That's MXC, or takahashi's castle.
That's where Ninja warrior came from basically, it's incredibly old.

It did. But Takeshi's Castle is like the grandfather of all obstacle course shows, well at least the Japanese ones.

Takeshi's Castle went from 1986-1989, Kinniku Banzuke didn't come along til 1995 if I'm not mistaken. Then, Sasuke came in 1997.

Actually Wipeout has been compared to MXC (Which gets footage from Takeshi's Castle then puts dubbing on). I was actually thinking of starting to watch MXC just to see footage of the original Japanese Obstacle Course show and get a laugh at dirty jokes while doing it *giggles* ("doing it" ), So I'll watch that later. And wasn't Takeshi's Castle one of TBS' shows? I know it was filmed at Midoriyama Studio where they film Sasuke and Kunoichi. But heres how it goes as far of a timeline Takeshis Castle, then Kinniku Banzuke came along, then they had a spinoff of KB, Sasuke (Quick Question, didn't it start as a special episode then they decided to do it again and decided to keep doing it then kept it going as its own when KB got canceled or is that wrong information?), then the "new show" got its own spinoff, Kunoichi. After a couple of accidents in a special Kinniku Banzuke it got canceled but the two spinoffs are obviously still going.

I'm pretty sure Sasuke started while Banzuke was still going on, and they had like 7 tournaments while Banzuke was still going, or something like that.
but then it got canceled and Sasuke became it's own show.
So banzuke started first, Sasuke was a special even they did for it which was every 6 months, and after it got canceled it stayed.
