I know this may sounds way too early, since SASUKE 28 is not even planned, but I'm just doing this for fun, since gtoneko did it year's ago. Unfortunately as long as ANW is connected to SASUKE, those 9 competitors who did well have to requalify. BUT if SASUKE 28 (IF there is one) is not connected to ANW (which seems unlikely at this point...), those 9 will get free pass.

Only way ANW4 won't be connected to Sasuke if the show is still around is if there is no ANW4. Say there is no ANW4 for whatever reasoning, I think only David, Paul, James and Ryan would be able to have the chance to get back to the course for reaching Stage 3. As for Drew, he got injured and who knows if it'll heal by the time either ANW4 or 28 comes around, and an injury of his extent, it's better to play it safe and sit out (even if he got an invite because of the injury, which probably wouldn't happen anyways). No way all 9 who cleared Stage 1 gets an invite and goes because I doubt G4 has the cash for 9 people + crew outside of sponsoring. I was slightly shocked they had enough for 3 + crew for 25 especially with how quickly it happened.

I say absolutely. I don't think anyone should get a free pass just because they did good last time, plus it gives a fair chance for thous who have been working hard to make it to Sasuke

I would personally love to see the Stage 2 clearers be invites rather than qualifiers so that 10 new Americans can try. However, there is zero chance of anyone getting a free pass especially since the ANW process is pretty set in stone now. Another reason they can't give anyone an advantage is because of the $500,000 prize.
However, there is a chance Sasuke 28 will occur before there's time to do another ANW (like in January or March). If that's the case, I could see them sending 2 or 3 Americans like they did for Sasuke 25.

I hit the wrong button and I can't undue my vote. I did no.. no one should have to requalify if they succeeded. I still stay with my stance.. the only people that b**** about them having to qualify again is because they want their spot. Pure and simple. Each one of those 9 earned their damn spot.. some of them earned it twice over.. it's time to let them stay.. like everyone else in Sasuke who isn't American.

They should just cancel ANW and only let Levi and Brian compete since they got their spots through a video voting process and completed the first stage.
Anybody else should only get a spot through making a video that is then voted on by fans and then they should be invited back forever if they pass the first stage.
I guess we should let the guys who went through ANW and completed the 1st stage have a lifetime pass too. G4 messed that up because they are terrible.
Now we have at least 11 Americans. That's more than enough, there should never be any chances for any other American to get on Sasuke, the door should be closed for anybody who's dream it is to get on the course unless they win an ebay auction or something.

So the 2000 entries to Sasuke Japan doesn't matter then. You do realize that some don't even get a chance to even ENTER trials right? Most people forget that. Even Ryo had to endure that pain of not being allowed to compete in Trials because they had enough entries that year and he had his chance.
I may hate when Levi speaks and when he jumps all over the course making a clown of himself (yes that includes David Rodriguez as well) but he got to the show and did well. Since when is HOW they got there more important than what they did when they got there? Levi made it to the 3rd stage on his first try. To Monster 9 and TBS that's a lifetime pass. Anyone else born outside of the USA pre-G4 would have had the same courtesy. I think people are to enamored with ANW to the point of dismissing logic. It represents their only hope in and that is true.. but it doesn't excuse stealing a spot that has been rightfully earned in the correct stage.. and that is the MAIN TOURNAMENT. What has happened in trials is irrelevant. Lord knows others who have gone and not passed Stage 1 can attest to that. I think people are improperly weighing ANW heavier than Sasuke and that's just not just at all.
Heh. I guess I won't win the argument against those who think they have a "right" to the show when they haven't earned it at all. This is a television show with a 14 year history and plenty have not had a chance to be on it and most likely never will. That's why it's 100 and that's why when someone wins it MEANS something. They don't "zerg" the course like ANW does.. so please don't try to justify ripping the earned spots from those who kicked a** in Sasuke as somehow just because you want in. You didn't earn it.

