The Floating boards are much tougher than the appear! Anyway it's great that the person that went the farthest gets to go to Sasuke 31 I hope for there sake they do well. If ninja warrior Sweden and other European ninja warriors like the one happening in the U.K. does well mabey Europe can have its own grand course like the one in Japan or Las Vegas. Yeah, and in the rain? I'm actually surprised even one of them made it. I hope so too, but he better look at some Sasuke clips to know what he's in for, because this course won't prepare him, haha! That would be awesome. It's cool that we're seeing more of it in Europe now, I'm hoping that'll lead to great things in the future. ^^ Also a closer look at the last course here: sasukehipsters.blogspot.se/2015/03/ninja-warrior-se-stage-three-part-two.html

It really sucks how the integrity of Sasuke has been ruined in international shows. Redos are inexcusable unless an obstacle messes up.

To be fair it's not Sasuke they are recreating thus the reason why all of these are being pushed into it's own section in ANW. TBS/Inui aren't involved in this at all, it's strictly an American spin off.

Even ANW doesn't give re-runs short of obstacle malfunction

Seems casting for next season is underway, 'cause I just got an e-mail asking for an extended interest application and a health declaration. The e-mail says I'll be asked to come for an audition in a few weeks, but I'm not hoping for too much yet. Still, great that it's happening!

Tester perspective. For those who know him, this is Perry from the Netherlands.

Oh, that's cool! The thing he did with the Arm Rings, swinging from afar, was actually done by a guy on the show. Apparently that was a planned tactic then...

Testers show how they clear ALL obstacles before they are tried. Sweden and Turkey though took it a step further and had the actual competitors test out the obstacles as well.. so it's not surprising they'd practice to mimic a clear.

Yeaah, I noticed he showed Henning clearing the course in that video, and he's a competitor. Though I can't swear that wasn't his actual run, but it seemed weird.

Now that Season 1 is over I think I will share my view on the show given that I was present in the audience for pretty much the entire taping. Let me start to point out that there were no reruns while I was there and the only instructions given to the contestants were when the testers showed how to beat an obstacle. There were however one occasion when the arm rings broke and that particular contestant obviously fell in the water. It was getting quite late so I didn't stay on while they were repairing it, so I don't know if he had another chance or not. I hope he did. To sum things up, I was surprised at the level of professionalism showed by the production company. I thought it would be a lot tackier since Ninja Warrior wasn't very famous in Sweden before this event. It also rained a lot but the staff/testers managed to keep things dry, although it sometimes took hours before they could start taping again. When the final three had their go at stage 2-3, sunrise was approaching and when it started to rain again time was running out and the finalists still had to tackle the floating boards which is not an easy task even in the driest of conditions. I thought it was the rain that made two of the three finalists fail at the boards, but now when I see it on tv I don't think they would have made it anyway; their technique was not the best.
From my point of view, the only thing edited was the order of runs and the hosts of the show being added afterwards - the two guys, Adam and Mårten, were there for like five minutes and then they went back to their warm, dry homes. The woman was there the whole time though because she had to do the interviews. I have just one complaint and that is that you couldn't buy any food or drinks at the set and when they were taping the final, I was so hungry. And cold. But the producer took pity on the handful of people left in the audience and let us take cover in the heated tent used by the staff and contestants. We were promised goody bags, but there was not much in them; a magazine, dried berries (which saved my life) and toothpaste. Lots of toothpaste. I was hoping for a t-shirt or a cup or something, but instead got seven toothpaste tubes (!).

Oh, that's awesome to hear. I saw some people on Facebook complain about the rain and how that would never happen in Japan (lol), but yeah, the guy built like a fridge had no chance on the floating board either way. And tought weather is just something you have to deal with on this show.
I also wondered about how much Adam and Mårten were actually there and I'm not surprised that it wasn't much. Some things they said made it very obvious, but I can't remember what now.
Well, even if I don't get to compete this year I definitely wanna go see it being taped. And not just because I want to get free toothpaste!

I'm glad it wasn't as bad as Turkey from what I hear (they literally stopped mid production to let them train through it taking a full day of taping to do it.. /facepalm). I'm guessing the practice runs were the day before taping. I remember being upset when I heard it. GIven also that it was shown in the video I posted it could have been something like the day before and only a few people. I just hope the practice is removed entirely. Hoping UK didn't and so far I haven't heard anything about it yet. (Crossing fingers) Sucks they didn't organize better to have food for the people watching! Even Sasuke does that (allowing people to buy from the food carts they provide). ATS though (the ones that build it) are a bunch of nice guys. I may question some of their building tactics but as a whole they are nice guys and whenever I have issues with how the course is constructed I get jumped on because they are really such nice guys. So, it doesn't surprise me that they made a good impression. Interesting about the hosts. That's pretty sad they weren't there for the whole thing. While there's looping involved in production, at least in all other productions you have the hosts there for the whole thing. Also.. you .. ate.. toothpaste? LOL about people complaining about the weather. I'm assuming they never saw the show if they said it would never happen in Japan.

Let me clarify that there were no practise runs by the contestants, I was there the day before as well. That would be considered cheating, unless everyone could do it of course. If just some were given that chance in some kind of secret manner, it would surely come out and then no one would bother participating again. People were walking in and out of the production area unhindered at all times and I could have filmed it all and made my own version of the show; there was no camera ban or signing agreements or things like that. In addition, the set was built in a public park and you could see right through it at all times from far away. The video posted by Perry (The coarse tester experience) shows Henning's actual run, which is quite obvious from the text in the video, "Competitor", the cameras following him and the audience in the back. The only thing the contestants were practising on was a rather rickety-looking salmon ladder backstage.

Hmm interesting. There's some contradiction with my own reports but it was minor compared to the debacle in Turkey. And no that won't stop people from showing up if it guarantees certain things. Lord knows that hasn't stopped a lot of people from entering these spin offs.. LOL I'm thinking the fact that it was open in a public park could have contributed to the reports. Either way I'm sure whatever issues there were in the inaugural year it will be fixed for this year. I'll just leave it at that. And yes I know about Perry from the Netherlands. He's also a member here and we've been good friends for a at least a year. Most people here know him from the ASEAN Cup and alternate in USA vs. World. Cool guy.

In the show we also saw people practising the Jump Hang, on like a small trampoline and tiny net on the ground. I don't remember if they showed the salmon ladder, but they were at least upfront with the fact that you could try smaller versions of the obstacles backstage.
