I was quite shocked about Kongu's, Iketani's and Taijima's failures. I would have been shocked at Okuyama's if they didn't show it in the trailer.

You forgot Lee's fail For me, Lee En Zhi, Tajima, and Iketani. How did he even fail on the 3rd rung? He has done it before.

Lee's wasn't shocking to me. Don't get me wrong, I expected him to go far originally... but before he started running I just had a bad feeling like "oh, i'm not really sure about this".
Maybe I jinxed him. But when it happened I was just like "yeah...".
I don't know, most of them weren't that shocking to me. Everyone was failing exactly where I expected them to. Biggest surprise is I guess Travis Rosen and Furlanic going out back to back on the metal spin. That was deadlier than I thought this tournament.

I didn't feel that way about Lee specifically, but I always felt that there was a good chance of someone failing the way Lee did. While watching the Americans on G4, I was a little uneasy about how close some of them were getting to the water. So although I'm not surprised a fail like that occurred, I'm still shocked that Lee was the one to do it.

It's just he wasn't featured in the navi much, and i know people are going to tell me that doesn't matter *cough* everyone in the chat when I noticed it *cough. However, it did turn out to be true. I had a bad feeling before the broadcast even began.
I had assumed he was going to fail stage 1, though I didn't think the first obstacle. So I wasn't all that excited for his run, maybe that's why it didn't "surprise me". I was just like "huh...".

That and ANW3 showed us clearly that he did NOT have a seat in the 3rd Stage...

Honestly, I was kind of surprised at Shingo's fail. Not really surprised at how he failed, since he has failed spectacularly in the past, but where he failed. He got almost to the end of the Spinning Bridge, and then slipped and fell. I didn't expect him to fail there, since he cleared that obstacle in Viking. And Li's failure surprised me, too. We knew he wasn't in the third stage, but I thought he would get to the second stage. I figured he'd probably fail the Metal Spin again.

I was expecting something to go wrong in Stage 2 as well. That's rarely his best

I can totally see if you were paying attention at the lack of attention Li got and assumed he didn't do well. Somehow I ignored that and the ANW3 talk about him specifically, so I pretty much did this reaction to a tee. To think potentially his last tournament is a slip-up on the first obstacle. That would piss me off for a long time.

As for Shingo, that was half surprising and half not. Before he started I guessed he'd lose on the canonballs, and he did.
But when he actually was on the obstacle I was like "Oh! He might make it! He's at the end!" *splash*
...
of course....

I made the first fail thread to use the term "Shocking failure" after Sasuke 24. Can't believe ppl still use that! As for Shingo, that was half surprising and half not. Before he started I guessed he'd lose on the canonballs, and he did. But when he actually was on the obstacle I was like "Oh! He might make it! He's at the end!" *splash* ... of course.... Shingo's was the most disappointing fall by far. It's like when your slinky toy is about to reach the bottom of your stair case, then it stops right before the end. IT WAS RIGHT THERE. And no, you cannot do it one more time.
