Nagano will beat the UCH next time (im not convinced it will be replaced) If there will be next time. Besides, without Takeda by his side, Nagano might not be motivated enough. You know "one for all, all for one" - there were just the three of them with Yamada - sorry to say so - being the weakest link (of the three). It's always better to have team's support ("active" support - by co-participating).

He means Okuyama. But still, you can't compare the two Hell yea you can compare the two. Nagano used him as an example in an interview where someone asked him if his age was getting the best of him. (He also used Sato too, so chew on that lightly) But Okuyama is of advanced age for Sasuke and he's made how it many times to the 3rd stage consecutively?? I've lost count it's been so many. He's older with his streak than Nagano was with his own 3rd stage streak.

His run was extremely impressive. You can really see his nervousness with the first stage nowadays with how patient he was being before obstacles. And he didn't even really run out of steam on the third stage. He just overshot the ledge a bit. Hopefully, he can make performances like this consistent in the future.

No one said it was time for him to retire. I believe from the performance he gave in 27 that he definitely still has it in him to pass. However, I don't believe he has been training as much lately. He does have a wife and kid now, and I'm sure he spends every waking moment he can with them since he's not on land very often. Also since he's always out at sea, he really has no way to train on obstacle replicas. In this age of Sasuke, if you don't practice on replicas you're going to have a very difficult time. I agree that this age has had a great focus on building obstacles, rather than training for whatever they throw at you. Nagano's continued to train as he would've from 5-17, just focusing on general strength and fitness, with a little bit of specificity in there. I admire Nagano for that, being able to stand up and produce results that are right up there without extensive replica use. Also it's good that he doesn't train as much as he once did, he IS getting older, and Sasuke isn't everything. Sasuke is him going out a couple of times a year to muck about with his mates. I personally wouldn't want to see Nagano at Sasuke any other way, with a big smile on his face if and when he comes out of the water.

Nagano said before the 3rd stage even started that he knew he couldn't do the UCH and mentally wasn't there for it. I have to give him credit for showing up to the tourney though.. most skip tourney's when in mourning and he's had one busy year despite not being able to spend time alone mourning with his family. He seemed off today but still was surprising to me how well he did despite it! He really is superman to me to be able to handle so much pressure of holding Sasuke up practically alone. He is though tenacious so if there is a 28 he will show up since he himself would want to see what it's like. Natural curiosity.. but I don't think he will stay much longer if the show continues. He's said it a few times. I wouldn't even put it past him if he hoped the show would end so he wouldn't have to retire before it did.. but he will hang on as long as possible.

RE: Thank you for your support.
Not a unique thing. The Japanese women's national soccer team had sign with the same message earlier that morning when they won the Women's World Cup. It had been used at various international sports events, I believe.

It would be great to see him again and sad to see him leave but he doesn't have anything left to prove. He's almost 40 and likely wants to spend more time with his family and of course still has a job! The guy is truly a legend!

Nagano's run this time was very impressive and I'm glad he got so far considering his previous Stage 1 blunders. He's talked about being past his prime and retiring from Sasuke at some point and I'm torn between wanting to see him compete over and over as opposed to retiring while still in "stage 2 clearing shape".

I was so glad he finally cleared the first stage. I was worried he would time out on the second but he clear it too. I thought he would fail the cliff hanger, but he did awesome considering he didn't even train for it. If Nagano trained specifically for the cliff hanger on a replica, he would be able to pass. He actually got further than I thought he would, I thought he would fail around where Koji did in 25, but he surpassed that.

There was no doubt in my mind that Nagano would reach the 3d stage. He's the strongest and one of the best competitors in the history of SASUKE. Yeah, I know he's almost 40. But he's still great. I don't treat his previous performances as failures, because his falls weren't the result of lack of strength of abilities. Those were either lost of balance or miscalculation of distance...kind of Shingo-like mistakes Silly ones, I would say. SO, as I still had (and have) faith in his abilities, I had no doubts about him reaching the 3d Stage. However, I did have doubts about UCH. I actually thought that this obstacle in its present shape is impassable. And IF a miracle happened, it would be Nagano Makoto's doing... The impossible became possible - somebody passed it. I was really shocked. And I thought "If he could do it, Nagano will do it too" It didn't happen. I was surprised and sad but I still believe it's within his reach. The obstacle that follows UCH (what's the name of it?) is equally bad and difficult (it's sooo easy to slip from those strings) and I think Nagano might need two more attempts to clear those. I believe it's in his power

He said the first thing to go are the legs and you can definitely see that with Nagano. He's been having a really hard time with jump obstacles and things like the warped wall. His legs simply want to give up on him. His height sure doesn't help either. I actually have to agree about those legs...He used to be a record-breaker in both 1st and 2d stage. This time he had 9 second left in 1s stage and only 1 sec. in second. Of course it's hard to make comparisons, because the number of obstacles change and there's a lot of running in between (distance between one and the other). I don't even know how many obstacles are there now in the 1st and 2d stage, and what is the average time for an obstacle...Did anyone counted that? At which point do you think (which Sasuke) Nagano started loosing his speed? I didn't see the previous tournaments so I can't figure it out myself.

Nagano's not losing speed. He spent at least 10 seconds sizing up both the Spin Bridge and the Metal Spin. He's definitely still has it speed-wise.

His legs seemed fine to me. Remember that he's failed the last few tournaments because he rushed.
Ultimately, he needs to train on the UCH outside of Sasuke to beat it.

Ultimately, he needs to train on the UCH outside of Sasuke to beat it. And the next obstacle as well. Can anyone tell me the name of it? I've been looking for it in Sasukepedia but no name rings a bell...

Chain See-Saw - that's what I meant. Thank you Except that I thought it was some kind of jump ropes between the string ladders... I didn't know these were chains.
