As most of you already know, I was one of the tester's for Baltimore's regional course. And as you also might know, my PC has been broke so I haven't been able to share the footage even after Baltimore's airing, luckily though I found a cydia tweak for safari so I can upload from my ipod, where I luckily had copies of the footage, so now I can share it, I'm going to do this obstacle by obstacle (even if that is unfortunate for me lol) and also giving some comments along the way
Quintuple Steps:
What can I say... I derped... I let them get to my head and rushed in without sizing them up... I thought the technique I had for the Quad Steps would translate well but I worried at the end and tried to stop on the last step, never got a grip and slipped off... not one of my prouder moments...
Downhill Jump:
This is another obstacle I went in with the wrong mindset... the steps fail was fresh in my mind and I put too much pressure on myself forcing myself to beat it rather than going in focused, I tried to push off instead of dropping in and I felt myself slipping, luckily I saw the rope, reached out for it and once I grabbed it my confidence was restored for the rest of the day
Prism Tilt:
Heres that beast mode I've worked 6 years for starting to come out, I became the only American to clear the Prism Tilt without using my hands
Swing Jump:
While in competition this attempt was shown up, I actually did best of the testers by getting it in just 3 swings (felt like I had it at 2 but wanted to be safe, didn't want to make another stupid mistake)
Circle Cross (then "Ring Chain"):
This was a true shining moment considering I got through it better than all the competitors, it was a simple technique I figured out as soon as I saw it, so many others didn't and I'm surprised so many failed here (honestly the ropes seem easier to hold onto imo than the tubed chains, the rubber felt nicer but the ropes were grippier)
Anyone who went in the water couldn't do the Warped Wall for safety reasons, I failed the steps so no WW for me...
Salmon Ladder + Rumbling Dice:
The Salmon Ladder I aced despite it being my first time on one (don't tell the staff, to get on I had to say I had done one before, done something close but not a real SL lol ). The Rumbling Dice however... Well my plan going in was using the inwards grip cycling Shiratori Bumpei used in Sasuke 12, little did I know it was 60lbs (which I didn't know specs until broadcast, they keep us from knowing specs so they get accurate data like competitors would do) so that didn't work... out of desperation I tried putting both hands up top and trying to do it like a reverse salmon ladder (A technique later used more successfully by Mike Bernardo and this guy Seth who got FF'd) but that also failed... so I tried the familiar technique with a swing, it wasn't working at first but then... IT DID! I hate to say this but TBH I was shocked it rolled, so I kept this up for about a minute but those failed techniques burned energy and I was paying the price for it... I tried to go for an early jump but I made a mistake of putting my front hand forwards too soon, so when my back hand accidentally hit the rear bar I was left in a bad spot and didn't recover... I'm not mad though since 1: for competition they put the platform out to where I fell so I sorta cleared (making this a kinda bittersweet obstacle) 2: it served a valuable lesson to work on hanging endurance some more.
So yeah, that's the footage I have, and all I have to show really, because the next time you'll see me at ANW I'll be standing on top of thing, on top of the Warped Wall, on top of the Spider Climb (or whatever city finals last obstacle is) and then on top of the Final Stage at Midoriyama getting a good view of vegas while being a half million richer
BTW big thanks to Dragonbkm/Brad Martin and Thomas Tapp for recording this footage
