Nice vid of the presenter having a go Right at the end (3m 38s) when it's showing Ryo going along the Cliffhanger, is she saying "can you also achieve Kanzeseiha" ? Obviously you can hear the word Kanzenseiha, but my very rusty Japanese language ear picked up enough to hear "anata mo" and something like "o mizashite mitte wa, i kana desu ka ?"

Re: the pics from today: pic #1: as usual, at least one STQer looks goofy (Hioki, I'm looking at you, thanks for filling this quota this time!) - and Shingo adds his special brand of messing up pics. LOL.
Pic #2: today, the part of Kanno aka gratuitous shirtless Sasuke competitor will be played by Asa Kazuma sans body paint. Also, nice fans (and I mean the kind that cool you off as opposed to all of the lucky people who get to pay the big bucks and go Sasuke Park).
Wonder if anyone told the park management about the Cliffers and how even the ones who casual fans won't know will pwn the park?

That's the nice thing about the STQ crew - we can never predict who will fulfill the goofy expression quota in any given picture. We just know that someone will.

Also I found a video of some of the competitors taking on the Salmon Ladder, Iron Paddler, Drum hopper, and cliffhanger. To all of you guys who thought Shingo would fail the iron paddler would be blown away by how he performed on it! XD Wish I had the link to the video however but it is on the SASUKE park's facebook

I love that they are taking a lot of photos and posting them on twitter. I had to stop re-tweeting everything because it was an onslaught. LOL And yes the goofy pics are my favorite. It's nice that in that setting they can let loose and do goofy stuff. In Sasuke they are usually more reserved... except for Shingo. At least he's consistently goofy wherever he goes. LOL
As for the ringers. That's hilarious. There's a LOT of people that if given the opportunity will do well on the course (Yoshida, Tada, etc.) along with the rest of the Cliffers. I think they are just happy people are showing up. I know since they aren't stars they pay for their own ticket. All the park cares for is the money.
One thing that was told to me was that at the end of the summer, when the park is closed, the park will give the list of those who have cleared the course throughout the summer back to TBS (that's that list that Ube mentioned is being kept on the front page). They will select 1 person at random from that list for Sasuke 31.

The park definitely doesn't care who you are in terms of the kanzenseiha thing, to them it's just a number which is currently too high. I half understand the thinking behind it, but at the same time I totally disagree the concept itself. Basically the park's management has said that "it's not good if too many people make it to the final, because everyone will start underestimating Sasuke." What they've done to prevent finalists is make the 3rd stage incrementally harder every week. At first they lightly oiled the last bit of the pipe slider with silicone spray to make the jump harder; then they reduced the number of ropes on the bungee rope swing thing; next they made the distance between the cliff hanger boards much farther than even the real Sasuke; and finally the bit that pissed me off to no end yesterday... they SOAKED the entire pipe slider in silicone spray.
In the morning it was the light spray setting, but I messed up the jump and three people didn't (2 being Okada and Onobori who have home sets), so on my way around for a second go, management decided 3 finalists was too much for the day and bathed the pipe slider in silicone oil. It got ridiculous, you could just push off from the start line, not exert any energy and slide to the end. This then meant that any momentum building swing made the pipe go back to the start line. Urushihara was BARELY able to do it and even said that the current pipe slider setting is way too harsh for customers. When customers complained about the slickness of the pipe slider, the staff hilariously said "well Urushihara can do it so it's therefore not impossible." Then for some reason they decided to add more spray a bit later and Kong and Urushihara failed it regularly. (Official reason was a kid who tried it wasn't able to slide to the end so it looked like it needed more oil! WTF?)
Management then realized (after some reasoning with them) that yeah too many finalists makes Sasuke look easy, but if no one can make it to the final due to BS then everyone gets pissed off, loses hope, and loses the will to shell out $50 to try the park again. Also, if you see people make it to the final it raises the moral of customers and adds excitement. They'll probably tone down the silicone oil usage from now on... but maybe not because they seem to feel there are enough kanzenseihas and they didn't expect the level of the customers to be so high. I also feel that this sudden increase in difficulty kind of detracts the achievements of those who already made it. Oh well, that's probably why I'm not in business.

Boo to that! I know Sasuke is about competing against the course, but the course shouldn't be allowed to fight back like that.

It's called the course cheating! That IS unfair!

I'm not happy about the situation either. Luckily the park won't be around forever. Just frustrates me when they do crap like that.

(sighs) I would facepalm if I hadn't banged my head yesterday with a car trunk lid while putting stuff in the trunk. Seriously, if you make the park expensive to go to, and have the possibility of someone making it on to Sasuke by beating the park, then the people who are most likely to go are the diehard fans who are trying to and/or have competed on Sasuke, who practice this stuff on a regular basis. OF COURSE the park is going to be beaten by people who aren't testers or well known Sasuke competitors on a regular basis! And when the named competitors are complaining about obstacle conditions... (sighs again)

So is SASUKE park like muscle park 2.0? Muscle Park wasn't rigged. It was just a dump and never cleaned or maintained.

Well I'll be going in one last time tomorrow before the typhoon rains things out and I go on my annual trip to America. I'll let you guys know if they eased up on the silicone spray. My favorite dialogue was with the park staff last time I was there; "Okay good luck, just the pipe slider to go!" "Uh... If Urushihara failed it, there's no effin way I'm clearing it." "Not if you think like that... although if you think about it rationally I really can't blame you for feeling that way..."

Either way it's only up for a couple of weeks. Definitely let us know how things are going on your last visit.

You have got to be kidding me about what the staff said, although I know that you aren't... again, I would facepalm if I didn't have that stupid mild concussion. At least the staffer realized the logic in your statement, but then should have realized that meant it needed to be adjusted, especially when you have been a tester at the park and know WTF you're talking about. Good luck!

Tell me about it. I do know it's not TBS at all that is doing this. They were hired to do it. Curious if they will be used again in the future.

The pipe was on bone dry setting this morning, then light oil setting in the afternoon, so I was actually able to go to the final! Unfortunately, I found out that I have no idea how to efficiently climb a rope and it's something that needs a load of practice if you want to be fast at it. In other words I timed up with a meter left. I seriously need to figure out how to incorporate my legs (smoothly) into the rope climb if I'm going to get to the top in 16 seconds. Give me 20 though and I'll be there no problem =P As of now though I had a few instances where I pushed off with my legs only to find out they were grabbing slightly coiled rope and thus did nothing.
