Got a very short email today to a couple specific questions. One of them was whether or not they are going to scrap Sasuke Trials for this year. This was their answer:
"The 22nd SASUKE trial will be held on 8th this month."
Hmm.. I emailed them back if it's in Mount Midoriyama like last time or if they are going to do it in Muscle Park. I'll post back here if they do write back. Ube have you heard anything from the Park Stars?

I wonder what it'll air on, if anything. Other than SASUKE22, of course.

My only guess is a blurb on Navi. To my knowledge.. it was only shown on Sasuke Maniac before and before that.. I don't know if it was ever shown. Ube might be able to shed light on that since my knowledge of Sasuke Trials only goes back to last year and specifically for Sasuke 21 trials. They did show footage of the previous ones.. especially when noting the Sasuke Park guys.

G4 showed alot of clips from the trials of 17 in competitor profiles. So that might be a clue.

I think I remember seeing a couple years at least.. around the time Viking was around. Back then there were a LOT of Monster 9 shows like Viking (both regular and celebrity), Junior Sasuke, Sasuke, Kunoichi and a couple other things iirc. But before that like Sasuke 1-10 there was practically nothing. We of course came in after 19 so it seems as if the things we are used to have been there forever when in reality they are quite "new".
P.S. Remember Sasuke Maniac only ran for 2 years and Sasuke is entering it's 11th year.

But wasn't there also some kind of general Monster9 show like Sasuke Maniac though? called ZONE or something?

Dunno. I only knew of Sasuke Maniac and after the fact at that.

I believe part of the earlier trials were shown on the Kinniku Banzuke family of shows.
ZONE was a sports documentary show that would occasionally fill in the gaps for SASUKE and Sportsman No. 1. The weekly show focused on individual athletes. BODY was the direct precursor to SASUKE Maniac.
Prior to the actual Trials, they used to have people with similar backgrounds or themes face off against each other in a contest like Quick Muscle with the winner making it to the big show. So Mr. Thong Takahashi actually had another male ballet dancer to compete with when he first appeared on the scene.

Wow so there was some "version" of trials that early on? Cool!
P.S. Any word as to where the trials are this year? I only got the date but no word as to where it will be. My guess is Muscle Park but I don't see any notices for it. Obviously a closed course thing for sure. Anyone of the park stars going that you can tell?

The earliest SASUKE Trial was held between 12 and 13 back in 2003-2004. The top 30 (pass or not) got automatic slots for 13. These are the top ten: www.tbs.co.jp/g-muscle/corner/sasuke/index_003.htmClick on 11位~の全ランキングはこちら! at the bottom for the rest. Note that Shingo DID NOT actually qualify via the Trial. Katsumi Yamada, despite not competing in 13, did qualify. Some names kicking around in the DNQ list: Tomoyuki, Washimi Yuuji, Urushihara Yuuji.

I haven't looked at the final competitor list for 13 so I don't know how close they stuck to the whole "Top 30" thing.
I'm pretty sure they had other qualifying events between 13 and 17 but they're not mentioned in the Japanese wiki or anywhere on the net, at least not as SASUKE Trial anyway.
I haven't seen anything from any of the Sasuke Park All-Stars or Unlimited Cliffers about the Trials for 22. Maybe in the next few days after they actually happen.

Yeah sounds good. I'll yell if I hear anything. Most likely after the fact they will say something and "watch on the 30th" nonsense like they usually do Please let us know if you hear anything on your end.

A few interesting names and faces there. Including a few Sasuke Park All-Stars and that Ulticliffer guy (who failed the Balance Bridge). Even Pants guy from 19 was there and failed the Jump Hang.

LOL...Harashima, fifth from last... I take it the times for the failed people are either: how much time they had when the fell into the water, or how much time they had left to spare when they got to the last obstacle they challenged. I'm a bit confused, because the Japanese text just says "time remaining".

I want to say it's their split times, since that would make sense, but I have no idea.
