I was thinking of starting up a journal to follow my training. Then I got to thinking maybe other people would be interested in starting something similar. Kind of like a training blog sub-forum. That way we can keep questions and discussions of fitness in the main thread, and for those interested, a place to list off on how they they train. Just an idea, so let me know what you think.

I think it's a great idea, but not yet. If more people started making (and keeping up with) those topics, then by all means split them up. But do you remember the training video topic we had forever ago? No one posts in it anymore. So you've got a "yes, but not yet" from me. Good suggestion!

Not bad, but as Oti said how many topics would actually be made? It could just as easily be in a stickied thread for everyone.

I don't think it should necessarily be in one massive topic. Everyone could get their own training journals, provided they keep up with them.
I think one big topic would be annoying and slightly confusing.

That's true. But I guess it depends on how many people are active about it.

Exactly! It's like the user created content thing. Since that suggestion was made, how much original stuff have we seen? Not enough to warrant an entire section...
Not to derail this topic, but I'm about to. Whatever happened to that video topic, anyway? Didn't we stop using it around the time arty joined? I think she posted a video or two there and then... poof.
Cooties, maybe?

I have no problem with people creating their own personal thread for their own goals, accomplishments, styles, or whatever else they want to write about their own training.
However I agree with Oti, like with the user created content, how many people would actually do anything with it once it was up? Once people were told to stop spamming up the General Sasuke board with random creations unless they were going to stick with it, no one did anything except for a couple.

The idea of "If you make it, people will use it" does come to mind here though.
I probably would, I know Rider would, and it would defenitly(how do you spell this >_>) bring the community a bit closer.
I got a camera for Christmas, so I'm going to be uploading videos. It would be awesome if other people were constantly uploading videos as well.

Then why not dig up the videos topic and use that instead of making a new one? At least if the videos topic dies again, it won't have to go through the pain and suffering. It'll already be used to it.
A video topic is different from a training journal anyway.

How about a blog feature. Many forums have blogs, that could work, don't know if it's possible with this forum layout.

What's wrong with just embedding the videos and talking about them in the same post?

As cool or as lame as it would be, it doesn't matter if people don't update them. Why don't we try it in an order than makes sense?
Videos topic -> Videos/Journal section -> Videos/Journal section with blogs
I honestly don't even think I'd keep one. I keep meticulous logs of my training, but on paper. I don't know about posting it.

Definitely start the topic because it is a cool idea and I'd like to see where it goes from there.