Absolutely I want in and I am in no way denying it. And no, I have definitely not earned it. I absolutely love the fact that ANW has given a vehicle to where I can attempt to earn a spot on the show.
But the simple fact is, that despite it being M9/TBS's show, they agreed to let G4 take care of the American entries how they saw fit. Holding the Americans to the same standards as Japanese reinvite rules when they gave the process to G4 doesn't make sense to me.
No ANW is not equal to Sasuke. It's not even close. I am psyched that Americans have even been given a fair chance to get on the show besides a casting decision or a popularity contest.
Also, I believe that I noticed a thread that there have been 300 clears of the 1st stage. Granted some of them are by the same people, but really if all the people who have cleared stage 1 come back for the next tourney, that would be that there would only be a few spots for new people, if any at all for the next Sasuke. At least 14 would be American. We wouldn't be able to get any fresh blood, No goofy regulars, and no ratings saving celebrities. It would just be a straight up serious Athletic obstacle course with much less of the heart and fun of all the Sasuke's that I've come to love.
I personally like watching the show for some of the regulars, but I also like seeing new people get a chance to compete, the backstories of why people compete, and of course the ridiculous people who have no chance. If we stick to the same 100 people every single tournament, then it's going to get dull in my opinion. Especially once some of those guys get way up there in age or injured and are obviously not a legit threat to complete the course anymore.
Most people who watch Sasuke would love the opportunity to try it, whether they have a realistic chance of completing the course or not. But if you shut it down for new people because they didn't get passed the 1st stage because they didn't get on the show earlier enough, then that's just no fun.
I really feel that if I had made it on to Sasuke through ANW2 and made it to the 2nd or 3rd stage but then failed to qualify at ANW3, I'd only be pissed at myself for not performing at a level I know I'm capable of. It would be more fuel for my training more than anything.
Either way, neither of us is probably going to change our opinion. You have your's and I have mine. I just think you're being a bit abrasive with your opinion when you're basically equating someone voting yes on this poll as "b*tching".

I get ticky simply because the only justification for not allowing a Stage 2-3 competitor to return is because "you" (general) want it. That's selfish no matter how anyone tries to justify it. There are literally thousands around the world that will NEVER get a chance. Thanks to the onslaught of the American entries trying to get into 24 and G4's handling the door is shut down for all foreigners now. Including the 153 countries where Sasuke airs.. now unless their TV station ponies up cash no one else will ever get on Sasuke that is not a Lee from Taiwan, 10 guaranteed US spots (not even Sasuke Trials Japan has that), Malaysia (1 person so far) will ever be on the show. To our Brit friends they have ZERO hope as they know Challenge will not pony the cash for a trials. They've asked. Our dear Arty.. yes.. Silvia has zero chance since she's Italian. At least USA has 10 slots but guess what? USA kicks a**. I would hope given the population of this country and how good we are in competitive sports worldwide. Sheer math can tell you how good we are. Also the show has grown in popularity here and training hardcore for the event is now heavy here as it has been in Japan.
Over the 14 years there have been a lot of competitors in the 2700 attempts at the course. 300 different people have competed and yes every single person who has passed stage 1 came back (again.. not tied to G4) and have had at least one chance for revenge. Over the years the ones lucky enough to touch stage 3 have also come back when their schedules permitted but they too have a lifetime pass.
The bigger issue here is the focus of Sasuke. That is Japanese entertainment. Part of the appeal of Kane Kosugi and the comedians and the super stars is audience recognition. Unlike shows like Wipeout where it's a string of new people over and over Sasuke has a core of people that come year after year. Sure some people come in and out over the years due to age and even desire to compete.. but part of the reason why people hated Yuuji is that they didn't know much about him. Now they do. The revolving door around the American gate is not helping in Japan gain fans for the Americans. They go "where's Brian?" and TBS has to stop in Navi just to explain why a 3rd stage competitor has not returned. Did you know the Number 1 question asked in Japan when 27 aired? "where's levi?" why? because of recognition. They followed his exploits in the latter stages and expect him to be there because of Sasuke history. The same will be with David from now on and they will expect Brian again. I for one know I am in the vast minority when it comes to this statement but I know G4 has painted itself in a corner.. you introduced GOOD competitors capable of going far in the show and there are hundreds more like them in the USA.. but being a Japanese show.. there are only so many spots. Audience in Japan demands familiar people to show up for them to even care so yes.. if there are more competitors who earned those spots (at the bare minimum stage 2) then they deserve to go back even once. Take Rich King for example. 23 he passed.. 25 he came back and didn't. I have no issues with him in trials. Stage 3 competitor? Send them back to Sasuke where they belong. At some point someone has to stop for a second.. check emotions at the door and realize what's going on. No one outside of the USA even cares about ANW. They care if someone they watched in Sasuke make the course look easy and got far int he tournament get the same treatment regardless of what television station paid their way.

