As has been discussed in the speculations thread I wanted to house pics and whatnot that has been found on this subject specifically. For those who don't remember the Sasuke Rising (or Sasuke 28 as we know it) auditions/trials began today in Osaka, Japan and tomorrow change venues to Tokyo, Japan. From there the competitors will be chosen for a whole new look at the lineup for Sasuke 28. Early pics are kinda scarce but hoping we see more by tomorrow. Seems the requirements for passing early stages were outlined in a document they gave everyone: /photo/1Hoping to get a translation soon but I "think" one of them is 100 pushups? As Ube mentioned previously, Katsumi Yamada went to cheer on the hopefuls in the Osaka event today. /photo/1

They had to do a 30 second appeal and a hundred push ups. The push up part is a little confusing. The appeal is straightforward: Bending a frying pan and whatnot.
Note: This is only the first part of the auditions. There will be a second part held next month.

Some shows had tapings a week after trials/auditions so they may be keeping that kind of time schedule.

Here is something from someone who did not make it through. ameblo.jp/kitokito-sasuke/entry-11384307945.html* They say there were a hundred people there. * They were broken up into groups of 25. * It seems like they did the push ups to the beat of a drum. * Only two people out of their group of 25 could do the hundred so they are through to the next stage. I think that it is pretty clear that this audition (plus one) is not going to be where the majority of competitors are going to be coming from. Plus, I have not heard of any major competitor sightings outside of Yamada. That might not be true of Tokyo though. Some possibilities I can see is that 1) a whole bunch of people got automatically pushed through to either the next stage audition (or whatever it is) or directly to the show. 2) the next stage audition will be packed with former STQers and competitors going up against a select number of new guys. 3) the producers are playing coy with the public as to who is going to be on but the show will really be the usuals plus some new people. For those who say that Inui said that everyone will have to re-audition to be on the show, he never said they had to be at THIS audition.

Thanks Ube for the synopsis!
I'm now hopeful about Sasuke 28 than I was before given the information. I was terrified it was going to be a trials centric type show. I really don't mind a Sasuke 25 auditions version. And Inui did say this show but it seems they have a loophole to get who they want into the show which is really I was hoping for. Yuuji has to report tomorrow it seems which is different than the All-stars so in essence Inui's Google translation was still correct. It's the severity of the trials that is not in place yet. Maybe they got pushback from the community and they changed their mind? We'll see.

I hope they show the trials like with 21 and 22. Fully I meam, since this one is much more important.

They showed 22 as well, but we don't have Sasuke Mania anymore, that show was the reason we got to see trials... but it was a low rated show that aired at midnight and only aired in one region, and tied to a low rated show that only happens a few times a year tops, I can see why they didn't want to continue it... We'll probably get a spotlight in the Navi like we've had... I expect the 28 Navi to be just like the 25 Navi really, this is the most similar tournament we've had in a while (well... since 25 ) in terms of setup...

I hope we get to see at least a little bit regarding trials this time around, unlike 27. IIRC, the only things even shown for 27's trials were a few clips during Asa and Ryo's parts in the Navi and the actual broadcast. P.S. - 1800th non-spam post.

Considering this is the first tournament since a kanzenseiha, I'm sure they will.

Well considering Navi STILL only airs in the Kanto region I don't expect much change to the line up. That's why I was curious if they were going to have an All-star special or an extended Navi with the auditions. Given that there was no actual format like Sasuke 21's trials (full course and you went from stage 1 to stage 2) and a lot of this will be subjective.. there's really not much they can show for longer than what was shown in Sasuke 25's trials. Who knows. Depending on how complicated the 2nd part of the auditions is going to be it could be worth doing more. Just going by TBS' history though I'm not expecting much. If anything, the only play they will do is for the All-stars since this is the last of the milking they can do on that subject. Edit: Found some pics and didn't feel like starting a new post Stupid cloudfront doesn't like hot-linking pics so here's the link to the posts. twitpic.com/b5v2tz (Competitor with topless Yamada) twitpic.com/b5v6aw Yamada and.. oh.. I can't describe how awkward this picture is.. anyone know wtf that other guy is holding? I hope it's not a probe... pics.lockerz.com/s/254776216 Inui posted what the Tokyo lobby looks like this morning (signs only not people) (still looking and if I find more I'll post here unless there's a response)

OK, this opens things up a bit. If I am looking at this correctly, you did not have to do the whole 100 push ups if they decided to bring you in based only on the 30 second appeal. ameblo.jp/merukiotto/entry-11384844085.htmlThis person mentions a group of 30 - at this point the only thing for sure is that there were at least a hundred people there. And only one could do the 100 push ups. Added with the previous post, that is three out of around fifty.

Nice pics, Elsie. Thanks! Btw, I think that's a cell phone the guy was holding. It looks kind of like the one Shingo had before he got his smartphone, except that Shingo's was black.

Google is not at all good with that kind of stuff) I'm curious about how many over 100 because the guy that posted the 2 Yamada pics was @172 twitpic.com/b5vsntBtw it seems that they won't find out if they made it past to the 2nd round until November 10 (if I read that correctly). LOL thanks Tiger! NOW I see the cellphone.. Thanks.. it looked obscene from that angle..

Ayako Miyake and PADMA were at Tokyo tryout. It is not clear if all of them tried out or not and no mention on if anyone made it to the next stage. PADMA is Tomoyuki and some other people who broke off from the Nakamura group which broke off from the Musical Musical. ameblo.jp/ayakomiyake/entry-11385559256.htmlTomoyuki's blog post here: ameblo.jp/padma12/entry-11385264856.htmlHe says that in order to find out if he made it, watch the show.

Wow thanks for the information Now with M9 out of the picture it makes sense they'd come back. Will be interesting if they make the cut. From what we know.. November 10 they start to name who's on the final 100.

I saw two people wearing PADMA shirts at the Tokyo tryout, and one of them was definitely Ayako Miyake. Those pictures look like they were taken in the designated "changing room." I didn't see them in the waiting room before I was escorted out right before the second audition, so there's a good chance they were not selected.
The producers told us after the 100 pushups thing that they did the pushups out of nostalgia for the Kiniku Bansuke days and mentioned that's where Yamada and Akiyama got their first tickets to try out Sasuke. Apparently Yamada tapped out at FOUR HUNDRED at the Osaka tryouts which was probably rubbing salt in everyone's wounds if only one person made it to 100.

Just a note: Daisuke Morikami is a part of PADMA.
Also, Tomoyuki has a photo of Hirokazu Oyama (the Monster Box champion). And Yosuke Kaneko, who passed the 1st Stage in 27, did DEKITA so I think Inui et al are familiar with the MM folks.
