Okay.. strange news today. I had to check the date of the story to make sure it wasn't a joke but doesn't seem like it. Finding information is pretty difficult atm. entertainment.xin.msn.com/en/tv/channel-5/programmes/sasuke_singapore.aspx?cp-documentid=%206022221Sasuke Singapore puts contestants through a series of tough physical challenges to test their strength and determination. Adapted from the successful Japanese series of the same name, contestants have to maneuver around a difficult obstacle course where they'll have to show agility, grit and might to get through to the finish. The winner of Sasuke Singapore will get to go to Japan to compete for ultimate victory on the Japanese course.
Premieres right after the National Day Parade 2012, on Channel 5! Note the bold... Now do you know why I hope this is true? I also did the wiki for the date of National day. According to Wiki it's August. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day_Parade

This is (potentially) excellent news! If this really does go through then at the very least we see SASUKE's popularity expanding, and at the most, SASUKE 28 taping sometime this summer. I have a good friend in Singapore so maybe I will hear more specifics when the taping is and what it's like.
We have to wonder though, will TBS be sending invitations to American competitors if they are competing on TBS's set in Vegas so soon beforehand?

I sent a tweet to the station to see if they can elaborate. Otherwise I can't find jack about it. As for the other, I don't see why not as the taping for finals is in April. Hell.. they did Sasuke 3 months apart before LOL

Very interesting news, maybe that means there's still a glimmer of hope for Sasuke.

This is weird and interesting. Only thing bug me is that whether or not if it's true that winner get to go to Japan and compete in SASUKE (28). Since this is recent stuff, it's not 100% clear, what the format is going to be like. Is it going to be like SASUKE Malaysia (likely idea), or is it going to be whole new format? Also how many people are going to Japan? It states winner implying that they will send one (like Malaysia where they send Cat). There are so many questions. Also, WHEN THE HECK THE WHOLE COMPETITION WILL AIR ON TV (Trial + SASUKE run)!! Is it going to be a year after it taped? I'm looking at you Malaysia. (They haven't even broadcast "season 1" which was taped year ago!)

(They haven't even broadcast "season 1" which was taped year ago!) Taking the article at face value they do mention when they are going to air it (at least a first part if it is a multipart): Premieres right after the National Day Parade 2012, on Channel 5! That's in August (9th I believe - I put a link to wiki in the first post so people can verify that) of this year. So far preliminary digging has only rumor so again.. take it as a grain of salt. So far the only thing I'm hearing is that the announcement should not have been made prematurely.. which is already pointing it to the positive.. Outside of that it's more supposition but the fact that it was not immediately struck down was .. interesting. Going with the initial rumor I was told way back in what.. November? Was that the reforming company was going to take a while to get 28 up and running... this would fit in that timeline. Given also Sasuke's propensity for using the Olympics as a trampoline into the new season.. that would put it around September if they are going in that direction. Also given that the airing (and not the taping.. I have no dates for taping) is slated for August that still fits. SM2 tapes in May. ANW4 tapes in April (in a couple of weeks) so it's reasonable given that timeline taht the winner(s) will be set for any Sasuke still within this calendar year. If things are delayed with 28 (provided the initial rumor is true that it's happening still) that will change the lineup.. especially if it goes to 2013. I would expect ANW5 to fill that lineup while SM might be forced to use the 2012 one to fill that spot as they seem to be stuck with that May timeline for taping.

This states that THERE WILL BE SASUKE 28 sometime in Middle/Late May to July (like SASUKE 27, where it was taped July). I wonder if Japanese competitors will get notified by around the time of Maguro festival? What I like about this article is that it stated when the show is going to air and on what channel. (Thank God!) Unlike SASUKE Malaysia (which they have yet to air "season 1"..... which was taped last May), SASUKE Singapore sure know how to organize very well. This is going to be interesting.

No the dates in question are for SS not 28. At least that's my take on it. It's too fast as no one in Japan has heard anything. I would suspect August/September as it has been the past couple of years. Very much agreed things are being done differently for SS than SM. One thing of note is that WHO is doing it is making a difference. SS is being run by a TV Station.. that alone changes everything. They have their own distribution already set. SM didn't have that set and even at taping they didn't have a TV station ready just a camera crew with the raw footage. Agreed though that this is going to be interesting. If I get to find out anything I'll post. Same for you guys if you find anything else please post here. Looking at the form, it seems like the course won't be like Sasuke Malaysia. Seems they are doing it like ANW then?

Looking at the form, it seems like the course won't be like Sasuke Malaysia. They better not be ANW format (1-3). Because Sasuke Singapore has a lot of potential for this. For the Final, I think that's going to be obstacle course where fastest one get's to be winner.

ANW has been fine aside from the obstacles and the final (ANW1's irrelevant s*** and after that Boot Camp), aside from that the system has been fine for trials (We can't fault their time trial thing, TBS did the same thing)

Also crew never clean and set up obstacle properly after previous run (wet steps, infamous "F-Bridge", etc.) I doubt there will be Boot Camp though. No one liked it.

SM1 was scheduled to be a 2 day event as it was though. (This year is the same btw) Also, for some reason SM is sponsoring SS this year. Maybe because they are in the region? Dunno, SM doesn't talk to anyone outside their little circle. LOL MediaCorp so far have been nice sending me emails. No details yet on format. I'm trying to find that out. Dunno if they add more to what's already in the application. Have you read that thing? it's like 20 pages long.. LOL And they have already printed in the application that fastest in 2nd round is the winner.
P.S. Just checked SM's FB and they say SS will take place sometime in June.

Elsie, should I tell Shingo about this? He hasn't posted anything on Facebook about it, so I doubt he's heard about this. As far as I know, he still thinks Sasuke is over. Since Sasuke 28 will probably be sometime this summer, he'll probably want to start training for it. When he thought Sasuke had ended, he stopped training for it and started focusing on golf.