I understand you have a strong opinion on it Arsenette, but the ANW competitors themselves are fine with re-qualifying. Most even PREFER it and think getting a free pass back would be cheap. I'm sure David never once complained that he needed to prove himself again.
Also, as a viewer I personally enjoy watching new people on the course. I also love seeing favorites like David try out because we know how dedicated and skilled he is, but I was really happy when people like Travis Rosen and james Mcgrath got a shot. I personally like variety. That's why I also like the older tournaments when people with the "odd jobs" and the everyday man could pass stage 1.

There are now 7 Americans who have qualified through G4 and made it to the third stage: Levi, Brian, David, Paul, Brent, Ryan, and James. They should be the American Team for the next Sasuke. ANW has served its purpose and the trials should only be held when the American competitors start to decline.

I said yes. I feel there's too much competition for there not to be some sort of tournament to determine spots. It may suck, but that's just the way it is. And if I was to somehow make it onto Sasuke and make it all the way to Stage 4, I wouldn't mind having to requalify next tournament, knowing the amount of people who want spots. That's just my opinion though.

Hell yeah the 10 Americans who go next time should have to earn there spots!!!! Its not just a spot in Sasuke but a FREE trip to Japan! Furthermore there are only 10 spots and if they just gave them to people who did good last time then people like Ryan and I would never have a chance. The way I see it ANW's tournament style competition works when it comes to finding the 10 best. At the beginning of boot camp there is no way I would have guessed a vet like Brian would go home but after day 2 it became apparent that he might not make it through the camp, and I'm fine with that! if someone has to crush my dream to achieve theirs then so be it! They earned it! all we as contestants want is to send the 10 best and to try and prove that we are part of that 10.
The one courtesy we do receive is that our video submissions will be automatically accepted witch thinking about it that only affects me lol
anyway to just give those spots away for an ANW would be unsporting and un-Sasuke.

Well that's the last time I'll come to the defense of competitors in the hopes of "gasp" sportsmanship and "gasp" equality for all. I should be labeled a damn heretic and beaten in the streets for even assuming that all rules should apply equally regardless of country of origin. When someone redefines earning a spot in Sasuke as "unsporting" and "un-Sasuke" it's time to step aside and walk away before my brain hemorrhages. Now I know why so many people don't post here anymore. I will never understand this generation with redefining terms.

Just to be difficult, I feel like voting 'yes, they should requalify' this year. My idea from last year is that the number of spots competitors at ANW# are competing for varies, based on how the competitors did on the previous sasuke. If you want to base it on who passed Stage 1, ANW4 has 1 spot to get. If you want to base it on Stage 2 completion, there are 6 open spots (right? or am I missing someone in Stage 3?). But just because you get the reinvite one year, doesn't mean you always get it (ie. Sasuke 26 3rd stage= no requalification in ANW3, Sasuke 27 fail stage 1=requalify in ANW4), so spots available can range from 0-10 each time. I can see how that would be less exciting from a G4/TV/ANW event perspective, but I think it's fair.

You have to look at this from a Sasuke view and not an ANW view. Pick the guys who have had success in Japan. Brian Orosco struggled in boot camp but he's been good enough on the actual course to reach stage 3 twice and that should have been enough for him to be invited back for 27.
