Both would be really significant, but I went Takeda clearing Stage 3. Although it's been nearly a decade since Yamada last cleared Stage 1, at least he's done it multiple times. Takeda's been to Stage 3 in 13 of his 21 appearances so far, but has never been able to make it past that stage. In other words, Yamada has met that goal already, but Takeda has yet to meet his.

The fact that Takeda has never cleared stage 3 ever would make that have way more impact. Doing something for the first time is a lot bigger than breaking a losing streak.

As much as I'd love to see Yamada pass stage 1, I'd much rather see Takeda pass stage 3 if he could.

Takeda clearing stage 3 by a long shot, He's made it to stage 3 more than anyone but has never made the final... Yamada has made Stage 2 plenty of times... He just hasn't done it since 12... it'd still be notable, but not as important as Takeda finally breaking through to the final stage

I would sooner see Yamada clear stage one. He's dedicated his life to Sasuke, but hasn't cleared the first stage since Sasuke 12. How happy would he be if he could clear stage one just one last time?

Takeda one is never gonna happen 24 confirmed this to me so Yamada is more likely so that.

Takeda one is never gonna happen 24 confirmed this to me so Yamada is more likely so that. Have you seen the new Stage 3? I haven't. It's possible that the obstacles will play more towards Takeda's strengths. Plus, using your logic, I could point to 25 and 26 as proof that Yuuji Urushihara's victory was a fluke, and that he'd never make the final stage again. You can't use one tournament as proof of anything.

I think he means that Takeda is a choker, and if he couldn't beat it when he had everything possible going for him, he definitely won't do it under MORE pressure. I actually happen to agree, sadly. Yamada clearing stage one is much more realistic, although I'd like to see BOTH happen. I just find Takeda's 24 run to be so strange. He destroyed Stage 3 until the Spider Flip and out of nowhere he lost the ability to do anything.

Agreed, even more so considering he failed at a point he managed to get past in 23, which had the Kudari Ranpu Grasper instead of the arguably easier Rope Junction

I think some you guys are missing the point that this question is trying to ask though---we're talking about which one would create a bigger impact, not necessarily which one is more likely to happen.
Honestly, since we don't know too much about Stage 3 yet, I personally think both are just as likely to occur, no matter how slim the odds are on each. Nevertheless, Takeda finally clearing Stage 3 would IMO be so much more awesome to see. Don't get me wrong---while I'd love to see Yamada finally break his Stage 1 losing streak after 9 years of failing there, Takeda's Stage 3 clear would mean so much more since he's never done so. The guy who has been to Stage 3 more than anyone else, yet has never cleared it, deserves a shot at the Final at least once. I don't mean to sound biased when I say this (Takeda is my second-favorite competitor), but if Takeda finally breaking through doesn't bring out more emotions in a Sasuke fan than Yamada's clearing Stage 1 again at last, then I'd be shocked.
In either case, both are probably going to be very emotional (and possibly even tear-shedding) final runs by these 2 All-Stars in particular. While I'm very excited to see them go, at the same time I'm worried as to how they both turned out. Although I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much for either of them, I'm hoping for the best for both Takeda and Yamada (as well as the other 3 All-Stars competing, and all others who competed in 28 in general).

I don't know, in my opinion Yamada's run is about a lot more than just breaking a losing streak. It's about bookending a chapter in his life, which, according to him, has room ONLY for Sasuke. He is clearly cursed, haunted by personal failures that clearly go beyond this TV show. His life is in a funk he may never get out of unless he is able to finally clear the first stage. He has to prove to himself that he has the heart, the will, and the belief in himself that he can be successful. If he ends here with a fail, he is almost surely doomed to a personal acceptance that he was never 'good enough' to be something 'great'. Although, the fact that he has never given up certainly shows a lot.

Takeda is 0- 13 to Stage 3 he is in its pocket and will choke there again its a mental thing nothing to do with flukes or anything Yuuji had been to the final twice before 25 and 26 he hasn't failed the same stage 13 times in a row so no mental scarring there.
In 23 he really should have got to the gliding ring and in 24 with the momentum going and the 5 clears before him it really was now or never to me if he didn't finish it that night he never would and alas he folded to a combination of pressure mental scarring of the stage and seemingly running out of steam for no apparent reason since he had passed the part he failed here in 23.
Hence I say he is in the STAGE 3 POCKET and he will sadly never get out let alone this time on his final chance.
Yamada is in the 1st stage pocket but I think if he passes the SK or both of them now then he can still finish the stage. Takeda in this stage 3 I think will fall on the body prop if he gets there... the fear of the stage is always in him now.

I remember one tournament fairly early in his stage 1 failure streak where he timed out on the Warped Wall. After the buzzer/gun went off, he ran up the wall, got over it, then finished the Tarzan Rope. He has the ability to do it, but he has a mental block to get over.

Honestly I think the new course layout is going to help him overcome the mental block... I think he's likely to get up the first wall on the first try, even though it's shorter, he would still have managed to get over one of the Soritatsu Kabe in one try, giving him the mental boost to get over the full sized second one..

He used to get really upset, but now, you can see in his face he almost expects to fail nowadays.

And that expecting to fail reaction is whats no good and will ultimatly lead to his demise again you have to approach it with some swagger this time.

Don't get me wrong. I think this being Yamada's last tournament for sure will give him a bit more motivation to do it. But it might also stress him out more, and we've all seen that him being stressed is not good for his run. Same could be said for Takeda, though. We'll have to see what happens. My whole point was that it was a bit presumptuous to say for sure that Takeda cannot possible pass the third stage.
