I really hope you were trying to type "Maruta."

The best obstacle was the Rolling Maritarri. I miss this from Sasuke, and I tihnk they should adopt the ANW version. 'Maruta', although 'Maritarri' is fun to say. And the ANW version makes it broken. There's only one rail to hold onto. That makes it unfair for short people/most women because they can't wrap their arms around just the one rail. That's why both rails were there in the original and the "Sandan" version (the one with the drops).

I always thought the Sandan variation was a bit "easier." The shocks might have been something but those slowed it down somewhat. On the other hand, with the single-track, people either flew right off or in some cases slid down the track through momentum alone and then fell off somehow.
That padding goes way far out. That extra padding that juts out five feet before the curve in the track shouldn't be there...
[spoilers]Great job for spoiling David Campbell failing the Giant Swing, NBC.

I think the added risk of the log falling off with the drops and I think the log stopped moving much more often with the Sandan version. Either way, I feel the ANW version was flawed from conception. As for your spoiler tag: I thought the rumor was he failed the Spinning Bridge, did he really fail the Giant Swing?

Could have been Tom Hutchman you saw, he was in David's region and fell on the giant swing. Can't say I haven't mistaken Tom Hutchman for David Campbell, lol.

Not to mention it just seems highly unlikely. I know anything can happen, and NBC loves spoiling ANW results in their previews but that seems like mistaken identity.

And didn't someone else point out they had a clip of David on the JS, it's probably a clip of Tom you saw EDIT:

[spoilers]That was a preview for next Sunday's episode. I know I saw Tom's run already, and who else from the last 12 to go has a shaved head and is from the NW region?
EDIT:
[spoilers]NBC really did a poor job of showing that preview, then.
Tom was shown since they were talkig about all those who alrwady failed, to build hype about if the top 12 can do it, nothing wrong with that

Regarding the episode on the 16th (mods, please move if/when necessary): Considering they actually show the final 12 to take on Stage 1 in order from slowest to fastest in regional finals (and excluding Travis Furlanic), the order should be as follows:
#89 Andrew Karsen #90 Jesse La Flair #91 Evan Dollard #92 Luis Moco #93 David Campbell #94 Tim Shieff #95 Brandon Douglass #96 Matthew Derouen #97 Paul Kasemir #98 James McGrath #99 Drew Drechsel #100 David "Flip" Rodriguez
18 have cleared so far, and IIRC it's been said that 24 cleared Stage 1; therefore, half of these guys ended up failing it. As to exactly who cleared and who failed...well, that'll have to wait until Monday.

I think you mean #12 to #1, Despite competitors being seen with correct Sasuke style numbers, Numbering is in reverse order
And I can confirm 2 of the fails and can kinda confirm 2 of the clears if you want me to...

I'll have a preliminary results list after the last run. I did miss #75 because the digest was too short for me to cast the name and one obstacle because my streaming app lagged. And I have it: 69) Kevin Klein - Jumping Spider 70) Steven Volcko - Jumping Spider 71) Michael Eckert - Jumping Spider (Digest) 72) Arthur Skhov - Jumping Spider (Digest) 73) Selena Laniel - Jumping Spider 74) Remy Bakkar – Clear 19.02 seconds 75) (Digest) 76) Jared Sale – Warped Wall? (Digest) 77) Justin Sweeney Spin Bridge (Digest) 78) JJ Woods – Half-Pipe Attack (Disqualified – skimmed water) 79) Kelvin Antoine – Giant Swing (Course out - Cleared the jump but fell off the path after landing) 80) Elet Hall - Clear (24 seconds) 81) Chris Wilczewski - Clear (2:01.26 seconds) 82) Brent Steffensen – Clear (29.00 seconds) 83) Jack Morgan (Giant Swing) 84) Sean Noble - Clear (1:53.2) 85) Kyle Cochran – Spin Bridge 86) Travis Rosen – Clear 87) Brian Arnold – Clear 88) Cole Stevens – Clear (27.47 seconds)
I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but that's not entirely correct. I just rechecked the results, which are posted below: BTW, when I rechecked, Dan Galiczynski wasn't recognized by name during his digest, so while I'm almost positive that was him, I'm not 100% sure about it. That was me (Dan Galiczynski)

On another topic... Did anyone notice how Iseman said that only 1 female has ever passed the Jumping Spider? Haven't there been 2? Rie Komiya in Sasuke 23 and that one woman in the pink shirt (sorry, don't know her name or what Sasuke it was).

I think he was talking about out of the Americans as I think he was referencing Luci Romberg. But out of all women there have 5 Rie Komiya, Luci Romberg, Hiroyo Shimada, Tomomi Arimatsu, and Satomi Kadoi

Actually, three women have passed the first stage jumping spider in Sasuke: American Luci Romberg in NW21, Rie Komiya, as already noted, and Satomi Kadoi, the Chinese gymnast who along with Komiya were grand champions in Kunoichi 8-Kadoi passed the jumping spider in NW27. Of course, the commentary in ANW5 has not been fully accurate in other things, as we all know and have highlighted here before.

Hiroyo Shimada and Tomomi Arimatsu have also cleared the Jumping Spider as BLM had said. Shimada was the 2nd ever woman to clear it (only woman to clear it in 22), and Arimatsu cleared it along with Rie the very next tournament. Also, another slight correction, this is the 4th ANW. ANW5 has been confirmed as a casting call was advertised during Monday's broadcast though.
