I posted the TV listings for Monday the 22nd. The day of the NBC premiere. tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ZCGrid.do?fromTimeInMillis=1314057600000THIS thread I'm marking for ratings discussion and no "zomg who is going to do well" on ANW.Current standings for ratings winner on Mondays has been a toss up between 3 shows in the past couple of weeks. Here's the current leader: blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/08/tv-ratings-hells-kitchen-serves-up-a-monday-win-for-fox.htmlSince America's Got talent has been a good ratings winner all summer it's a good lead in to ANW regardless if it's a rerun or not. Given also that it's a variety show and still doing well it should bode well for NBC to actually get a good rating. Wipeout (which airs at a different night) has been hauling in consistently around 6 million viewers (+/- depending on week but consistently breaking 6 mil viewers on ABC). I view that as a base of what ANW should get and beat. If it doesn't I "personally" will find it a failure but dunno what benchmark Comcast has for a ratings win. Obviously winning time-slot and whatnot but that's going to be difficult. Other notables are the 2 winners that have been flipping places the past couple of weeks. That's Hells Kitchen and Bachelor Pad.. both of which will be premiering new episodes on Monday. Unlike AGT that will be airing a rerun. Other premieres are in cable but have a significant following.. Top Gear on BBC America will be premiering their new season and wrestling fans are quick to point out WWE Monday Night Raw is live. What might happen is that ANW might get better ratings later in the 2 hour broadcast as the shows it's mostly competing with will end at 10 pm and 10:30 PM respectively while ANW ends at 11. Given also that the shows ANW is competing with is a totally different genre and aiming at a completely different demographic.. this is going to prove to be very interesting to dissect the numbers once it airs. And the fact that it's a one-off show with no other parts to air at different dates unlike the ratings winners which are part of an ongoing series week to week. Either way it will be an interesting night to do a ratings study. Ratings usually come out Tuesday mid afternoon and sometimes mid-morning depending on when they get the numbers.

Does anyone seen commercials for ANW3's finale yet on NBC? I'm just wondering because how much it's being advertised might have a pretty significant effect on how many viewers it gets.

Also would have to add in preseason football as well; Bears vs. Titans on ESPN, and both teams are coming off of opening preseason wins, so that'll garner a few more viewers I'd imagine. If NBC gives ANW Wipeout-like advertisement (I know on my ABC outlet Wipeout commercials when it was preparing to premiere its first season were almost every other commercial it seemed), it should get a few million, but there's no way it'll be a ratings winner IMO.
@unreal -- We have our own US version of Top Gear on the History Channel and the UK version on BBC America.

I certainly hope there's enough exposure and advertisements for ANW's finale on NBC. I just have a feeling it's going to be treated like the Dew Tour on the weekends where it's just treated as filler.
And yea, it pretty much is filler until NBC's fall series' start up, but I'd like to think there's a gameplan for future ANW's on NBC (or the old Versus/new NBC Sports channel that starts up in 2012).

It's going to be very interesting night ratings wise. There's "Hell's Kitchen"(Fox), that is a big summer hit. "The Lying Game" (ABC family), it's a new series, teens watch more television than adults, not to mention it's summer time. "Bachelor Pad" (ABC), I don't know if it is a huge summer hit. So ANW has some competition. We will see how it plays out.

I don't think it'll do well, and I don't think NBC expects it to do well. It's just filler.

Wipeout will most definetely beat ANW3, if it was the real SASUKE, things might be different.

Im not sure how to look at it. I don't know whether or not NBC sees something in ANW. If they thought it was not going to do well, why would they put it in a prime time slot?

You guys get Top Gear? And it's a ratings winner? The UK version is the ratings winner on BBCAmerica.. our US one sucks and is not rated well at all.. LOL Agreed that NBC might think of it as filler but honestly we don't know how it's going to fare. It is summer after all. If they decided to put that in the fall line up I would have been very surprised given how unproven it is. Who knows though at this stage. I have no idea how it's going to fare against Wipeout and they were at least smart to not put it head to head with that.

Ratingswise though they are worlds apart though.. and that's bad considering that History Channel has more available viewers than BBC America..

Wipeout will most definetely beat ANW3, if it was the real SASUKE, things might be different. How in the world do you figure? The average viewer isn't going to be interested in watching random Japanese guys with wacky names. It's unfortunate, but it's true. The fact that it's a two-hour special tells me they're going to be going into each competitor a little bit, and with that comes the viewer identifying a little with the competitor and thus caring if they succeed. No way that'd be possible with the 'real' Sasuke for a first-time viewer.

The formula hasn't changed.. the network that airs it has. As for ratings.. I still firmly believe that Sasuke alone would do a better job in ratings than isolated American runs. Even within the small US fanbase.. most prefer the whole tournament and go berserk whenever they are put apart like this. I expect a bunch of mass deletions on the FB on Monday night again.. happens every tournament.

Even on Hulu there are users asking to ditch the ANW clips and give full on NW episodes.

Like G4 hasn't analyzed this and realized that when American competitors are shown on NW, ratings go up, and when Japanese competitors are shown, ratings decrease. They probably know more than us. Just saying.

Just saying. Actually no that's not true. Overall ratings for Ninja Warrior was the top in G4 for the better part of 3 years. Once they realized the "wrong" demographic was watching (women overtook men in watching the show) they axed NW on the lineup and changed the format on how it was shown and how many times to try to get the demographic they wanted back in. There was a huge uproar when it happened with the famous Neil Stiles interview confirming that while he appreciated the female audience.. that's not what G4 wanted and that's the reason why they changed how Ninja Warrior was shown. It made no sense to us either but that is fact. Since ANW came around they shifted the focus to that instead even going as far as moving the date of NW months away from ANW and doing no outside advertising for the premiere. Even so.. NW ratings are close if not equal to ANW overall with zero advertising. That's just fact. They just don't promote that number simply because "we" watch Damn females.. LOL

Huh? That wasn't what I was talking about. I meant second by second. Literally, throughout an episode of Ninja Warrior, minute 1:31:35 with Levi's run is a higher rating than 1:32:55 with Lee's run.

They love money, so they don't just do these things to piss you off, they have a reason behind them, and that reason is an S with a line going through it.
