Man, after hearing all these comments about how horribly the network screwed up the presentation, I almost feel bad for enjoying this. I thought it wasn't as good as Sasuke, but I felt it didn't totally discredit the Japanese side, and in fact was a lot more respectful than I expected (mentioning Yuuji's second victory and all the tournaments, calling it Sasuke rather than Ninja Warrior).
I could have done without the stupid nicknames for the Japanese vets (seriously, I've never heard anyone call Shingo "The Godfather"), but I didn't think that USA vs. Japan was that bad. Maybe a bit overproduced, but not to an insulting degree.
Then again, I watch a crapload of reality TV competitions, so maybe my standards are a bit low.

Despite some of the stuff that happens behind the scenes (even in Japan there have been their moments, so NO ONE is without fault) I think they really did do a good job overall. They showed a lot of respect for both teams and they actually did do a good solid of talking about (albeit brief, but showed there is canon currently) the current Sasuke competitions. In a way, I hope to see them keep doing this for the USA vs. Japan, hopefully if the figureheads of NBC can get their heads out of their butts, going both ways of us going to the original Midoriyama for the 5 on 5 and here with our Vegas Midoriyama. Also, when it comes to the reality TV competitions, I'll take this any day over what's been done for a little while now with some of the hack competitions that are abound.

Yeah, with all that happened during ANW for the DSL, that shows they need to go back to the drawing board on that design and try to be even more closer to the Japanese counter part, pegs and the bar that's used.

Would've have loved to see Nagano running. Anyone else think it was kind of a-hole ish to put the victory music when the Americans won and the camera showing yuuji crying and asa all down

A few things of note about the course, 1: The HPA landing pad is actually covered in padding, I'm shocked you can't see all the flaps of where the pads fold, and don't complain to them about making it solid wood (when it's not) considering 27 actually did exactly that . I think you have something backwards here. As for the Rope glider, nope, no one got hurt from it in ANW5. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the trampolines are what made the difference in Asa's run, we all know the elastic band trampolines they use in Japan, in ANW they oddly use spring trampolines, I found that out when I went for the Salmon Ladder in Baltimore and almost crashed into the bar lol (I didn't but I jumped way higher than I expected lol )

That's kind of annoying yet hilarious that NBC would have gotten hold of (and used) our copies of 28 and 29 in their broadcast. Maybe they even got it by stumbling upon the DVD thread. Also, I believe that Shingo got married some time around SASUKE 5 (March of 2000). According to G4, it was discussed heavily during his run in that broadcast.

So, they revealed that 28/29 has already happened in Japan. They still aren't going to show it. Too much of a tease.

I think they just have our 28, I didn't see any 29 footage used. (That's another thing I wanted to point out, that looked like they used Koki's fail from 28 in the intro)

Slightly off-topic, but in response to Yam, Shingo and Eiko married on July 29th, 2000. That was Shingo's 26th birthday. They probably married on his birthday so that he'll never forget their anniversary, LOL. Anyway, Shingo mentioned on his Facebook last summer that he was celebrating his birthday (39th) and anniversary (13th) on July 29th.

Ah that's cool so it was more than 10 years ago I knew it was a long time ago. I've been married as long as Sasuke has been on air (17 years this year) and I knew Shingo got married soon after it started (3 years in). That's totally cool considering that in that time period one of the All-stars married twice.

I wish I had Asa's awesome teleportation abilities... or maybe they're Time Lord abilities. Not sure, but it would be awesome to watch myself from the stands.

Yes they did expect people to watch ANW5 actually, They did detailed descriptions of each obstacle being faced every episode during ANW5. The Unstable Bridge second board does tilt, it's just the fact USA vs Japan doesn't do it justice since everyone attempting it is well experienced on the obstacle. And I'd rather have the 24-27 Balance Tank with the short track than it having the long a** track from ANW4 BTW yeah I felt the moving island was weird, in ANW4 they had things set up right with the stationary one and the retracting one you walk to the DSL with but in ANW5 they changed it (Time Limit was 2:05 btw, they gave a super high time limit and ended up setting a record clear time but still FF'd it...)
