Looks like the same form as before, but a lot has happened to me in the past year, so I should probably change some answers to reflect that. As usual, the worrying about getting picked again and slipping during qualifying if I do get picked...

Anything about foreigners applying/not applying?? There is no wording about non-Japan residents not being able to apply but hasn't Inui made statements about no Americans (from America) on twitter?

I have no chance in hell at applying. I mean I can read Katakana & Hiragana just fine, but I only know 150 Kanji, so yeah.

Anything about foreigners applying/not applying?? I talked to Inui about that a few months back, and he explicitly said the applications of people living outside of Japan will not be accepted, but foreigners living in Japan are okay. The reasons were understandable. Basically it's a Japanese variety show designed primarily for a Japanese audience, who like seeing people from Japan (mostly) competing because they can relate to them. The other reason was in the event a foreigner outside of Japan is successful, they want to get footage of them at work and training in their home environment for the fluff pieces and that's just not in the budget. Looks like the same form as before, but a lot has happened to me in the past year, so I should probably change some answers to reflect that. As usual, the worrying about getting picked again and slipping during qualifying if I do get picked... Do you use Twitter or facebook? Try sucking up to er...gently reminding Inui about the last time around. As stated above, I have talked to the guy after the trials last year and he still seems to remember me (too my surprise). I think the prospect of adding "elementary school English teacher" to the list of random competitor jobs stuck in his head. Hopefully I will remain the only one applying haha.

I'm late to the party Posted my blog on it.From everything Inui's been telling me, future consideration for the foreigners participating (those living outside Japan) would be considered via their participation in the ASEAN Open. I assume they vet them during the tourney if they want to add them to Sasuke Japan's roster. No word though how they are going to do that though and if it will be this tourney coming up. I know he was clear that it wouldn't be a 1-1 ration (meaning whoever won) as this is still a television variety show in Japan and TBS controls who ends up going in the end if it fits their current theme. They were also clear to make sure they didn't repeat the problems of the past where G4 took over the place, so the days of 10 Americans (or any other country really) are done. I'll keep you guys posted if I hear anything new.

Hopefully we do see a few foreigners who were at SAOC other than Li (who's likely to be invited back once again IMO). I totally understand the idea of having almost entirely Japanese competitors, but having 5-10 foreigners in SASUKE 30 (and further tournaments) would be a welcome variety to the show as well as an emphasis on international interest in the program. Besides, almost every tournament in the past has had at least one foreigner (SASUKE 13 is the only one I can think of that was solely Japanese competitors), and often these competitors contributed something which made the show more compelling. In fact, if it wasn't for American-born Kane Kosugi, SASUKE probably never would have risen to such domestic and global popularity.

Thanks I'll update that now. As for foreigners, you know I fight to have them there. I just didn't like the lopsided way G4 did things to the point where it help bring down the show as a whole. There's plenty of discreet ways of putting them there without influencing the show one way or the other.
