Inui did a post and TBS has their page up Inui Twitter postSasuke 29 announcement on TBS pageBtw confirming a few things (and if you are bored you can read it on twitter between Inui and me posting back and forth). - The tournament name IS Sasuke 29. They are not using Sasuke Rising for this (I know this will make people lose a few bets but at least I got confirmation on it to settle the disputes.. LOL)
- Tournament is slated for "Summer" with details to come later.
- Invites for this tourney will be different than last time. Details to come later.
- Sasuke 29 will be the Japanese Qualifier for the ASEAN Cup in November in Malaysia (that's actually friggin' exciting news).

Shingo, Nagano, and Takeda have all stated on their personal Facebook pages that they want to compete in Sasuke 29. Shingo has even said that he is training for the next Sasuke. He sounds pretty certain that he'll be allowed to compete.

WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. You mean to tell me that SASUKE is no longer the biggest SASUKE? So like, SASUKE has been reduced to a qualifier? I don't know how to feel about this, unless we get a SASUKE World Championships. Which by the way... means no Americans in SASUKE 29

乾 雅人 @inuimasato
@alexcun That the future is undecided. SASUKE summer selection committee is representative of Japan by the Japanese.

Call me stupid, but I thought that the All-Stars weren't allowed to compete anymore. But I'll be more than happy to be wrong about this!

They are not using SASUKE RISING but just SASUKE. The SASUKE RISING page says that SASUKE2013夏 (summer) (with the tentative kanji after it) is now open. So they are ditching the RISING name and going back to the usual style and naming procedure.

Which by the way... means no Americans in SASUKE 29 I think SASUKE is still the big SASUKE, but it's also doubling as a qualifier so they don't have to set up another trials course for the ASEAN cup. Like it will double as a trial but won't be the primary focus. This isn't the best analogy but think of it like how Will Dodd and the Lobeck brothers got spots at SASUKE Rising through ANW4

Unless 29 is in dead of August, probably means no ANW guys (at least not the ones TBS promotes during Sasuke). But connecting it to the ASEAN cup is interesting.

So they are ditching the RISING name and going back to the usual style and naming procedure. Probly cuz Rising totally failed with the travesty of the All Stars and the third lowest rating. Ironic that they wanted to wash out the "bad taste" of M9 and give the show a new name, now it seems they want the bad taste of Rising out. (You just can't beat the original)

Well it's no longer "Rising" since it's already risen Either way it's not like unofficially it wasn't Sasuke 28.. just that TBS didn't put that anywhere even though Inui said it was 28. Now we have no question about it. As for those asking about the All-stars I did a long post about it and explaining why they can/should return and their feelings on it (and open campaign to return). I did a post on the Sasuke ASEAN Open Cup in November and am excited that Japan not only is participating but doing a qualifying event for it as well using Sasuke 29's results for the Japanese competitors. Reminded that "Open" means that so anyone can enter if they want so I'm curious how the ones that haven't mentioned anything (like USA and Europe) plan on handling this if they have any interest. It's a huge event held in a stadium over multiple days so I'm super stoked. Anyway, as I mentioned in that long blog post I want my favorites back and quite frankly if you were a finalist you better damn be invited..

I think it is going to be very interesting how they run this Sasuke. Will they use the dinner party set up again? Will the All-Stars return? Will the course get more absurdly difficult or will they tone down the difficulty and give more people a shot? They've got a lot of options and I hope they really put the effort in and make it great.
