I totally understand what he's talking about when he discusses his students' reaction to Sasuke. I feel the same way and get the same honest scrutiny from my elementary school students for my athletic exploits. I respect him that much more now because of this. Yeah.. kids aren't born with "filters" I'm happy though he is pursuing what he wanted to do.

"...aim to survive the 1st Stage." "I hope they all fail today. If they go to the 3rd Stage right out of the gate, they'll get over-confident."
Hear that, students? Mr. Sasuke will be unhappy unless you fail the 2nd Stage.

Oh jeez..they couldn't put these into one video? Yamada talks about the 1st Stage
Watch Yamada teach his students how to "succeed":
More importantly, Yamada doing a practice run on the 3rd Stage:

I'm not going to say Yamada is 100% stupid for saying that, as you have to fall and learn how to stand back up.
But taking SASUKE this seriously...

It's not about taking Sasuke seriously.. it's about him being in the spotlight that has issues with. He's always had issues with this.. TBS however just looks for television material and always found it in him. He's.. special. If he only knew how much they make fun of him behind his back.. but maybe he does so long as he gets to camera w hore longer.

"I want to see them fail today." "I hope they all fail today. If they go to the 3rd Stage right out of the gate, they'll get over-confident." He's not entirely wrong in that statement. Then again, I'm convinced he's doing this as a sort of self-parody, at least for the cameras. Trying to see how long people can keep up with the whole "He's an a**, but he's our a**." shtick. I think the Rising interviews after his run and in the suit were all genuine and that he was only mentioning "comeback" just because he could in the 29 video. At the same time, I also feel he believes he can train a team to do well, yet can't do it unless he's a hardass. Sounding a bit like an apologist, but meh. Who knows, maybe he IS a delusional old bat...but he's our delusional old bat.

Just watched recent clips of Yamada's and his 3rd Stage demonstration. TBS sure like to promote Yamada a lot, despite not competing. His advice of clearing obstacle was very.... interesting. I was bit surprised with result of his 3rd Stage demonstration. I thought he was going to fail Iron Paddler, since he looked really F'd when he attempted. But despite his age he cleared and fell at Crazy Cliffhanger (which is no surprise). For a guy in near 50's, he did pretty well. It was nice to see him challenge on 3rd Stage, even as demonstration. Hopefully, we get to see more veterans do the demonstration like this in future (I want to see Shiratori do it).

Yeah that's not a clear.. he touched the frame AND used it to assist himself out of. Something Yuuji wanted to do with all of his might but didn't I'm "meh" about allowing old competitors try stage 3 as demonstration. As Inui is joking on twitter.. he won't ever get there anyway and half the RT's are referring to the fact he hasn't been there in years and will never get there so why not.. LOL But for others.. I want them to get there on their own way back. He's 7 years older than Okuyama.. he's not that old.

Plus he got on and off the obstacle. Something tells me that would have been a disqualification on the real thing. But I have to say, he's in amazing shape for his age. I may be criticizing him now but he still has a lot of my respect for the things he can do at 47.
Edit: Rewatched the run, he disqualified himself after grabbing the support beam. Didn't notice that the first time.

I like how in the first video talking about stage 1, the interviewer is acting like he found a rare species in the wild. I imagine he wanted to observe Yamada in his natural habitat. Also, why would anyone want Yamada as a mentor? He hasn't been to stage two since Sasuke 12. That said, it was cool to see stage three in action during the daytime.

Good to know TBS has a "VS" graphic ready if they so choose thanks to Yamada: Shin Sedai [Yuuji Urushihara, Hitoshi Kanno, Ryo Matachi, Kazuma Asa] vs. Black Tigers [Koshige Yamamoto, Yousuke Watanabe, Satoma Okada, Keishi Mizukawa] vs. All-Stars [Makoto Nagano, Toshihiro Takeda, Shingo Yamamoto] Nevermind the All-Star name is retired. Time to shoehorn fake drama! It is the ASEAN Cup Qualifier after all.
