It was pretty amazing. More amazing than a female clearing the regional course. Not saying that didn't happen either.

Things ANW needs: 2. A 3rd Stage Clear/Final Stage attempt. 3. Total Victory. (Going on seven years counting ANC and no one's even beat Stage 3) Don't worry, they will probably keep most of the course the same this year and make stage 3 easier. NBC wants a winner more than anyone so they can say an American beat the "toughest obstacle course in the world."

Someone beat the Salmon Ladder on 1 jump? As for the scooping thing, I'd try harder to snoop and scoop some info because I'm still very interested in ANW but I was kicked out of the comrade group (for no reason) and I don't think anyone wants to just give away info this year due to circumstance.

They dangle a $500,000 prize to get people interested with no intent of ever giving it away.

Here's a 17 minute fluff piece about his girlfriend who will fail the 5th obstacle." Also, imagine how much flack they'd get for all 21 people failing the Second Stage.

But I thought it was all about keeping the 500k? Whatever...

Then why let Brent run stage 3 when he clearly timed out on stage 2? =/ Can't sell a 4-stage course if you only show half of it. NBC's best bet is to have someone wipeout at Stage 3. Still can promote the show with a decent result while preserving the budget.

Especially when it would probably boost next year's ratings and advertising. They would gain a lot with marketing and exposure. I think their wanting a winner is the reason they made the second stage easier last year and didn't change the third stage after having someone get far in it. If they don't change it again then it's hard to argue against them wanting a winner in my opinion.

I'm going to be completely honest here: if you think 500k means anything to a multi-billion dollar corporation, you are completely nuts. Numbers have historically shown that the show costs virtually nothing to produce compared to its advertising revenue, and a winner would certainly result in a ratings boost, so how ANYONE can claim that NBC doesn't want a winner based on some conspiracy theory really needs to chill tf out.

While remember last year Arnold almost clear stage 3 and in America vs Japan Paul Kasmier did really well in stage three as well.
At one time no one cleared the Cliff Hanger but it happened and the talent pool is greeting better and better
Just my take

I am replicating the "red balls" obstacle (I don't know what is officially named) that was immediately after the salmon ladder in Venice. I have the balls/holds from atomic holds, but I am having a hard time finding an image or video that gives me a clear picture on the spacing between the balls. They seem to be offset from left to right to left and all at the same height. I am okay with guessing at it, but it is nice to have at least a slightly better frame of reference to work from. I figured I would post it here as my odds of getting someone who has seen it in person is more likely on this thread. The best reference I have found is at the end of this:
But the angle is not the best for guessing at dimensions.
Any help is much appreciated.

you'll know it when you see it, but you'll see crazy stuff from other city before you see the wildness that happened in Venice if that answers your question.
