My Ninja Warrior hobby is starting to take over…
I am looking for two things by posting this: I want feedback on what else to build (along with ideas on how to build it without getting to unrealistic). I want to link up with some cool guys who are down to train with me on a regular basis. I live in Ogden Utah.
This video is the official first video of many more "training" and building videos to come.
I am adding a new section inspired by Shinya Kishimoto and FS Park.
I haven't been on the boards for a while. What can I say, I have been busy.
PS. Good luck to everyone competing on ANW6!

Before I watch the video, one piece of advice: Offer up a competition & 4 stage course to inspire people to come. Most NW places' most popular days are competition days, and some people come from hours away.

I would love to host a competition. I am even will to put up prize money, but I think too few people know my course even exists. I have a few rock climber friends that stop by once in a while, but no serious competitors. It seems the amount of ninjas in Utah is low compared to you East Coasters.

I would come for sure! But I live in Georgia and I feel the same as you do. I have 2 or 3 obstacles and none of my friends are interested in it. So it's just me, and gets kinda lonely and it would be so much more fun if I could find Atleast one person to train with. I wonder why people do not take interest in Ninja Warrior???

It is nowhere near as fun, but I also tend to push a lot harder when I know someone is watching haha. Not to mention building all of the obstacles on my own is taking up too much time! Even in the last couple of days since filming this I have finished the inverted climb and the floating doors so now I have a completed stage 3 (once I find some doorknobs that won't break on me). I will film something soon.
Let me know if you ever come out this way!

But also it's just fun to have someone that is crazy about ninja warrior just as much as you are, and don't make fun of you about it. I doubt I will ever be out in Utah haha, but I apreciate the offer. One quick question, what kind of structure do they call that round piping as the frame of your obstacles? And where can I buy from?

It is 1.5" galvanized pipe. They come in 21' lengths. I believe it is used for plumbing typically. I looked into actual scaffolding, but it wasn't strong enough to span long distances without putting a brace every 6 feet or so. I buy it from a local contractor supply store www.gwsupply.com. The pipes are about $45 each so is isn't the cheapest way to go, but you can change it up much easier then wood, and it will last forever even in bad weather. They deliver it to my door for free, but it is because it is only a couple miles away. I bet you can find a supplier near you. I buy my scaffolding clamps from scaffold express.com but only because my local scaffolding supply store is about 3x more expensive so it is cheaper for me to pay for the freight to come to my house from texas lol. I am actually going to start adding more youtube videos specifically on building obstacles as it seems that nobody goes into any detail on this topic, with the exception of a few things from CCNWTC.

As a word of advice, always buy from local stores. Home Depot and Lowe's are good options for what mom and pop stores can't sell you but the smaller stores usually have better prices on these sorts of things.

Sick course! Thought about building spinning bridge (balls), jumping spider, rolling escargot, pipe slider, or half pipe attack?
Have you met up with Jason Williams? He lives in Draper, I know he's also got some of his own home-built obstacles as well. And he's a beast.

He lives in Draper, I know he's also got some of his own home-built obstacles as well. And he's a beast. I should have my spider jump done this weekend depending on how much free time I have. I also have a plan in the works to extend one side of my warped wall to form a half pipe attack. Above my flying bar is an already build pipe slider, but it is rather crude. Otherwise I am a little stumped on how I would build the spinning bridge and the rolling escargot. The rolling escargot was one I was worried about facing in competition because it seems like such an odd ball one to try for the first time. But I am assuming because Venice got it this year that Denver will not. I did see that CCNWTC has a rolling escargot, but it looked sketchy and they had about 12 guys spotting the guy running just in case he fell. I did see a rolling escargot that didn't actually roll down a track, but stayed in place and just spun that looked a little more doable, as well as a little less hazardous. I know need more agility style obstacles, as most of mine are upper body. They are just such a pain in the neck to build and most of them are a little too easy to dedicate so much time to, especially when the odds of getting that same obstacle are so slim. I am getting to the point now that I have most of the signature obstacles, though I still want to hang a huge rope for when I make it to stage 4 lol! Jason commented on my video and I am sure we will link up soon. It will be great to have someone to push with rather then just myself and the occasion rock climbing buddy that can only do the cliff hanger and nothing else haha!

Shaun Summers built a version of the spinning bridge using barrels suspended by ropes. Not perfect but it does give you a feel for how to step on spinning objects. I'm not sure if there are any videos of it though. Josh Kronberg has a version of the rolling escargot that seems both easy to make and pretty safe, although it seems to roll slower than if it were on a decline. www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201477399688206&set=vb.1572333749&type=2&theater

I have debated doing it with barrels and I think I am going to move forward with it as the spinning bridge can be expected to stay in the competition. If you happen to stumble upon a video or even pictures of the one Shaun built let me know. He has the ugliest rolling escargot I have ever seen, but it looks like it does the trick haha!
I suppose I will save the rolling escargot for another day. As I said before I doubt it will make 2 appearances this year.
Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

Thanks. This gives me some ideas.
I got the floating boards hung today, as well as finishing the inverted climb (I forget the official name, the one before the spider flip on stage three) and the spider jump. It would be nice to add a spinning bridge to what I am now calling Karson's Kastle (a nod to David Camble's Castle).
I appreciate the link.

So I just randomly went on you tube and watched your video. Then I was really wanting to build a course myself. Then I googled Ninja Warrior course ogden, UT and your video and this site came up. Low-and-behold you are from Ogden and I just moved here 3 months ago and would love to come check it out. Shoot me an email at ddinsmore87@gmail.com to get your phone number or address.

Assuming you're new here... You can actually PM KNinja by clicking his account then hitting "Send Message" and it's private. That's probably where this exchange should happen.
