I really hate the SSL rule (and the obstacle in general really, it's dull as f***) but have to point out my own findings on my own slow-mo, It's really hard to see but it appears he was just slightly too low on one side, hit the very top of the upright portion of the notch before it slopes back and shoved it in (which we have seen happen on a few fails, most notably Someya Koki in 28), I still feel there's some serious B.S. involved since they manually re-released it...

Also there's the fact that it didn't need to be pushed in or out manually and could have just been set up like a normal salmon ladder

I'd agree normally but you heard the double clank of him hitting BOTH ledges then the violent jerk of the left side dropping. If he whiffed entirely you wouldn't have seen the violent jerk on the left side. Nagano's fail was different where he hit it and ricochet off it and the momentum of his swing knocked him to the bottom ledge.. THEN the ledge went in. Kong's was released WHEN he landed on the damn ledge. I heard Kong bitched big time but the mere fact that Inui didn't do a replay sealed the deal that in the editing room he saw Kong's case. Either way at this point there's so much wrong with this obstacles over 3 tourneys that it's time to just remove it.

But yeah the SSL is just a lame excuse for an obstacle with DQ's more often than actual failures... -_-

Good catch, I rereviewed Kenji's DQ at .25% speed and compared Nagano's at the same slowmo speed, You're absolutely right, when Kenji it folds in and you only hear him landing in the notches while in Nagano's you hear the impacting the notch and then the landing, the SSL is even more B.S. than previously thought and I already thought it was a piece of $#!+ already

i dont have a problem with the SSL or people being DQ for making a mistake on it. But did anyone else see the clip of Drew Drechsel on intagram doing the SSL without turning around? going like front transfer, back transfer, front transfer, back transfer. That could be something new they could do. I dont have a problem with how it is now but it looks way cooler, faster and exciting the way Drew did it in the clip.

I'll link this for anyone who hasn't seen it considering it was just mentioned.
I don't think it's the best idea to do on the actual course though... especially since you only have one shot on each jump so you have to aim perfectly.
