...did anybody else become concerned when there was nothing at the end of the broadcast hinting that a new course/era awaits us? After all, at the ends of both 17 and 24 it was heavily implied, but this time there was nothing. Nothing! It just ended so abruptly without any form of a (figurative) cliff hanger for the next tournament! Did anyone else make anything of this?

The thing about this one that struck me it that it's coming off of a Kanzenseiha tournament. They didn't even show their "3 ropes" Final Stage tower idea from the end of 17 and 24---that just seems kinda ominous to me.

LOL They've already tried

Like Arsenette said, it's not much different than 25. (I'm sure 4 is also no different).
Stop worrying Yam. They havn't decided about Sasuke 28 yet I'm sure. If they do decide not to have one, it'll be after the ratings come in. It's not like they decided while editing it to not have a 28.

It was just something that seemed a bit unsettling to me. Of course I'd love to see a 28 and beyond, but how I perceived it at first concerned me. Though yeah I guess Badalight's right that it's not something that I (or any of us) should worry about. Maybe it was just me getting a bit caught up in the ongoing discussion on its future.

Don't worry, you weren't the only one who perceived it that way. My brother and I were watching and he (who doesnt watch SASUKE) wondered if the lack of a mention of any prize or future competition meant the series was over. I could see why TBS would decide to end it here... we did get a victory and it was a very well edited and exciting show.

The car was a special thing for 24, they just happened to have a winner, I don't remember them making a big deal about prize money when Akiyama and Nagano won did they?

It wasn't that that concerned me, it was just the lack of any implication of a course renewal or anything along those lines. But yeah I'm still gonna try staying optimistic about 28 happening.

They had nothing after Yuuji won and didn't plan properly.

I still honestly believe they are waiting for the ratings. SO much is hanging in the balance..

On the bright side, that is an area where Concast/NBC/G4 could potentially help, provided here's an interest/incentive on their part to do so. I know ANW is their focus, but I tend to think ANW will lose a LOT of steam if Sasuke is cancelled.

Well I think the winner in Sasuke 24 got a car, because they were expecting a winner. I think they wanted there to be a winner so they prepared for it to make for good television. But I think this time they really weren't expecting anyone to win, so maybe that's why there wasn't any sort of television prize awarded. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought the bar glider was gonna take out the farthest competitor considering how tricky the pipe slider dismount was in past tournaments, but they forgot that the humidity would make the bar stick more. I don't know though, just grasping at straws really.

Just posted on the Ratings thread up top (it's stickied).. they got 2nd in the ratings for that heavy ratings night and a 12.6% according to a TBS tweet from last night. That's a lot better than what ANW got.. so I hope that is incentive to continue. OMG I hope so.

Remember also the tournament ended almost at sunrise, so it would have not prepared for that as well. Start the times a little earlier like 10am and it should be OK, but the weather might have played a role here at the end of the tournament as well.

Eh.. not really. 24 ended late too... the part people are complaining in this thread was that mock 3 rope icon that appeared at the end of Sasuke 17's broadcast (the one that got both of Bunpei's eyebrows going during the Kanzenseiha Special! LOL). That could have been added unless they honestly didn't know if there was going to be a 28.. so far given all the evidence.. I think this is more likely an answer. Why give a mock up of an idea if there isn't a 28? Now with the ratings what they are there is a chance it could come back. Personally I wish there is a Kanzenseiha Special.. Lord knows Yuuji is owed one already from 24.. then maybe we would see a graphic on that?

Well I'm optimistic hoping for 28, maybe they didn't want to keep showing that graphic so people didn't end up hoping for that final when we already know they couldn't pull it off
