I still have 3 months to think about it. Might take a break after 28 (which honestly I usually do due to exhaustion LOL) before I make a final decision. Btw. I got an answer from Inui as to the status of the 6 All-stars competing. They are [ performance ] under negotiation in order to make all stars contest all the members If I interpret the Google disaster he wrote back correctly. Seems they are negotiating to get all 6 to compete again for Sasuke 28 one last time. They are not confirmed to be competing atm but it's their intent to let them compete one last time. That google disaster can also be interpreted as they can compete if they earn a spot like everyone else possibly |

Anything prior to 28 = the SASUKE@of Ushio Higuchi (regardless of who was the director or producer of any given show).
To rebuild, anything to do with Higuchi must go or be altered. All-Stars. New stars. Obstacles. I will not be surprised if the graphics and music are different.
Sports teams go through this constantly. The old gives way to the new. This is like a general manager who is not afraid to purge his roster of as many old veterans as possible regardless of past performance. Peyton Manning gives way to Andrew Luck.
Those who follow J-pop are probably familiar with the idea of "graduating,"@which is where a member of the group leaves to go on to other things. Not necessarily bigger in some cases. Either they or their management felt it was time to go. Same idea.
It was going to happen eventually.

Whatever with the others but Nagano is the greatest competitor ever and should always be welcome.

I just want to point out to everyone saying that Sasuke=Nagano, I can see where you are coming from, but Out of the 6 All-Stars, Nagano is the second newest, judging by first tournament. Here's the first tournament for each All-Star.
Shingo Yamamato: Sasuke 1
Katsumi Yamada: Sasuke 1
Kazuhiko Akiyama: Sasuke 2
Toshihiro Takeda: Sasuke 5
Makoto Nagano: Sasuke 7
Bunpei Shiratori: Sasuke 9
I was worried about the All-Stars leaving at first too, but with some time to think about it, it's not all that different from Kane Kosugi leaving. He and Yamada were the face of Ninja Warrior back then, but he left, and Sasuke went on, and he got a lot less ceremony leaving than the All-Stars are receiving. This is going to start a whole new Sasuke, most likely.

IMO, this description almost makes it seem like Sasuke 28 is going to be a misnomer of Sasuke. In other words, Sasuke Rising pretty much looks like it's going to be a direct/domestic spin-off of Sasuke, and probably won't even seem true to Sasuke 1-27 in nature. |

There's no chance Yamada could get through qualifiers.
That leaves Nagano and Shingo who really at this point seem to go to Sasuke mostly out of habbit than anything else. I think they understand better than anyone else that it might be time to let go.
It's sad yes, no one is saying otherwise, but it had to happen eventually. Their time has passed.

Nagano's plapce should stay he is SASUKE god in my eyes none of the new stars have a connection with the fans as the all stars did and Nagano lets not forget almost WON a second time not so long back he could easily requalify.

The All-Stars are the face of Sasuke and have been for a long time. Sasuke was about regular guys doing cool things. The All-Stars are not celebrities; they're regular guys. That's why the fans love them. That's why many of the fans watch Sasuke--to see the All-Stars compete. Without the All-Stars, Sasuke will not last long, I don't think. Many fans will just stop watching. If there's a backlash, maybe Inui will realize what a stupid idea it is to get rid of the guys who have done so much for Sasuke. To a large extent, the All-Stars have kept Sasuke alive all this time. To me, getting rid of them seems rather ungrateful for all they've done. It's like saying "Well, you've kept Sasuke around all this time, you've done your part, but we want newer, younger people now, so we're not going to allow you to compete anymore. Bye."

Yeah, offing the All-Stars is bad for the sport. I understand that Sasuke is trying to move on, but if it wasn't for Nagano and the All-Stars, Sasuke would probably have been cancelled after maybe...Sasuke 14? Maybe 15? Nagano's, Takeda's, Bunpei's, and Shingo's heroics in the post-Kane era saved the show of Sasuke, and it's pretty bad of TBS to just say "well, it's time to move on guys, so we'll throw you a party and then there's the door." It's considerate that TBS is going to give the All-Stars a proper sending-off instead of sweeping them under the rug. However, it makes little sense that TBS wants to alienate itself from the All-Stars the second SASUKE 28 ends. Even if they're making everyone re-qualify for the show, they should give any All-Star who wants to stay in the chance to qualify. I'm fine with no more automatic berths for the All-Stars, but banning them from the sport that they saved and re-popularized? Especially when some of them are still relevant competitors? Nagano's coming off of two Stage 3 appearances in five tournaments. Shingo's been to every tournament and still has the skills to continue at a moderately high level. Yamada, well, I understand if they don't want him anymore. He hasn't been relevant in about a decade, but he still means a lot to the sport itself. If Nagano and Shingo attempted to re-qualify, they would make it. They're plenty good enough, at least Nagano DEFINITELY is, to be in the top 100 people. To not even give them a shot weakens Japan's overall talent pool and removes the most iconic figure in Sasuke from the game. I can understand if they want to officially retire the All-Stars, but why not just retire the title and allow the two remaining (former?) All-Stars to continue playing the game that they made profitable. They should just let Nagano and Shingo compete as "regular guys". Nagano and Shingo probably don't have much time left, anyway. Nagano's 40, and I doubt he'd continue past 41 or 42, and Shingo's only a couple years younger than Nagano. I doubt either of them would compete later than SASUKE 30-31, so why not let them finish their careers on their own terms? They only take up two roster spots out of 100, and they draw more viewers than just about anyone on the show. Not allowing Nagano past SASUKE 28 seems like a ratings annihilator. or just put in a Jumping Spider and Balance Tank in the qualifiers so they don't make it anyway  jk jk |

I know it sucks to see the All-Stars go, but it has to end at some point down the road. To make way for new people, and new talent. Just give it a few tournaments and soon you'll see a few guys that rise to the top just like the All-Stars.
Sure, it sounds kinda harsh if you make it sound like TBS is just throwing them out on the curb after a farewell party, but I don't see it like that all. The All-Stars are retiring, they graduated. And now to respect them and to show how much they appreciate everything they did for Sasuke. They are giving them a farewell party, A graduation party, etc.
Like Arsennette said, I'm sure Nagano is going to be relieved. Most of the All-Stars are not going to have that pressure on them that they NEED to show up.
I don't see this as a downside at all. I'm going to miss the All-Stars just as much as everybody else. I mean, I'm still teary-eyed everytime I don't see Takeda competing. But this is going to open up more possibilities for Sasuke in the future. It's time to see what else it can come up with, what new stars it can give birth to in this show we all know and love.

Think about it from their perspective. Arsennette said it right when she said Nagano would probably be relieved. Nagano has a growing family, is advancing in his professional life with the recent acquisition of a new boat, and IMO did not look to be in a very happy place during all of Sasuke 27 (maybe this was due to his dad passing or how it was like 4am, but seriously during Stage 3 he did not look like he wanted to be there at all). I can sort of see Yamada getting a sour taste in his mouth, but I think all 5 others would be honored and relieved to be given one last hurrah and call it quits.

As much as I want the all stars to continue competing, they've had their time. They probably wouldn't "look right" in this new era anyway. Maybe they just want to retire them now before they really start doing poorly. Maybe for the new era none of the obstacles will be passable without replicas. And half the all stars just wing the course every tournament without specific obstacle training.

Well the story with Stage 3 was he knew he couldn't do it, when he saw that David couldn't pass the UCH, Nagano knew he had no chance :/ |
