the end they would premier SASUKE 17. I caught it starting SASUKE 16 so my first tournament I saw for the first time was 17 but live? it's 30)

First live one for me. Most excited. Cooking yakisoba for dinner to get into the mood. (Sydney is only one hour ahead of Tokyo, so it'll be 8pm here when it kicks off.)

Been around since 21, but I first saw it live during 23. As as an extra treat, it just so happened to have aired on my birthday.
