Keep ALL discussion in each city's thread. May 19 & 20 – Denver Matt Iseman TweetNow that it's upon us I decided to put threads for these. For those who remember from last year, these are the threads that include discussion on obstacles, competitors as we find them and any results. Please keep all discussion of each city in these threads ONLY and not spread out over the ANW5 board. That includes "David Campbell's run", etc. Remember that not everyone likes spoilers so keep that in mind that many will wait until the official NBC/Esquire airings later in the summer.

Can't wait! I know when I was younger my parents took me on a trip to Colorado and I ran down the hotel hallway and could hardly breathe afterwards. With their high elevation, I hope my body is able to adapt quickly or else im in trouble.

Having it in Denver at altitude will be a major challenge for a lot of competitors. Significant homecourt advantage for the APEX crowd, not that they needed it! Don't be surprised if the top 10 performers are all native Colorado folks.

Yeah, a coworker told me I should arrive a couple of days early to acclimate a bit. I was planning on it, anyway, since I'd love to take my kids to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. I'm sure my oldest will love it. The toddler twins... eh, it'll give them something different to look at, so at least one of them might enjoy it. The other just won't care, I'm sure. (So funny how completely different their personalities are.)

If you can spare the time, I'd DEFINITELY recommend arriving a few days early to acclimate. Could make a huge difference.
Ironic...I lived at altitude for ten years (higher than Denver), and would have been psyched to compete at altitude! But a year ago I moved to sea level, and was pretty nervous when I saw that I'd have to compete in the thin Denver air. But I'm trying to get accepted to Baltimore now for other reasons (family schedule). Still, I think the altitude thing is going to be big. Definitely get their a few days early to acclimate.

If form holds true, they won't call Denver until they are done with Miami.

I'm expecting Denver to have the easiest course. This is where UFC fighter John Dodson is set to compete, as I'm sure most of the Olympic athletes they touted will be as well.

Are we talking qualifiers only or both rounds? TBH I felt Baltimore's Qualifier was really simple but it had a bunch of techniques people weren't figuring out it seems

If I get accepted... it's going to feel weird competing against olympians and professional athletes.

If I get accepted... it's going to feel weird competing against olympians and professional athletes. Even they want a shot in being called the first ANW. It'll make everyone work harder knowing they're competing...or psych everyone out.

The way I see it, Olympians and pro athletes are at a disadvantage in ANW because those people have to train hard every day for their sports, which means they have to be careful with any ANW-specific efforts because that may cut into their other, real training. We (non-Olympians/non-pros) don't have this issue.

If I get accepted... it's going to feel weird competing against olympians and professional athletes. You could also go for the tester thing and get to try out more obstacles
