Guys, why should one non-winning result ruin an entire tournament of fun runs to watch and competitors to root for (other than the fact we know they will not win). Sure, what NBC supposedly did was lame, but a) you all know you're going to end up watching it anyway, you're kidding yourself if you think you'll be able to resist the urge to watch and b) it'll still be exciting to see who gets to the end, and I'm sure there will be a load of zesty wipeouts!

I think considering we were given false hope by NBC/G4 themselves about getting some form of collaboration with TBS (turning out to just be they sent over specs which they still messed up because of a clueless 3rd party), incompetent testers (sans the competitors who didn't receive wildcards) and then this on top of it, I can see why someone doesn't think G4/NBC deserves their rating number.

I'm watching because I have a lot of close friends who made it. I'm not happy with you know what, though.

dont worry guys next year i will achieve total victory fair and square and we wont have any of this re-do bs. I think between my new and improved video tactics and my willingness to sell myself out to my midwestern heritage, this tourney is toast.
and I havent been to Mia pk in a while, but flip said this year was in the bag. wtf man.

dont worry guys next year i will achieve total victory fair and square and we wont have any of this re-do bs. That's actually not a crazy idea. Why don't us future competitors simply use this scenario as motivation, and prove to NBC/G4 that things are actually humanly possible and that some of us don't need their bull crap to achieve success.

its not schadenfreude towards the other competitors, i just like the idea that the course guys were so incompetent that they made a course impossible. That sounds more like a challenge fit for a ninja. ok now back to cliffhangaring around.

Because it's not as easy as you think? It was a faulty course... Hell... a 2 time stage 3 veteran with the sasuke record for fastest S1 clear of all time failed stage 1 in this ANW4 course.. don't be too confident...

You're acting like all the fails from skilled competitors were from technical issues. When that's the case, they get a retry. But they weren't.

You're acting like all the fails from skilled competitors were from technical issues. When that's the case, they get a retry. But they weren't. This is true since from what I'm hearing the entire course was screwed up. Stage 1 took out a lot because they had problems there too. That one clear when it wasn't pisses me off so badly. The scary part is that they kept zerging the course to hope MORE got through that way. That's disturbing. I'm frustrated because I was reaaaaally looking forward to this. Everything written made it look like a 100% legit course from TBS was crossing the Pacific. I was even hoping to go to LV to see it myself because TBS was "involved". Sending a piece of paper is not "involved". Hell, they did more for Malaysia than they did here.. I know TBS is in financial trouble so that might have a lot to do with it.. but it was still NBC who hired a clueless company to screw up their crowning moment. That said I doubt it will hurt the ratings simply because they will not show all the problems and reruns. The point of covering that up is to show "zomg how hard this course is". Only a small percentage of people who were there know the truth.. and with Sasuke 28 looming heavily in the horizon in conversation.. most won't care in the grand scheme of things. It only will serve as fuel for ANW5 which is assured. Just not sure how big it will be next year is Sasuke Japan is back and on what channel.

I didn't hear much about stage one. I heard stage two was pretty ugly, though.
I can't be the only person here thinking, "OMFG, I could build them a better course."

If you don't watch it you can't complain as efficiently as those who have watched it. At least we have sasuke 28.

I'm going to watch it. Like one person said, one BS run does not take out 99 legit ones. If it had been some random person making it to stage 3 illegitimately, that would be one thing. But it's Brent. He has the goods. If they had tried to spin it as having some random new guy coming up to smoke the "veterans", I would be a lot more uneasy about it.

This situation confuses me. Whenever someone accuses other shows on forums about rigging something it is brought up that there is a law against this passed in 1960. www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/509 and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiz_show_scandals Note that the law does say "intellectual," however, I have been told this applies to non "intellectual" things like survivor, amazing race, etc, so I am assuming it would apply to ANW as well. I guess since they didn't manipulate a win they might not be in violation, but I'm no lawyer.

I think the reason they're not in trouble is the nature of the rig, it wasn't rigged to set up one competitor, the gates and smoke are manually controlled, for the rest of the rumor I'll put it in spoiler tags Brent made it to the end of stage 2 and thought he cleared, in actuality he timed out but didn't even know, The G4 and NBC staff who was running the event triggered the gates and smoke anyways despite the fact he ran out of time and allowed him to advance, he did clear all the obstacles properly he just didn't do it fast enough, so it's technically not rigging in the sense that the laws are about... No one competitor was chosen and set up, it just happened to be the one who made it that far... The fact it happened to be Stage 3 and two time Stage 2 veteran Brent Steffensen was just a coincidence... it could have been done for anyone who made it there in that situation Still a BS incident...

Like I said, we don't even think he's aware of what happened, He legit thought he cleared... before they triggered the gates and smoke, which kinda confirmed that (even if he didn't know what they did).

I'll watch to support the competitors because it's not easy to get that far and they deserve an audience. What NBC did is sickening but that shouldn't erase the hard work the competitors put in.
