Minimum age of 18 and open to all countries. Mike are you going to put together a team for the US? Just remember NBC will probably disown you, but it may be worth it to have a shot at Japan!

Sasuke is the goal. Sasuke has always been the goal. Sasuke. By any... means... necessary.

Thanks for the update Philip! For those who were curious wtf this whole event was in the first place just read the previous thread (unless the mods want to merge it but at this point I think a separate thread is warranted). About damn time the information was updated though.. took them long enough. Btw anyone going update us here on your progress. This is the first year of many years (they are hoping for this to be a yearly event) so I expect some glitches. Good luck to everyone! For the Americans this is the only path to Sasuke now.

Is it crazy that I am considering applying despite the fact I'd have to spend a ton of money? I feel like I am actually in very good shape fitness-wise, coming off the heels of my marathon and, by february, another half marathon race. ...I can easily do the 10+ and 20+ pull ups and push-ups... but I just don't think I can afford it! lol

Hold a fundraiser Spaghetti dinners! Haha, well, I could put my sicilian uncle to work... and also beg him to pay for $2000+ flights! I'll be 20 in February, so regardless, I guess I am getting closer to being able to compete in some form. Not really looking forward to getting older though to be quite blunt!

Finally had a chance to write an article on the event. Nothing new just a compilation and update for the website.

Can't do a pull-up yet and I'm not 18. But it is nice to hear that it could be a qualifier for Sasuke. I'd like to see some international variety for the 30th. (Unlike the 29th, where the only foreigner was Lee)

"-Sasuke Sports takes the raw intensity of overcoming an obstacle course as seen in the Sasuke television show and combines it with the fierce competition of sports. As opposed to the single-elimination “last man standing” setup of the Sasuke television show, athletes fight for the best clear time as they go head-to-head in a series of obstacles designed to test different skill sets."
"-The ASEAN Open Cup invites athletes from around the world to compete in Sasuke Sports on a global scale. There will be two days for qualifiers followed by a pair of main event featuring 3 areas. The first day of the main event is for individuals while the second day is for teams."
So, with that following information, there will be an ANW style qualifer to compete in boot camp to go to Sasuke Rising in Japan.

Something for people to keep in mind about the ASEAN cup. The ASEAN cup is not a qualifier for Sasuke Rising, in fact they in no way advertise a ticket to Japan as the prize for winning. It was simply said that there is a strong possibility and that it is expected that the winner will be invited to Sasuke Rising due to TBS collaboration with the event. Also, since Sasuke Rising is a TV show and not a sports event, the situation can unfortunately change on an executive's whim. The ASEAN cup is viewed in a way as "one up" from Sasuke Rising in that it is a genuine sporting competition to determine who is the best in the world.
I know it would seem a bit stupid not to invite someone who has claimed the title as "best in the world at Sasuke," to Sasuke Rising, but since when did the TV world make sense? You also have to imagine what happens if a Japanese competitor wins. Do they invite the best non Japanese competitor to Sasuke Rising? I know Sasuke in Japan is the ultimate goal for everyone, but I for one am glad the ASEAN cup is around because it gives a chance for anyone in the world to test their strength on a Sasuke course without dealing with as much corporate BS. I can't afford the time off and money to go, but I like the nature of the ASEAN cup because you can compete without the stigma of people thinking you just wanted to be on TV. Hopefully I'll make it there at some point to compete myself.
