Yeah given also their history I can totally understand their trepidation. For ONCE I'm cautiously optimistic this is just ANW4 waiting for Sasuke 28 sometime later this year. Stranger things have happened.. so hopefully I'm being optimistic at the right time.. LOL
And what Rider said is the key point. Before the prize for ANW and even ANC was entry into the Japan course but this time it's not. The prize is entirely in the USA on an USA course built by TBS and comprised of 100 competitors picked within the USA. I also feel for those who aren't even old enough to enter thanks to the G4 rules they seem to be sticking by. If they have every intention to send the winners to Japan it would be a bit problematic if they have a "minor" in their squad. That's my thought though... still doesn't make it right considering that the Japan course age limit is "high school student".

Not even "High School Student" age on Sasuke, I mean we've had several 14 and 15 year olds, Honma Kouta was 13 in his first attempt, Also if I'm not mistaken, although it was Kunoichi I swear I remember a 9 or 10 year old competitor in Kunoichi 1 or 2...
If it's completely on US soil there shouldn't be legal gray areas... Hell I'm tempted to get a job so I can make sure I have money saved up and send in one of the best entry videos they can get and have it telling them to reconsider... That'd probably fail but something about this has me fired up... Maybe it's feeling this is the closest to a last chance with the M9 stuff but this somehow just added fuel to the fire burning in my heart for Sasuke.
It's pretty stupid 18 year olds can die for their country but they can't represent it on a TV show...

Btw.. High school is 10th grade to 12th and basic math is 15'ish (some can be younger in age but still in high school). As for other tourneys they have had junior versions and whoever won those got byes into other events like Kunoichi and Sasuke. That said.. this really belongs in another thread Sad to say so because it comes up every time G4 holds a competition. Sucks.. but it can dominate a thread. This one is going to be confusing enough with the regionals, etc. so please keep the age thing in another thread? I was also thinking.. I wonder if Sasuke 3rd stagers from the past get byes to finals?

I'm 15 for God's sake and I'm not whining about the age limit.
Also, if people are complaining about ANW/Sasuke getting "too popular", think of it this way. TBS in Japan is equal in popularity to NBC in the USA.
Also, I am so stoked about this year's ANW! I love the format! Hopefully I can watch one of the regionals or the real competition in person.

And my apologies for the age stuff in this topic, sorry.

No worries Rider it's a hot topic and I for one feel sorry for those who have to deal with it.
Going to work on blog now... especially since the application process is so damn short.. They might have put "is now" simply because they anticipate extending it? I mean seriously it's coming up friggin' fast.

Also, they said: "Your video may include music we provide, or use your own." "music we provide" is underlined, and when you click on it, it downloads a whole bunch of songs. I guess you could call it the Official ANW Soundtrack.

Considering David, Brett, Brian and Paul had to requalify I doubt it. Yeah.. James mentioned on twitter he's only guaranteed a spot in the prelims (as opposed to having to apply for it and hope to be picked) so they are staying consistent with past ANW's.

Yeah, it's typical G4 "We pull this out of our a**" thing, Like I said, I'm probably going to make a video just in hopes they consider it. I mean if they're that short on submissions there's a small glimmer of hope

Is this for real? Is G4 finally doing what I think they're doing? Rather than repeating same formula as ANW 2 and 3 (prelim, semi, and boot-camp that everyone hates), ANW 4 is going to be 100 people (finalists from different regions), competing in four stages obstacle course (granted TBS helps). Wow I must be dreaming. I think the world is coming to an end this year. Anyway this is going to be interesting. Edit: However, I wonder how many people are going to apply? Since it appears the event is not connected to SASUKE (meaning trip to Japan like previous ANW and ANC). In the past, most people competed ANW and ANC for mainly for free trip to Japan and compete in SASUKE. If there are no trip to Japan, I fear that some people might not want compete. This may be just me, but I doubt veterans competitors like David, Brian, Levi, Strat, wants to compete without trip to Japan. Also competitors like Trevor, Ruselis, Brett, might not compete either. Also people who's been training from ANC 1 (like Strat) might not want to participate, since there are no trip to Japan. But that another topic altogether.

Hmm, one trivial thing is kind of bothering me though...6 doesn't go into 100 evenly, so how do they balance out the prelim winners?

Probably the best 100 overall from all 6 prelims together. The 6 locations might just be to fix the travelling problem.

Hmm, one trivial thing is kind of bothering me though...6 doesn't go into 100 evenly, so how do they balance out the prelim winners? Was thinking about that as well.. even if they took 33 from each location.. that would be a problem.. or 16 (would add up to 96) or 17 (would add up to 102) it's still off. I sincerely hope it's not top 100 times overall as one region could be screwed over if they had generally slower times.. I originally thought they would seed people or give byes to finals to those like David C, etc. but both Strat and James (also stage 3 people) said they only have spots in prelims only and nothing else... so that theory is debunked.

6 qualifiers? What? I thought it was 6 regions but only 3 cities.

Yes, regions = qualifiers.
I would definitely assume that it is the top 100 times overall for all locations that get to go to Vegas. Easiest way to do it and fits the format of previous ANWs.
