Inui Masato has confirmed a rumor that SASUKE will air on June 27.
Ube, can we get a better translation on this? When I add in Urushihara's response (he seems to think this to be fact as well), it gives "yes" or "okay" for Inui's response.
EDIT: Thanks Philip for confirming the emphatic "yes" as Masato's response. (Also, that his name is Masato.)

Well, guess I need to get as much sleep as I can that week, because none of it will be had that entire day.

Have they even taped the event yet? Does that message say anything about 29 specifically? Maybe it's a trials special or rerun of a past event. Could be a number of things so try not to jump to conclusions over a google disaster translation until someone can give a better translation or supporting information.

It being related to 29 is probably our safest bet. There hasn't been a true standalone trials special in years and only once has there ever been a re-run of a tournament (Sasuke 24) and that in itself was a slightly shortened re-run. If anything, it could even be the 29 taping date as opposed to air date.

23 had a mangled rerun too, but reruns are very uncommon in japan. That being a tapiing date feels possible, if it's airdate, inui would be pulling a tournament out of his a**, things would need to start being set up now and recorded within the first week of the month and fully edited... I find it unbelievable that that's the airdate.

My point was that jumping to the conclusion that it's the main broadcast based on a google disaster, without a confirmed translation or supporting material, is a bit much at this point. Don't get me wrong I want is as bad as the rest of you, but I feel it is all speculation until we get more info. Maybe someone can give a better translation or find this tv listing that is mentioned. My personal opinion is that it could possibly be a trials special. With this whole thing being tied to the ASEAN Cup it would make sense to me. Especially since, according to shuhuqua who participated, they filmed the trials and did reaction interviews with the participants after their runs.

Read what I posted in the "Sasuke 29 Officially Announced" thread. Shingo posted on his Facebook this morning saying that Sasuke 29 will take place in a week. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what he was saying. The translation was a little hard to understand, but everyone was wishing him good luck, so I think it's a pretty safe assumption that he was talking about Sasuke 29.

Maybe they'll go back to the old format where they'll air tournaments just about a week or two after being recorded instead of like 3 months for SASUKE 27.

I think they're definitely airing June 27th from Inui's tweet and Shingo's facebook thing. Also, with the ASEAN cup coming up soon, they don't have the luxury of waiting 3 months to air.
Any idea if Li En Zhi is allowed to compete in 29 due to the foreigner lock out? I tried messaging him on facebook but like every Sasuke person, he seems to only respond to comments and wallposts(but you can't write on his wall directly), so no reply. If he posts a picture or status update that's at least marginally related to exercise or Sasuke I'll try asking in the comments section of that.

I clearly think Li's NOT gonna be in Sasuke 29 because first of all, he's from Taiwan like you said. Second of all, he had TWO bad tournaments in a row. I think Inui's starting to think he's getting older and weaker and looking to be replaced by young and inexperienced competitors. (I think there would have DEFINITELY been a higher chance if he didn't do so poorly in Sasuke 27 or Rising)

Li En Zhi put up a picture of himself doing a crazy stretch, so I took the chance to comment on it and ask about his attendance for 29 again. I wrote (in Chinese) "Wow, I don't think I can ever do that! Are you coming to Japan for Sasuke 29 this week?" and believe it or not... my comment was removed! No idea what to read into that. It could either mean that he's already under contract not to talk about the Sasuke until everything is done (that means for sure it's happening this week), he's not invited and embarrassed to have that officially everywhere, or he's a douche despite his friendly appearance. Either way I'm quite shocked by this.
edit: I don't think it's option number 1 because Shingo is proudly announcing his entry... makes this an even bigger shock because I don't think there was anything offensive about the question. Also sorry if this is slightly off topic from the subject, but I don't think this warrants its own separate thread.
