I'd be super surprised if the Flying Nunchuks were obstacle #4. Given how difficult it was last year in Venice, they'd make that obstacle #5 (which is usually the hardest grip obstacle in the opening round). It was hard last year because nobody expected it. If they have it again this year it won't be nearly as hard, considering all the gyms I've seen with nunchuck replicas. Everyone will have had a year of practice on it.

If every unexpected obstacle leads to a ton of failures, maybe competitors should reevaluate their training methods. My two cents.

There were 12-14 competitors who got past the nunchucks last year, so there were 12-14 competitors who trained correctly. Anyway just trying to say that if they bring the nunchucks back this year it won't be the ninja killer it was last year.

I hear you. I just also disagree with you. We view training very differently, and we should chat about it some time. Obviously not here (in this thread) because this isn't the place for it.

Obstacle #4 in Dallas sounds like it is the Giant Swing to Cargo Net, like Baltimore last year. I don't have the Giant Swing part confirmed, but the Cargo Net (climb-under structure) is definitely there.

I'm going out tonight again. Hopefully they'll be running or testing. Regardless, I'm gonna make another video. Expect it in the morning or late tonight.

The scaffolding at #5 looks very akin to the Circle Cross. Perhaps #4 will be the Giant Swings from last year's Venice semis. And I'm thinking that #2 has to be the Log Grip based on past experience. Looking forward to tonight's update.

Based on this clip ob5 looks much like the Floating Stairs from Denver last year (although as a stand alone obstacle instead of being after the Salmon Ladder) Obstacle #4 in Dallas sounds like it is the Giant Swing to Cargo Net, like Baltimore last year. I don't have the Giant Swing part confirmed, but the Cargo Net (climb-under structure) is definitely there. Hazard Swing, not Giant Swing, the Giant Swing was the trapeze thing, the Hazard Swing was the standing one that the Swing Jump was adapted from, but quite possible.

Good call Rider, on both fronts. First, yes, absolutely the Hazard Swing and not the Giant Swing. I should know, I did the Hazard Swing last year in Baltimore :-)
Second, good eyes...I have confirmed from the ground that it is more the set-up of the Floating Stairs from Denver last year and not the Circle Cross. They haven't built it out yet totally, but the framing is that of the Floating Stairs.
So exciting! Can't wait to get to try them in a few days :-)

Will you have videos of your run, Matt? Looking forward to seeing you clear. Obviously you won't put them on Youtube or anything, but. You know. There are... other ways.

Well I can't help out by recording his run like in Baltimore last year, I'm going to a complete different city (and have to walk on there).
And technically the Swing Jump, variation of the Hazard Swing with a cargo net and going under instead of a bar and climbing up onto a platform, either way a very fun obstacle. But yeah, definitely more Floating Stairs than Circle Cross, if it was the Circle Cross the scaffolding wouldn't be there like that at all, you'd just have the hanging rails and ropes instead of angled scaffolding.

I don't know if I'll get video, I hope to. I'll try to! Can't believe it is just around the corner. Ready to go to Dallas!

So I got there too late last night and they had the whole park shut down and fenced off. I will be out in Dallas late tonight again however, so hopefully I can get one new closer look.

Can someone list the obstacles in order as they know them. Example: 1.Steps 2xxxxx Thanks It seems like from the videos & pictures, the qualifying round's obstacles are 1- Quintuple Steps 2- Log Grip 3- Balance Bridge (Sasuke 11 version) 4- Swing Jump 5- Floating Stairs 6- Warped Wall It's safe to assume that the City Finals will have the Salmon Ladder & Spider Climb

I saw them making the log grip in Venice, so that will definitely be an obstacle

With those obstacles listed it looks like Dallas should have several people clearing the course.
