This is what irks me. Features like a "like" button are fine (read: pointless), but useful features like "spell check" and "preview post" were removed with no reason. The Proboards people literally had to go out of the way to remove these features rather than just leave them in.
Plus, I'll just flat out say it: I absolutely hate the squashed layout. Why the hell is everything mashed into less than half the size of my monitor?
This "upgrade" has actually reduced the functionality of Proboards, not enhanced it. I'd even call it a downgrade from the previous version.
I've vented enough...

My biggest concern is that I've been on both sides of the problem with updating boards. I've been mod on literally the biggest boards (active members in the 2-5k range with lurkers well into the 20k's) having to handle a lot of load and a lot of moving, deleting, archiving, etc. to the point of it being a job for about 4 years. We ended up putting the site through a big change because the infrastructure was getting hard to handle and the mods were bitching about not having a one click system, the pages look ugly, you can't archive anymore, all kinds of stuff that frankly the community never saw but admins dealt with daily. What resulted was a "seamless move" that required people to verify their passwords and all of our posts would be fine. What resulted was losing half our boards history, posts counts were lost forever, email bugs where people weren't getting notification and a loss of more than 1/3 of our active community and more than 1/2 of our lurkers. It took years to get "some" back and even so people complained about how the boards functioned.
Change is inevitable when using a free postboard. Hell we've seen a few changes already with some hating the look and others liking the look. We can never please anyone. I'm just more concerned with doing major changes just because 2-3 mods don't like it when the community itself doesn't have to deal with the internal machinations. While it may become cumbersome and I'm not going to deny that (I've been on the other end) the ultimate purpose of the boards still remains a place where people can log in and see current Sasuke news. What it looks like will change over time and proboards evolves. Lord knows every free board out there has their quirks and frustrations. It's outside of our control and it will always be that way. Just seeing the potential backlash of something that is not a job, very much a seasonal hobby - the negative impact on the community which is the core of SMF far outweighs what the mods have to deal with from time to time. I've seen boards come and go and only a select handful can boast our 5 year record. I don't want to change that because the boards look weird right now.

Uhhhm... bit of a problem... I dunno how you'd fix it though... the last post feature displays last posts made in the hidden forum... like plainly visible knowledge of it...

Also to add, if your cookies reset and you're required to enter the password again, you won't see posts from the hidden section until you enter the password again.
