I still want to know why the Vita has a touch screen on the back side. I think it was more a touch pad (Like that little mouse thing you would find on a laptop), But I still don't get why it was there... What kind of game would even have you touching stuff on the back.... Then I thought... It's going to be something that starts like this isn't it Actually they've shown a bunch of uses for it. The one they showed during the conference was in Mod-Nation Racers were tapping on the back would create mountains. There have many been many other clips with games utilizing it, like raising land to move a ball around. It actually looks pretty cool, and the Vita itself looks amazing for a handheld (This coming from someone who hates handhelds).

Meh.. I'm all late.. I had a bad headache and had to lie down so I totally missed the Sony conference. Glad it's archived so I'm watched that when I woke up.. www.g4tv.com/e3-2011/press-conferences/Shocked to see the apology take so much time at the top of the show.. it's about fecking time.. it took them how long? Given also that I don't even own a PS3 and really have no reason to.. this was an "eh" conference for me. Nothing made me go "zomg I have to have it. Most of the shows this year were a bit lackluster IMO.. except for Ubisoft.. not as bad as last year but that's a looooow bar to begin with Why are you shocked? Everyone wanted them to talk about it and get it out of the away immediately. If they didn't it would just stay on everyone's minds the whole conference. If they didn't mention it all all that would've been bad. As for taking up too much time not really, just about 5 minutes which really wasn't detrimental to the over-all conference. And I still don't understand people who are pissed at the whole debacle. When you play the PSN there is a user agreement stating that it is a free service, so the players really have no right to complain. Now I am legitimately upset for the 3rd party publishers who need the PSN store for revenue, they have reasons to be upset.

I didn't say it took up too much time.. I was saying I was shocked that they did a good effort to address the elephant in the room. Given that they have completely botched it a month ago by not even addressing it it was nice to actually see them open with it and move on.
Bada it's a crime to publish personal information including credit card information.. that was a massive security breach that they let go for almost 2 solid weeks without addressing. This is now a legal issue.. so the fact that they refused to even acknowledge it in the past was the biggest problem with this whole "debacle". Had they been up front there would have been less fury. I for one don't even have a PS3 so it doesn't affect me at all. I was just stating what's going on and why there is a legit reason to complain... they did it to themselves.

PSN breach makes me happy I pay for Live, regardless of the fact it's $60 a year. I agree with arsenette, so far most of the conferences haven't blown me away. I saw Ubisoft's and asked myself why they were even on the stage. EA's was typical of them. Sony's was just mmm ok. The Vita put them in a good position tho. I'd say Microsoft did the best and aside from MW3 and Halo Anniversary/Halo 4 (CoD/Halo Fan. Believe It!) even they didn't have a spectacular conference.
Ready for Nintendo's. They may have a chance at having the best conference this year.

I'm curious how well Nintendo can handle what they are going to promise after March's disaster They got hit really hard and their electronics mecca that was Fukushima annihilated a lot of companies when they lost their parts manufacturers.. Hoping they can bounce back quickly.

I love how the Internet stream for Nintendo's press conference broke right after they introduced the Wii U controller, then I had to search on Google for a new one and when I did so they announced Super Smash Bros. 4. I don't even know if that's sarcasm or a pleasant surprise, but probably both.

Oh man, Nintendo's conference was freaking awesome. I'm loving the look of the Wii U, and the swiss army knife of controllers. I'm just curious on some of the extra details about the console, and the price tag.

It definitely looks interesting, but there's not much we can comment on since it's still so far away. The possibilities are crazy, but I still like my normal gaming controller that I grew up with and use all the time.
If it's just an upgraded wii, I'll pass.
Looks like you'll still be using the wii-mote and stuff.
However if it's what their promising which is a new hardcore console ASWELL as a Wii, then sign me up.

How much are those controllers gonna cost? 1st.. it's not just a controller.. they only focused on it for this presentation. There's an entire console system attached to it. 2nd.. it's not coming out until next year.. so we won't have a price-point or launch titles for another 10 months or so. It definitely looks interesting, but there's not much we can comment on since it's still so far away. Actually doesn't seem to be "just" an upgraded wii. Since it's a nintendo system you get backwards compatibility (which is very smart) so you can use your old peripherals to play old wii games on it or even play it with a new twist. The actual controller for the WiiU by itself is what you saw.. it just adds more flexibility using old stuff if you have it.. but by no means is it required. Just like there's a port for a gamecube game in the Wii but by no means do you need it to work the Wii itself. Agreed that I'm interested if they find a way to actually have "real" games for a Nintendo platform. Looks promising especially with so many of the big names taking their stuff to the Nintendo for the first time. For once I'm hopeful with a Nintendo console.. Handheld we know how well they are.. but for a console they pretty much sucked for a while.. the only one I really liked was the SNES and then the Game cube.. hated the Blur64 and even the Wii is collecting dust at home.

We can only mindlessly speculate for the next 18 months or so until it comes out I was excited about the new brawl (Though there were tons of rumors before the show that it'd be announced) but we know that they havn't even started on it yet. I also hope that since he is making one for the 3ds and the Wii-U that they don't suffer because of it. If it's the same game it might feel like the wii-u version was downgraded so that it could be ported easily to the 3ds, and if they are 2 seperate games that's a lot of man hours going to the portable game that could've been going to the Wii-U verison (which is the only version I care about). E3 conferences over-all for me 1. Nintendo 2. Sony 3. Microsoft Hopefully my bias is lower than most people's since I do own all 3 systems and want to make the most out of all of them. I want all 3 companies and the game industry to prosper.

Also, the how much are the controllers gonna cost question is really valid. A lot of times I loose or break controllers (Meaning my brothers loose or break controllers) so I hope they don't cost a ridiculous amount of money to replace. That definitely looks like an expensive controller.

Makes sense though the question floating for a while (to the point that Adam Sessler had to ask Reggie directly about it) was if the whole system WAS the controller. That's why I had to address it that way. We saw a picture of the system itself but people seem to have forgotten about that.. LOL Either way.. legit question.. that sucker is going to be expensive..

I'm so psyched for the Wii U. I'm glad that Nintendo is not only ensuring backward compatibility, but also integrating Wiimotes into the experience. I was worried that games like Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports would have to be played with the new controller.
Did anyone notice how similar the Wii U controller was to the original Game Boy Advance? I think it'll be easy to play on.
Also, I'm intrigued by the trailer for Super Mario 3D. It was hard to tell the style of the game; but it looked like a weird combination of Galaxy and Mario's 2D platformers.

I know what you mean. A lot of people were really confused after the conference. Though the new system is there, you can't deny that the controller is the "high point" of the new console. Similar to how the Wii-mote made the Wii unique. My favorite part of the trailer was the golf demo, the new Wii Zapper, and the Othelo. I hope those work as shown.

A rumor that REALLY sucks
Apparently the new Wii-U remote will NOT be sold seperately. Yes, that means you only get ONE controller for the console. That means in multiplayer games everyone else has to use Wii-remotes and 1 person uses the new controller.
Not only that, but what happens if it breaks? You gotta buy a new console?
I really hope this is changed/isn't true.
