So, what happened to him? He didn't seem to land on his arm, but thats what he was grabbing... so any explanations?

I don't know what happened but I have one speculation... It probably was about his landing coming off the Spin Bridge, he must have hurt it from the landing, got it bandaged up as a precaution, thought he was fine to run Stage 2 but the drop injured it and once he dismounted he couldn't continue and signaled to end his run

Wasn't really the drop, his bandaged arm never hit the mat, he was noticeably grimacing when holding the bar down the track.

But wow did Kanno have some serious guts putting on a great performance as #1. Was he truly assigned that number or did he request it?

Usually with a known competitor though they give them the option to accept it so I believe TBS would have asked first for someone like him (having been a finalist). Similar to how Akiyama was asked and he gladly and eagerly accepted the first number.

Considering the way he landed on the Spin Bridge I could see how he could have knocked it loose, maybe I was right... Like loose from the spin bridge fall and dislocated from the impact of the drop in the track?

Since he was severely bandaged before the run he had a previous injury and the drop onto his hands did it. Sometimes it doesn't take much to knock it out of place.. just bad timing So sad seeing that. Just like when it happens to Shingo.. the sheer frustration and pain mixed in makes it difficult to watch

My first thought was dislocation as well. Hopefully it doesn't become a permanent thing for him like it is with Shingo.

Did someone say left arm? Oh yeah, poor Kanno. I didn't know he was injured during the broadcast so that was super disappointing

I'm almost positive the damage was done trying to save himself from falling off the Cannonballs.. Doing the blog I ran into that and it made sense. Just a few people later when Shinya was going he had a huge icepack taped onto his right shoulder. (Just check Navi on that) P.S. Yeah.. the HD pic is drool-worthy..
