Please keep ALL discussion for these episodes in their respective threads. Sunday, July 28, 2013 - G4 Network9:00 PM - S05, E09 - Venice Beach Finals Part 1Description: Part 1 of 2. Thirty contestants compete in the Venice Finals. The course features obstacles such as the Salmon Ladder, the Rope Maze, the Cliffhanger and the Spider Climb. Continuing to use TV Guide listings and winging it. If anyone sees discrepancies please bring it to my attention and I'll edit it. The whole point is to make sure that we get proper discussion threads for each of the televised shows to help those who didn't want to get spoiled avoid an incident. This is "Semi's" from the city of Venice Beach, California on G4. Please keep this specific episode on this thread only. Don't bring up other regionals into discussion here. Keep that on those threads. REMINDER: There are people who did not read the respective spoiler threads from when the competition was taped.. please do not include information from that thread here. Stick to the episode shown. Last reminders of course that all of this thread is a spoiler thread for what is shown on G4's broadcast.

That Spider Climb hole is ignorantly large considering the competitors don't have any way to climb up except kicking off the walls themselves.
AAAAAND G4 JUST SPOILS Jesse La Flair's semis run on the "Well-Trained Warrior" segment on the commercial break before his run. I know the promo material shows where he gets, but really guys? Anyone with sight can note that.

Half of me gets the impression that the main reason they showed Daniel Dick was because of his name.

i wonder if he is related to Andy Dick. It could be because Andy is 47 and Daniel is 40.

They covered the first fifteen, but only showed maybe half of those fifteen.

This is a segment I like to call Really?! with Buster1920 Really,G4 you spoil Jesse La Flair's run right before you show it. Sure, some of us can remember it from the promos, but you show a "Well-Trained Warrior" cliffhanger segment which shows Jesse La Flair failing RIGHT BEFORE they show his run. Was this a mistake or do you guys no longer care because the networks gonna be over in 2 months anyway. Also what is with the warrior wipeout being a guy fall from the cliffhanger and spin, really?! Sometimes I've fallen out of the bed in the middle of the night and it was more of wipeout than that.
This has been Really?! with Buster1920

LOL Buster I was thinking the same thing for both the WTW segment and the WW but could not have put it nearly as eloquently as you did.... quality reference to SNL and WU too!

Spoilering Jesse's run was a mistake, and so was deciding to revert back to the "only the top 15 will make it to the finals" rather than "if you complete the course, you're in the finals no matter what". Granted, with how tough the semi-finals are, that likely won't matter, but still.

The clear = advance rule was still in city finals, top 15 was in the event there wasn't 15 clears, which there weren't

So I finally saw my run on the G4 episode and I have a gripe to pick with Akbar! The reason I failed the salmon ladder was because the trampoline was wet from the previous runner falling and caused my left foot to slip out, which meant I was only able to get a bounce off my right foot which wasn't enough to get me to the bar. During the after-run interview I mentioned this to Jenn, and after my run they even took a break to wipe down the trampoline and spent about 15 minutes reworking the trampoline, and thereafter were on top of wiping the trampoline after every run (which by the way definitely rubbed salt in the wound ). But during the airing Akbar comments that I failed because I didn't commit? Say whaaaaa??? I'm gonna tackle that bastard next year! EDIT: It was Akbar not Matt, damn you Akbar

A) Regardless of what happened, that was still a great run, and you have nothing to feel bad about, and B) now I know why they didn't show your interview .

Don'cha know, I'm Noah Kaufman!! Nah I was the asian guy in the black wifebeater (read my username backwards) EDIT: I understand why they wouldn't want to state the real reason, they want to make their course look flawless and would hate to admit that wet obstacles were a problem. But still, stings a bit saying I didn't commit, there isn't a ninja out there that doesn't give it 110%. EDIT2: Thanks bob

You're totally right, I'm not even that peeved about it anymore, it just surprised me enough to elicit a reaction. I'm still completely stoked that I got to run, and that it was aired
