Accidentally created my own thread for this but I'll copy this into here.
Stage 1 was ok, but I think the log grip and double warped wall have done their justice. Stage 2 pissed me off, specifically the SSL. I don't like how if you jump too hard the rung basically breaks and you are dqed I hope that the rings become permanent. Stage 3 was fantastic, great contestants, great course, great drama and excitement. I will say that the drum hopper is one of my new fave obstacles ever and even though no one failed it, everyone somewhat struggled with it. The final is fantastic, I just think the spider climb was too wet and if it was dry I think both finalists would have done better and I think Ryo would have won.[/quote]

I enjoyed 29 a lot more. 3rd Stage was great, but the rest of the broadcast made me cringe. Hioki was my favorite competitor by far. Why are people using spoiler tags?

Digests and Swap Salmon Ladder really pissed me off. THAT SSL!!! Screw it to hell and it's stupid rule. -_- {Spoiler} Takeda and Nagano were wrongfully written off as well as Kongu! Agreed. I thought the automatic disqualify on the salmon ladder made for anticlimactic television. Second Stage shouldn't be about getting everything perfect -- sometimes the most exciting stuff is seeing if/how they will recover from a tough situation. They have the time limit to punish mistakes, so if they don't end up in the water (or put their foot on a support) they should be allowed to recover however they can. As it was, we were left with a competitor hanging around in mid-air with plenty of time and strength left, but not allowed to straighten up and continue.

It was all very good to me, we have known about the SSL thing, and the only reason people are upset about it is because some of their favorite competitors messed up there...
Kawaguchi was a huge surprise. Ryo on the other hand, we know what he's capable of. I don't get why people dislike him....

That was a crazy tournament. I hated the way Shingo failed Spoiler I don't even know how it happened! Did he nearly drown?! I thought I saw a lifeguard too... He nearly Yuujied the backstream... Spoiler He said he swallowed water and couldn't catch his breath and so stopped Overall I thought it was a good tournament, a few things sucked but overall best of recent years.

I thought the tournament was great, however they should have showed more stage one I guess they needed room for Drew and Bunpei. I was fine with the SSL even if the rules were iffy, the contestants were told before their turns, and they had to have a good reason for it. I don't think the creators of obstacles can figure out how hard they want to make the backstream, super hard, or super easy. I like the idea of the backstream though and hope they finally figure out a good middle ground for it. The walls now almost touch the ground so they have to lift them (Arsenette has been pleased) and them almost crushing Morimoto was something.

TBH I don't like the rung snapping on the SSL while you jump to it. That's what happened to lots of big names.

Meh maybe later. Also GAH you thought the backstream was easy?! Shingo does it again and proves he finds a way to fail no one else could replicate...

Few comments, and trying to be as vague as possible as to not spoil too much. Super annoyed at how they skipped Lee and Nagasaki's entire runs. Not like they've been here for almost 10 years or anything. And they skipped a lot of elite competitors too. Why hype up certain competitors if they're not even going to pass (like that #2979 guy)? Just a waste of airtime. Still wondering about the reasons behind not showing Yamada's run. It was sweet to see one of his trained competitors make it through. Bunpei... so sad. Shingo... even sadder. Heart broke after Asa's run. :/ SO CLOSE RYO. That new Salmon Ladder ledge rule or whatever, REALLY annoying. How long's that been around again? I think it actually angered me more than the Backstream this time around...actually, the whole second stage was just really irritating. Kawaguchi's run was amazing, though the way it ended was pretty sad to watch...like ouch. Still probably the most pleasant surprise to watch. That Drum Hopper is frightening. You could totally break your wrist on that thing. My sister and I were losing it each time it was attempted. GAH SHINYA. Can't think of anything else to share at the moment... overall, very good tournament, one of the best since 23 in my opinion. It showed a lot of opportunity for the more recent competitors.

I will never look at that obstacle the same way again...

It was a great tournament. Lots of clears, and we got to see two final stage attempts. Ryo had such a good run, if that tower didn't increase he would have had it.

The SSL rules makes sense. Missing the rung and tilting the bar means, assuming you can reset and try again, you will eventually timeout anyways. It would take 15-20 seconds minimum just to re-do the whole thing again, and you still have 5 obstacles to go. Also, only the first and second set of rungs are equidistant apart. The DQ rule is necessary. Considering where most people who failed the SSL did, there's next to no way of correcting it.
