A lot of guys with great potential seemed to have just missed the mark in the two ANW open tryouts. Which of these guys do you think is most likely to make it into the top 10 in ANW3? And as a side note, who are you most rooting for?

I'm not going to vote. I think all those guys, plus many others (even a resident on the boards *cough* oti *cough*), have a great shot at making it. They all excel in different areas, I think the ones who will make it will be determined by who can pull it together and have near perfect runs.

Trevor Vaughn seems pretty good at speed. A little bit lacking on strength, but I think he'll be a good candidate for the top 10. He's a freerunner so that stuff he does from freerunning is gonna help him if he competes again. Overall, he's got the best chance IMO. He was just too cautious in the semis...

Gotta go with Mike. Displayed good upper body strength, good speed at tryouts. Just needs to be able to get up the wall.

Do you think there are any glaring omissions in terms of poll choices? I tried to do my homework before deciding who to add, but my information gathering was limited to previous ANW tryouts, forum discussion, and Youtube videos. I will admit the main reason I didn't include Oti is I figured forum bias would skew the entire results. Nothing personal, it'd be awesome to see him make it.

I like to think it'd even out. Uhhhm... Going in your order, Mike, Brian and Ryan all are forum members here too But are any of them hated like I am? I think not! What about Ninja Chris? I assume he's been working hard since ANW2 as well.

I don't feel like voting because I like all of the guys on that list. I put up a little list from what I think each person can bring to the table. Rooting for them all though!
Mike Bernardo was a 1st timer last time. I was very impressed by his youtube videos and dedication to fly in and train at David's before the competition as well. Dorian Cedars is unlucky. He got injured twice. He's got great upper body but I wouldn't like his chances in on Sasuke stage 1. Ryan Cousins has made semis twice.... Would be hard to not make it to Japan if he makes it to semis or further 3 times in a row. Brian K unfortunately did worse than the 1st year. I was hoping he made it further. He proved he can do it though, he was a tester and showed he can complete the course. Maybe ANW3 is his time. Sean Morris is a strong competitor. He can do things most people can't do (check out his auditions on youtube). He beat the prelim stage both times and I anticipate he'll do it again. We'll have to find out if he's been working on his upper body so he can beat a salmon ladder or something like it. William Spencer can probably be put on stage 1 of Sasuke and beat it. His upper body is the question mark. Ryan Stratis is the Shingo of Americans, he shows up to all the events in America. I'm rooting for him to make it to Japan. Probably has more drive to be on Sasuke than anyone else on this list. (No offence to the others) Trevor only did ANW2. Apparently didn't do ANW1 because he wasn't old enough and seems to be a fan of the show. He destroyed the prelim course, hopefully he works on his upper body. (Salmon ladder...) Chris W is the only one out of these people with a course in his backyard. He shows that he can do his course with a weight vest on (youtube). He kind of choked at semi-finals. Hopefully he shows up again at ANW3. East coast kid!
Shout outs to Chris C, Oti, and Sean K from here that I hope do well as well.

We'll have to find out if he's been working on his upper body so he can beat a salmon ladder or something like it. Sean failed the Salmon Ladder because of G4's horrible design. The rungs were made from wood that was so wide, there was very little space for the bar (it didn't help that the bar was fat, too). That made it so that not only did you have to land the bar very precisely, but if you missed a notch, chances are you were going to fall all the way down. I remember watching him fail. He missed a rung and literally bounced down until he fell. Sasuke's Salmon Ladder (or half of the replicas out there) wouldn't have done that. Before that, though, he was pretty much killing it. First time on one, too, I believe. Shout outs to Chris C, Oti, and Sean K from here that I hope do well as well. HOLLA!

Yeah it did look like that bar was a lot tougher to deal with. I don't rememeber who but I rememeber someone was tryign to get up that thing using swing momentum and the bar was actually starting to roll off the rung.

Not a good reason to fail. You should have to beat everything that's put in front of you. 9 or 10 guys were able to beat it. Still think he has the skills to beat stage 1 of Sasuke though.

I agree. I was just pointing out that his upper body didn't fail him. He was going along fine until he missed one rung and was unable to recover.

I voted for Brian, he can make it to Stage3 easy.......as long as he doesn't fail the 3rd obstacle like a girl!
Of course all of these guys have a great shot. Yeah lots of omissions too Oti,Mike Hengelbrok, Constantine Kostya, Gabe Cortez, Chris Cristenson (he's been improving), forgetting a ton I'm sure

I agree that a lot of these guys have potential but since I've been contributing to the video list I am expecting a lot of freerunning/parkour specialists to be at ANW3. A bunch of guys from "Jump City" and such are trying out and the tryout level of ANW best suits speed guys. This could hurt some guys chances who would better suit stage 3 in sasuke rather than just the 1st and part of the 2nd stage. If the course stays the same, I think 55 seconds will be the cut off this year. Just wondering if David expects much change to the top 30 or top 15 even. I'm kind of pulling for a few people who haven't had a shot yet, so I want to know what a strong competitor like you expects.

Yep, you gotta beat those speedy guys at their own game if you want a chance at Stage 3! Open tryout will pretty much always be about speed and agility kinda like Stage 1. But they have been getting better at including grip and upper body strength based obstacles like the salmon ladder later. As for pace I do expect it to be quicker than last year. But you cant have a set time in mind, you just gotta relax and go at your own pace. But not waste time either.
