Because offseason. For instance, if your birthday is on the 1st of the month, describe SASUKE 1.
Mine: The easiest Second Stage in SASUKE history

Nagano's victory.
Pretty easy to guess the date based on that one.

Last of the green mat era, near miss on the final.
Bonus: We barely have footage of it

Akiyama beat the first stage for the first time after his Kanzenseiha and it was the first of Nagano's three consecutive, but unsuccessful, final stage attempts.

In Stage 3, a flaw with the design of the gliding ring forced Nagano to pretty much pipe sllde the ring down to the end, and he did not have enough momentum to make the platform and failed
BONUS: TAKEDA BECAME THE FIRST PERSON TO BEAT THE SHIN CLIFFHANGER

The all-stars all failed the first stage in epic fashion. Paul Anthony Terek was still competing and Levi whiffed the first stage. Sato's smirk™ made it to the 2nd stage only to combo break. Yuuji was still wearing his UNCLI shirt and when he made the final for the first time everyone lost their marbles causing the first (and only) 3rd stage birthing of kittens display. Still though, Yuuji wasn't fast enough to win.

First major course renewal, Takeda's debut, only 3 First Stage clears (all of which would eventually be considered All-Stars), a single Second Stage clear (Shingo, with only 0.3 seconds left), first competition without a Final Stage attempt.
Oh, and we have even less footage from this tournament than the one Rider alluded to... :/
