Here I was hoping this was a schedule thread and the eps were known.
TBH all I know about airing is: 1: Season starts July 1st 2: Producer said Baltimore airs July 8th

So far, thefutoncritic has their schedule up as this: thefutoncritic.com/showatch/american-ninja-warrior/listings/It looks like 10 weeks for ANW5 on NBC, starting on July 1 and ending on Labor day, September 2, with repeats on Saturdays. I don't know how it's going to work. ANW4 was 9 weeks on NBC, 6 weeks of preliminaries and 3 weeks of Vegas. Maybe the first day of Vegas taping will be celebrities or something else to throw into the TV mix, because 4 weeks of preliminaries and 6 weeks of Vegas with serious competitors sounds like overkill. I've always been bored with preliminaries and boot camp, but a month and a half of watching serious competitors in Vegas would get boring and repetitive also.

Thank you d6j49kg Maybe NBC will be listening and put more runs than fluff pieces so they extended the shows to reflect that? One could hope?

Are there gonna be any new episodes on the Esquire channel?

There would have to be a launch date for the Esquire Channel to answer that. Esquire still doesn't have a schedule listing on their site yet.

My understanding is that G4 will air this with an official Esquire launch moved to September? I think I remember reading that somewhere if someone can verify that.

So this season is premiering the episodes just on NBC? Or are we not seeing qualifying until september?

ANW is pretty much a Summer series now, so if G4 is airing this, then it'll probably be like last season where the opening rounds were on G4, and the region finals were on NBC the next night. But if that is the plan, and one of the regions don't get expanded airtime, then regionals is over by July 22nd like d6j believes as well. And no one wants Vegas to happen over SIX weeks, four is overkill enough if they keep making it the ANW Competitor Profile Happy Hour Featuring Some Silly Obstacle Course.

I can't take any more dead parent stories. Don't forget the dead girlfriend stories. For me, i like the bios on sasuke, but on anw with a hour show is too much.

You guys are all very rude. Motivation is a big part of competition. Get over it.

Personally, I'm fine with the competitor profiles, but you can't say G4/NBC have done a good job with them. If twenty people are doing the course in memory of a loved one, pacing wise, it's not reasonable to show fifteen of them. Again, just my opinion, but it's not the content (I agree in that it's rude to say "Oh I'm tired of seeing someone say they're running for a dead person") that I'm against, it's the sheer number. I get why it's done -- to make the competitors relatable, but if the video package lasts longer than the run*, it's a poor strategy.
*Obviously most will, I mean airing a package that can last over a minute, and the run is over by obstacle two or three.

100% of people die, and that is unfortunate. However I would like to watch an obstacle course game show and see some actual obstacles and not be constantly reminded of my own mortality. Sorry if its rude to not want to be bummed out the whole time I am watching a show where all the contestants pretend they are ninjas. I like to keep it light, I really don't get reality TV I guess.

So you'd rather watch one more run of a person failing the steps in the time they take to fit the fluff piece than get to know the person running the course? What's the point of rooting for somebody you can't identify with.

I'm curious if they are going to take the suggestion of doing one episode "navi" style? Meaning one "set up" episode where you can meet people and possibly even talk about the set up of each of the cities and whatnot? Wasn't it that they had more episodes this year? Just a thought. I know pacing was a HUGE issue that not just SMF'ers had a problem. The NW FB was a firestorm last year.

I too am for more runs and if the Navi thing works I'd be for it. But I'd like to know who I'm rooting for. Not John Smith from Circle, Montana with a time of 1:34:21 and that's all I know about him.

Sorry if I came off as harsh, I guess I'm just saying what everyone else is saying - I'd like better balance, just tilted more towards runs and less negative storylines.
