Thanks Sheep that was getting out of hand, and thanks Brian for actually bringing sense to this forum.
I enjoyed seeing the course kick some butt for once, but it was unfortunate to see a lot of guys (especially Chris W., James, Travis and Drew) take really nasty spills, perhaps where it could have been avoided. I can't remember exactly, but it seems to me like they digested 6 out of 24? That's really not too shabby compared to the First Stage digests from the last two weeks. In fact, seeing so many runs on the same first few obstacles over and over again actually made me realize why we need digests... they cut to the chase! In Sasuke 27 they fast forwarded what, 5 DSL fails, a Slider Drop fail, 4 Metal Spin fails and 2 American clears? That's a lot when you think about it!
Also, it seemed to me that the Third Stage had some interesting changes to it... Roulette Cylinder seemed wider in diameter... Doorknobs didn't seem to turn too much, UCH ledges were oh so slightly thicker? I love the obstacle line up though, it's brutal (if they could fix the knobs to turn and fix the UCH of course)!!
Also, nobody has mentioned this yet, but did the Unstable Bridge boards seem a little thicker, in height? I would think this would make it harder to hold on, it's a bit harder to wrap your hands around, no?

The doorknobs sounded like they turned, I heard the same noise I did in 25 and 26, I think we can't just assume they don't move just by looks, we thought that about 25 and they were confirmed to turn (Source: Brian Orosco)
I'm not really sure about the thickness of the UCH ledges, they looked the same based on pics comparing them... There's no denying the Roulette Cylinder was huge.
Also I'm glad we got to see the Sending Climber (19-20) in action finally, we've only seen the Hang Climbing from 21-24.

It was an overall good season. I am just curious how ANW5 will be.

I don't approve of this. I can understand if it was getting out of hand but to entirely remove the thread is pretty much silencing everyone's thoughts and opinions. I don't support any form of censorship. Regardless of the stance a person made. It would have been better to lock the thread.

I don't blame the admins and mods for doing what they did...

It's not the opinions on rather not Brent's run was rigged or not, it was the fact that certain people in the thread resorted to insulting to the point swearing was involved and that was when I stopped paying attention to it. I can see the thread going away just based off that alone. Hate speech (whether racist, or simply throwing bombarding insults like c*nt, etc.) doesn't deserve to be protected IMO. I just wish the course was designed a little better. Hopefully they learn for ANW5 if Vegas returns.

I requested a part of it be edited because one of the competitors actually outed themselves to try to save me and I didn't want that person being banned by NBC for breaking NDA. The thread is hidden but not deleted so I'll ask the same mod to start moving some of the conversation (like the pics, etc. and the discussion of the event itself) and just take out the discussion not pertaining to the controversy back in. There was a bit of it still in there. Ultimately it did quiet things down so hopefully a civil discussion could come out of this thread.

Hmm, yeah.. I just finished watching the finals. And I kept myself from reading the conversation until I see it. Now that apparently you guys closed the original thread, I feel like I missed a lot of what happened in other peoples thoughts or opinions. Though if people were being extremely rude and causing trouble. Couldn't you have warned those people and deleted there post? Or like what Ryoga said, just close the thread.
But ANYWAY, The course was extremely tough this year. And I liked how they seemed to pick the most difficult 3rd stage version in the newer era, (Sasuke 25 with Hang climb and Spider Flip) and I was shocked that Brent was able to clear the Ultimate Cliffhanger, I was 99% certain he was going to fail there, but he shocked me. Though I was confused why he just dropped at the end of the Hang Climb there. I mean, I know he probably knew that he didn't have any grip left, but I would have at least attempted to reach for the next part.

This is a bit unrelated but did anyone else notice Brent didn't use any chalk on the UCH? I didn't see him put on any sticky spray either, but he very well might have. Does anyone know the deal with this?

I didn't see any chalk or spray offered on the starting platform, although it's possible he may have been given some in the 2 minute rest but knowing G4 I really doubt they had any...

Overall I liked it. Granted I skipped through every competitor profile and it made the show seem twice as good as normal.
Without trying to cause another argument, in regards to stage 2. Nobody, not even people who were there and watched it, will know exactly what happened. That said, watching Brent's run, he completes the obstacles better than the other competitors do, and based on the fact some were faulty, whether it was legit or not, I'm gonna go ahead and say he deserved to go through either way. Shame others didn't but a lot didn't use the right techniques on the unstable bridge or the balance tank so I'm not going to complain that it was the course's fault.
Stage 3 was awesome though I wish they hadn't used that version of the Hang Climb. There's just not enough to grip onto when upside down. But Roulette Cylinder, Doorknob Grasper, Floating Board and Flying Bar at the end = a pretty good stage 3. Hopefully they keep that for next year.
I just hope they fix the editing for next year and trim the competitor profiles. Especially in the preliminaries when it should be more fun.

I think the ledges might have been slightly bigger, but not by much. It just appears bigger because in Las Vegas the ledges are all red and in Japan they are red in the front and black at the top.
And I kinda wish that the 1st stage was mostly during the daytime. Just doesn't feel like Sasuke without at least a couple daytime runs.

I still think it should have been done over one day.

I still think it should have been done over one day. They very well could have... have stage 1 in the day, rest at night... done deal... I guess they wanted to show off their lighting and the vegas lighting...

That and the weather during the daytimes of the 21st and 22nd were a few degrees shy of 100, hotter than Sasuke 15.

From a design perspective, I wasn't happy with the Balance Tank. In Japan, the stopper at the top of the track lowers when a competitor gets on the log. In ANW, the stopper was stationary, forcing competitors to push the log over a bump. This increased the odds of the competitor slipping backwards. Add that to the fact this log rolls faster, and you have an obstacle that (I'm guessing) was unintentionally increased in difficulty.

It's been awhile now, but I'd say that overall, I enjoyed what they did with the course. Was it perfect, no, but they actually got pretty close to it, so definitely got to give them credit where credit's due.
Overall, with the presentation of having to do some of the Fast Forwards for some of the runs, it was definitely understandable. To see so many K.O'S from the Jumping Spider and Half Pipe Attack was truly intriguing for actually keeping the competitors on their toes. But....with even more good amounts of K.O's from the Spinning Bridge (I still think of it as Cannon Ball Run thanks to Viking X3 ), that surprised me even more. To a certain extent, the people that failed on those obstacles shows that this was what they were hoping to see happen more often in the original Sasuke broadcast, but we REALLY got it here.
2nd Stage felt on par for me, where with most of the K.O's being from the Balance Tank, definitely made sense since (I need to double check the original Sasuke broadcasts) as 2D2Will said, they must've inadvertently did more harm with the bump stopper in the beginning of the obstacle instead of the end.
3rd stage felt about right in difficulty (...not gonna be happy to do all of that if I ever make it >_< ), with the return of the Floating Boards and even the Hang Climb, that's keeping a lot of people on their toes now.
So, all in all, for their first attempt, it's to me a B+, gotta work out a few more kinks and pay even closer attention to the designs here and there and they've got it.
