Please keep ALL discussion for these episodes in their respective threads. Monday, May 26, 2014 - NBC Network8:00 PM - S06, E01 - Venice QualifyingDescription: Season 6 opens with a qualifying round in Venice Beach, Cal., and features obstacles such as the Slack Ladder, the Jumping Bars Into Cargo, and the Cannonball Alley. Contestants include Olympians Susan Francia and Kate Hansen. Going to be using TV Guide and winging it to get the correct dates. This is Qualifying from Venice Beach, California on NBC. Please keep this specific episode on this thread only. Don't bring up other regionals into discussion here. Keep that on those threads. REMINDER: There are people who did not read the respective spoiler threads from when the competition was taped.. please do not include information from that thread here. Stick to the episode shown. Last reminders of course that all of this thread is a spoiler thread for what is shown on official broadcasts.
Please let me know if it's also going to be airing in Esquire network. I haven't kept up with the season so not sure where it's airing outside of NBC.

Seems like on esquire website (http://tv.esquire.com/shows/american-ninja-warrior) they have listed Tues May 27th 9pm. Might just show what plays on the 26th on NBC

Unsure because G4 had their own programming. When it that time comes someone check that for us so we can see if we need to monitor that as well. It could be a repeat but it also could be original programming (like G4's) and show cut runs from the NBC airing.

From what I've heard the episodes premiere on NBC and get reran on Esquire network the next day, makes sense considering how many episodes NBC has this season. Looks like we might be spending two weeks per region (per round) if that's the case... Not results but obstacle discussion odd they're mentioning "Cannonball Alley", the only obstacle on the whole course that name would fit is the obstacle right after the Salmon Ladder, this should be a qualifying episode

NBC is getting both better and worse at obstacle names. Cannonball Alley is an awesome name, on the other hand Jumping Bars Into Cargo is an awful name lol.

Hmm, I should petition NBC to rename the quintuple steps "Flat Platform to Angled Platform to Angled Platform to Angled Platform to Angled Platform to Angled Platform to Angled Platform at 90 Degrees to Other Angled Platforms... Over Water." Since accuracy helps with describing obstacles and all... since people may just think "Quintuple Steps" is five steps you walk up, I'm sure.
(I did actually like the "Ring Toss" name for the rings on pegs in Dallas, though.)

I think they saw the fun we had with "Utility Pole Slider" and they thought "Oh, laugh at that name will ya... We'll show you"

If they had just named it Utility Pole, I think it would have been much less funnier.

No you cut the wrong word, the fact it was Utility Pole Slider was funny, had it just been Pole Slider that wouldn't have been that hilarious since that's what it was. Yeah it had handles like a Utility Pole but the name didn't need that detail lol Although I guess we should get back on course (pun not intended but works) to talking about the episode airing a week from monday or something lol

NBC is going all in with ANW this year.
It's currently slotted for 2-hours every Monday, from 9pm-11pm. (Whether they cut it down to 1 hour later on, like for Vegas, is still unknown.)
NBC has 3 hours of ANW on Monday, May 26: "Countdown to American Ninja Warrior 2014" from 8pm-9pm, and "Venice Beach Qualifying" from 9pm-11pm.
Afterwards, "Last Comic Standing" re-runs from 8pm-9pm are scheduled to serve as ANW's lead-in, starting with the week of "Dallas Qualifying" on June 2.

Awesome that's really helpful especially when I check for the ratings slots. So just once a week every Monday for how many weeks?

The tentative schedule right now has ANW6 starting on May 26, and finishing on September 15, for a total of 15 episodes.
There are two planned preemptions: NBC is currently scheduled to air a re-run of USA VS. Japan on July 7, and the Emmys will bump ANW on August 25.

5 regional qualifiers, 5 regional finals, 5 episodes for Vegas. Makes sense

I think there are 13 episodes. 5 quals, 5 regional finals. 3 in vegas. All 2 hours long. Last year we had 5 vegas shows for 6 hours of footage, I believe? Same this year in less episodes.
No point in going any longer in sept, Monday night football is going to crush the last two episodes as it is.
