Please keep ALL discussion for these episodes in their respective threads. Monday, July 29, 2013 - NBC Network8:00 PM - S05, E10 - Venice Beach Finals - Part 2 Description: Thirty contestants compete in the Venice Finals. The course features obstacles such as the Salmon Ladder, the Rope Maze, the Cliffhanger and the Spider Climb. This is 1 hour show. Going to be using TV Guide and winging it to get the correct dates (especially after the debacle with the zap it website).. This is semifinals from Venice Beach on NBC. Please keep this specific episode on this thread only. Don't bring up other regionals into discussion here. Keep that on those threads. REMINDER: There are people who did not read the respective spoiler threads from when the competition was taped.. please do not include information from that thread here. Stick to the episode shown. Last reminders of course that all of this thread is a spoiler thread for what is shown on G4's broadcast.

They are going to have one final spread over two nights? Well, if that's the case, they have very few excuses if they do a lot of fast forwarding, considering how many fewer people will be running.

Bear in mind that these are going to be LONG runs... from what I was hearing, the fastest city finals clear in one city was upwards of 4 minutes.

It's true about long runs, I can confirm (at least for the week after this) that running the top 30 takes almost as long to run around 70-90ish of the field

When they were saying the obstacles I heard Jenn Brown call the Spider Climb a chimney.

I dunno, when you see it up close and a couple days later see the huge plume of smoke it gives off it doesn't feel weird lol
Also, knew that happened to Brent but seeing that was total WTF! But amusing thought process of mine: Upon seeing Brent's fail: NOOO WTF!? What happened!? That's one of his best obstacles
A few minutes later: Hey! I beat a pro at one of his best obstacles on my first try! (referencing testing in Baltimore so same SL)

At least we don't have to see/hear that famous opening phrase of his "I may or may not have. . ." for a year.

I wonder how many more people would have cleared if they had made it the "flying trapeze" in qualifying instead of just finals.

I also have to wonder why G4 stole an obstacle from Viking.

Since no one else has, I thought I'd post the top 15, for those not in the know. Spoilered due to length. Also, did not see the Brent Steffensen fail coming. Top 15 1. James McGrath (who the hell is he?): Finished, 3:14.4 2. Dustin Rocho: Finished, 3:48.5 3. JB Douglas: Finished, 3:52.1 4. David Campbell: Finished, 4:25.17 5. James Eggiman: Failed Spider Climb, 2:40.05 6. James Sclar: Failed Spider Climb, 2:50.00 7. Jesse La Flair: Failed Cliffhanger, 2:32.73 8. Dan Mast: Failed Cliffhanger, 2:44.77 9. Brian Kretsch: Failed Cliffhanger, 2:49.07 10. Luke Carson: Failed Cliffhanger, 2:50.14 11. Lance Pekus: Failed Cliffhanger, 2:51.23 12. Justin Walcker: Failed Cliffhanger, 3:46.06 13. What happened to Shane Daniels?
I swear that either a G4 commercial or that Evan Dollard G4 segment showed Shane Daniels attempting the Cliffhanger, but he wasn't in the final 15, while guys who failed the Rope Maze were in the final 15.

If I remember correctly he got DQ'd on domino hill because he fell and touched it with his hands.
