That's disappointing to hear. I tend to start rooting for contestants with heartbreaking time-outs, like Shane Daniels and Dorian Cedars, so it was a bummer not to see him make it to Vegas.

Good to know that Brent made it to Midoriyama as a wildcard or whatever

Important info but does contain spoilers for the next few weeks already known, proceed with caution you do realize #16-#18 placed (after city finals obviously) competitors got to go due to lack of 15+ clears everywhere right?

Spoiler He shoulda declined and earned his way to Vegas next year. Lost some respect for him. If you were in his position, would you really turn it down? No. According to ANW he has the best shot at being the next ANW. So of course a shot at $500,000 I'd go for it. But you should earn the title not have it handed to you.

So then you're being a hypocrite?

So then you're being a hypocrite? Yes and no. It's like a team suspends a player and he has an incentive in his contract that can make him a lot of money if he reaches a goal. But he can't reach the goal unless they let him play. The team takes down the suspension to give him a chance. Fact is though when you're a suspended athlete, you lose some respect.

I dunno, when you see it up close and a couple days later see the huge plume of smoke it gives off it doesn't feel weird lol Also, knew that happened to Brent but seeing that was total WTF! But amusing thought process of mine: Upon seeing Brent's fail: NOOO WTF!? What happened!? That's one of his best obstacles A few minutes later: Hey! I beat a pro at one of his best obstacles on my first try! (referencing testing in Baltimore so same SL) I was shocked he went down but a lot of Veterans went down this year. My question is the course harder then years past ? I was amazed at how few completed all 10 obstacles compare to years past. Makes it more interesting I guess when even heavy favorites go out.

Be amazed that I didn't know that EVEN though I was at the Vegas finals this year! P.S. Most of the time in Sasuke, it's over 100 competing, so under 100 is also okay. In Sasuke 23, it was kinda like 106, so 85 now makes sense!

Exactly 85. 18 from each region and 13 wildcards. So why did they make it seem on tv that only top 15 made it?

Oh snap I didn't realize that, did I say too much?? Well they did say that they were taking the top 15 (or more if more than 15 completed the city finals) from each city as guaranteed to advance to Vegas. The rest of the spots would be up to producers' discretion.

Personally, if I made it by completing I'm of course fine with it. If I made it by a technicality, I'm ok with, but at least I know that I'm getting a second chance to prove myself. To be chosen as a wild card, I'd have some mixed feelings since I wouldn't feel as worthy for getting the spot, but would definitely use that opportunity as a second chance big time.
In fact, look at a few wild cards that made it to the Vegas finals, despite their performance not being up to par, or just missing out by "that much", they surprisingly gave some good attempts/performance on the main course, sometimes doing just as good as the vets. Overall, to have the wild card opportunity, that's basically a golden ticket that shows that in some form, someone saw one's potential and wants to give them a second chance that couldn't be shown during the trials. Is it perfect since a lot of the vets get snubbed from this wild card opportunity, NOPE! But in all honesty, it is at least an eye-opener to show that there's recognition in one's efforts.
